Excellent.  Of course I was just being obnoxious and giving DCUser a hard time...  But now that you've done a shadow--extra credit for including a shadow of the coin on his chest.    ;)

Don't don't know the answers to these, but FYI, I recently stumbled on to this

Maybe there are some kids' books in there ...

General Software Discussion / Re: The MS Excel Clipboard
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:40 PM »
Strictly speaking, (to the best of my limited knowledge) I don't think Excel has a clipboard...  It just uses the Windows clipboard like everything else...
It's interesting to note how many different formats Excel sends to the clipboard...
http://office.micros...x#BMclipboardformats
So when you want to keep what's on the clipboard, what parts do you actually want to keep?

Very cool! Heck yea, I'm an Opal Calc person and would love a copy of this!

Also fyi there's a free, easy-to-use, fractal program called Quickman
http://sourceforge.n...t/projects/quickman/
That should produce some pretty cool sounds :)

404 at Web Link Captor page....    That's what we call "ironic."

Here's one I did of myself with Morpheus a while back...  Didn't have very good starting photos though, so didn't turn out all that great.

Unlike natural aging, it loops ;-)

If you use Vista, you must have your User Account Control (UAC; that annoying thing that pops up everytime you try to do the slightest thing, asking you if you approve or deny it) turned on.  The only way you can avoiding the constant pop up is to turn it off.  For some godawful reason, though, they made Skydrive such that it won't run on Vista if the UAC is off/disabled.

Unfortunately this was a deal-breaker for me.  Unfortunate because I do like the SkyDrive service and the Webapps.

Edit:  I see that the comparison chart indicates GoogleDrive does not provide "Remote Access."   That's not correct is it?  I think GoogleDrive is the same thing as GoogleDocs, which you CAN access from any computer (by signing in).  Or am I wrong?

336
Yea, I've used Morpheus  http://www.morpheussoftware.net/ it's pretty easy.

There are some free ones out there.  Checkout http://download.cnet...2186_4-10845768.html  If you google search, then watch out for viruses with this type of software....   Stuff from cnet aught to be safe though.

General Software Discussion / Re: create pdf forms
« on: August 14, 2012, 01:01 PM »
In my experience, there are painfully few options for this...
You can try http://www.pdfescape.com/
Also, you might see if this can make text fields.
http://sourceforge.n...or/?source=directory

EDIT:  Actually...  Upon searching Sourceforge, I just found this
http://pdfformsdesigne.sourceforge.net/
Which I'm going to definitely check out.  Judging by the Wink tutorials
http://pdfformsdesig.../videos/overview.htm
it looks like you CAN make editable forms.

EDIT2:  http://sourceforge.net/projects/openpdf/?source=recommended

Edit3:  Hey pdfformsdesigner worked!  (sort of)
https://docs.google....TpftPWTNhb3VpN2otTUE
Open this pdf and look on page 2.

So I printed this forum post using the
http://www.cutepdf.c...s/CutePDF/writer.asp
virtual printer, then put a text field on it.

Definitely check out Pimlical  http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/
The only thing I don't like is that it's Java-based, and I'm not a big Java fan....

I do use the desktop version of Pimlical though.  (it syncs to my old school Palm)

There is an android version too.  Pretty cheap, and all the $$ goes to wildlife conservation.

WOO HOO!
Your score: 165 CPM (that is 33 WPM)

Your score beats or equals 36.63% of all.

I'm glad you posted that last one...  Simple as the change may seem, I probably never would have figured it out.

Over the years I've tried multiple times to self-teach myself AHK.  I'll study for a while and learn a couple concepts, then get frustrated because I can't accomplish the simplest of things--then give up for a while and start all over.  :-\

Speaking-of-which....  I'm curious:  If a person wanted to change the color of the ************, how would they do it?
I tried changing both places that have "white"  Lines 10 and 15, but that fills the entire window.

On the bright side, I *did* figure out that I could get rid of the vertical line altogether by commenting-out line 12.   ;)

343
Sweet, Thanks!  Did you just make this, Target?  (It'll be kindof cool if you did make it--since it looks like a "target"  :)  )  It seems to work well.
I think I'll try the ************************  thing and see if I can get it to work.

344
Yup.  They have it again today.  Same deal.  50% off for the app, but no discount for the "lifetime upgrade."
Still a good deal, IMHO.  Also FYI, a long-time user of x2 (Narayan) recently updated his "unofficial" x2 Manual
http://www.free-down...lorer2_documentation
if you want a peek.   It's a PDF...  Like 450 pages or some crazy thing.

General Software Discussion / Screen Calipers is currently free

Pretty useful little program    8)

I've been a long time fan of Mike Lin's excellent Cross Hair app http://www.mlin.net/CrossHair.shtml
I find that about 80% of the time, I'm using it as a reading guide on a webpage or on a CHM help file for an app.  When this is the case, I want it to be present only on the given window, not the entire screen.
In the image http://i.imgur.com/KJiRl.png I'm reading item #2 in this help file.  I'd like the reading guide (which I've drawn as a gray rectangle) to be associated with this window so that it is only visible over the given window.  If I click away from the window (see bottom of image) to work on another window, I want the reading guide to stay in place with the assigned (now inactive) window.  It would be like a placeholder for my reading, but also would stay out of my way.

Does that make sense and/or seem like a good idea?

Hey you're right. Up to $10 now (on top of that old $17.50)
Woo Hoo--thanks!!!  This is becoming quite lucrative!

Regarding order of operations, I also agree that you should stick with the scientific community's standard.  Maybe you can just briefly reference this in the Quick Start Sample thingy in Opal Calc.  You can ask people to "Please excuse my dear aunt sally."   :P
http://en.wikipedia..../Order_of_operations
(note:  According to the above article, PEMDAS is a US thing... I guess other countries have other mnemonics??)

@Bob99:   Everything seems like it posted correctly...  I'm not sure how to interpret the defaultPrefs.txt content, the developer (Twinbee) will need to do that.
I am curious about how you files are grouped into one folder...  Are you using TotalCommander to display all the contents into one flat view, or are they actually all *in* one folder?  When I unzip mine, I get the main OpalCal_Demo folder with the img folder inside

but then, inside the img folder I have only PNGs and an ICO.

is your img folder empty??

Maybe move those PNGs and the ICO into that folder....

Also, is it possible that you have some advanced setting on your unpacker plugin that is putting everything into one folder, rather than reserving the folder hierarchy of the zip?  If so, Maybe try just downloading it to your Desktop, then Right-click and use the generic Windows extractor(?)

EDIT: Okay that's good!  Now I'm curious what file manager you use though ;)
