For my purposes, I need an actual font that other Windows applications can recognize.  If all you want is a word banner, then yea, a vector-based photoeditor is probably the way to go.

Probably the most powerful freebie is the GIMP http://www.gimp.org/ It's more like Photoshop then a vector editor though....

Other fun things to check out:

Cool stuff!   Thanks for the fonts site.  Sadly the "SVG & colors in OpenType fonts" looks like it only applies to FireFox.  Too bad because that's exactly what I need (except for Windows).

I also would love it if this were possible.  I have BGInfo https://technet.micr...nternals/bginfo.aspx scripted to put some stuff on my desktop wallpaper at start up.  When the picture underneath is the same color as the text though, it's unreadable.

Cool idea!  I guess you could also make an option where the ico file would also be copied to the folder, thus making it a "portable" folder.

I haven't tried Win 10. But on Win 7, you right-click the clock, then choose "T-Clock Properties."

There's a tool called iSilo. (no relation to Apple)  http://isilo.com/ I first started using it back in my Palm Pilot days.  I never use it anymore, simply because I'm always near wifi, so I just view the live sites rather than downloading them.  There's an Android version that works on my Kindle Fire HD 7.  It's expensive though...  $30 US as I recall.  And the formatting is not all that great.  Still though... It works.  There's a free component called iSiloX that parses the pages/site.  Then you send it to your device and read it with iSilo.  As I recall, iSilo can be used in "free mode."  Links are disabled in free mode, but at least you can see how the formatting is.  Tips:  There's a feature on iSiloX to limit parsing to only certain URLs.  It allows wildcards.  For example: https://www.donationcoder.com/*  Use this and only use a link-depth of one, otherwise you'll end up downloading gigs of data.

From the help file:
CHS now has a stack system that will let you easily copy multiple clips into a stack (queue), and then paste them back out individually (or as a block) in a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) order.
This can be very useful when you have to copy a series of items from one location to another.
How it works:
The CHS stack works by keeping track of a "stack marker" that you can assign at any time, either BEFORE you start copying a collection of new clips, or afterwards.
At any time you can "pop" the oldest item in the stack and advance the marker, or paste the entire contents of the stack in one operation.
New clips are automatically added to the stack -- you don't have to do anything special to add them -- the only thing you have to do is set the starting position of the stack marker.
To set (or clear) the starting stack marker position BEFORE you copy any clips, use the custom hotkey (see hotkey options) or bring up the quick paste or tray menu and choose to set the starting stack marker.
To set the starting stack marker position AFTER you have copied some clips, bring up the quick paste menu and hold shift while clicking on a specific clip, OR bring up the main clip grid and right click on an item to show the stack submenu, and then mark the clip as the start of the stack.
Then you can perform stack operations (pop or paste as block) using the hotkeys or the quick paste stack submenu.
In addition to pasting as a solid text block, you can paste items with simulated TAB keypresses between then, which is useful for form filling.

+1 for this feature request idea.  I also hope to make a custom Autohotkey tool for this,  but I'm an ahk newbie, so I haven't gotten brave enough to work on it yet...  My recommendation for implementing this would be to have an .ini file someplace with a list of words to leave alone, such as

[LeaveLower]
key=with
key=the
key=a
key=in

of course CHS would have to also consider whether these were at the beginning of a sentence!  Another feature that I really need, is a list of ALLCAP words that should always be all caps.  There are lots of acronyms were I work.   For example

[LeaveUpper]
key=CIA
key=MASH

Those are examples...  I don't really write for the CIA!

In all fairness to Tux, I do have to point out that I baited him a bit.     No offense taken, really. 

There's some paradox with writing my own HTML.  I my well go down that path, but as I'm learning, won't I be producing some junky code?  And if my whole thing is to use it on my site...  Well you get the idea.

Notepad. It will generate help you to "generate" exactly one file.
Whyever you would even need more than one.

Beats me...  Like I said...  Not too website-savvy. 
I'm guessing that with the above-mentioned WebsiteX5 scenario, many of the 71 files are not even used.  Probably just default stuff generated by the application. 

I guess I could probably upload a plain txt file...  But that would be pretty boring.  I'd like to at least put my mug there.  Here's the current one (buggy)

Hi Folks,
I'm somewhat techy, but website building is something I know very little about...  Years ago, I got a lifetime membership to NoNags.com.  It includes a free (though small) place for hosting a website.  Over the years I've used several different ones.  Remember Geocities?  LOL.  There was also a nice freebie from Microsoft, but they discontinued the service.  Google has one, but whenever I get involved with a Google thing, they bloody discontinue it.  Anyway, NoNags is still going strong.  In the past I used WebsiteX5 (shows up free on the interwebs every now and then).  Now though, it appears that NoNags does not support FTP uploading, which is what WebsiteX5 uses.  I can upload the individual files to NoNags, but for even the smallest site (3 different pages) there are 71 different files and folders that need to be individually uploaded!  That's not really feasible. 

So the question:  What free tool can I use that will generate the fewest resource files?  I don't mind having a one-page site, if that makes things smaller...
Ideas?

Yea this one is pretty cool.  There have been a few free sites that have popped up.  Unfortunately none offer HD output.  This one is cool though, because you can input your own styles...

A cool feature might be to have a "School days until Summer" function.  I guess this would be a branch of the "DOY" (day of year) function.  You'd have to allow the user to define the "non-school" days though.  And also define the first day of "Summer."  Perhaps a comma-delimited txt file with (appropriately-formatted) dates.  Saturday and Sunday should be excluded from the count automatically.  Excel has a similar function.  Most time-related apps don't though--which surprises me, because there there a lot of teachers and students out there!

Bonus Star Wars geek tip:  Make your own r2d2 audio alerts to use in T-Clock.

I complained to Amazon about the incident and checked the listing for the phone case just out of curiosity, it was being sold by another seller whom I've bought from several times and know to be honest. So my negative review was directly affecting their sales.

It dissuades sellers from selling fake goods no matter who they are.  Unless they state that the item is a copy/non-genuine in the description, exactly how honest are they ?

A similar thing happened to me.  My favorite pocket knife is the Victorinox Swiss Tinker Deluxe. Saw it for a really good price so I ordered it.  The item that arrived was a cheap knock-off, not the item in the description.  Kindof interesting, because it was clearly designed to look like a real Victorinox -- even had their logo.  But it was absolute junk.  The seller, chawi, gave me the run-around.  Amazon made good on the refund, so that was cool.  Anyway, same deal, I submitted a product review indicating than the product in the picture is awesome, but chawi is crooked.  Amazon wouldn't accept the review, because it mentioned the seller.  Though they did, later, give me a chance to write a review of the seller too.

Is there any chance this new one will be sImgurUploader-friendly?  I guess what I'm asking is whether sImgurUploader can be made to work with it...  I already got my new creds and tried them, but they don't work. 

I ran into the same problem as mentioned above, Imgur REQUIRES as callback address.  I just used my own Imgur main page, because I didn't know what else to use. 

EDIT:  I checked out your (Skwire's) profile to see if you were still active....  That's an impressive lineup of badges!

I was also going to suggest IrfanView.  Also, RealWorld Icon Editor has some advanced batch capabilities.
