Screenshot Captor / Bevel Frames
« on: February 10, 2012, 01:54 PM »
Here are a couple "bevel frames" I made:
http://i.imgur.com/UEDam.png
http://i.imgur.com/fnjKW.png
http://i.imgur.com/0QFf1.png

Put them in your C:\...\ScreenshotCaptor\Frames\Frames folder, then press "Rescan Dirs." in SC for them to shop up.

I recommend using 1/3 to 1/2 opacity, for them to look good.
Somebody please try them and post if they work correctly.

Living Room / MARCH 2011 SPECIAL FUNDRAISER GIVEAWAY
« on: February 03, 2012, 02:57 PM »
Yay!  Or did it already say "March?"  I don't remember...

EDIT:   Actually I think that was before...  Otherwise it wouldn't say "Special Fundraiser."  Moderator may delete.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Is CHS "Dropbox-friendly?"
« on: January 21, 2012, 12:49 PM »
I've used Clipboard H+S off and an for years now, and have always been impressed by it.  The main reason I keep straying away from it is because I really need something that can let me easily access my clips whether at home or at work.   i.e. Is Dropbox-friendly.  If it was portable, I could (?) "install" it in my Dropbox folder, then it wouldn't know which computer I was on.  I would just need to make sure I didn't have both computer running at the same time.  I've been doing this successfully with the portable version of ClipMate.  Unfortunately, ClipMate seems like it might be abandonware now.  Plus I want to use CHS simply because I have a vested interest in DonationCoder.  (And CHS has a better quickpaste menu.)

The new Ethervane Echo seems to handle the dropbox issue pretty well.  I like CHS better though, because it handles pics (and for a couple other reasons; Though Echo is awesome in it's own right).

I'm surprised that searching the CHS board for "dropbox" yields zero results.  Surly I'm not the first person to think of this.

Extra notes: I know I can export when shutting down, then import when I start the other computer, but I don't really  consider this a viable option (I"m just too darn lazy!)  Also, having a list of friends on a network and network passwords, etc etc like Ditto is overkill IMHO.  It would be okay if it could monitor for any changes in the database, but mostly I just need the portable bit.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Thanks.

There's http://giveaway.downloadcrew.com/
Usually they have items that are for sale at a discount, but occasionally there is a freebie.
Such as right now they have MAGIX PC Check & Tuning 2011  (normally $49 USD).
I installed it.  Seems okay...  Not sure if it's any better then Advanced System Care Free, CCleaner, or any of the others.
You have to give Magix your email, so I'm sure I'll be getting an "upgrade offer" for version 2012 soon...

Anyway, the site is worth checking out every now and then.

General Software Discussion / xplorer2 at Bits Du Jour soon....
« on: January 02, 2012, 11:17 AM »
I can't see a date,
http://www.bitsdujou...lorer/#comments32878
but I imagine it will be active in the next day or two.  50% discount.  Comment from Nikos (the developer) indicates you can also opt to get the "lifetime" licence at 50% off (i.e. for future versions).

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / NANY Folk, I can make your icon if you want...
« on: December 18, 2011, 02:16 PM »
I have a few days off for Winter Break, so I'll make (an) icon(s) for someone if they need.  I always want to contribute to the NANYs, but I'm not a programmer.
Here is an example of some icons I made (to be used only with zabkat's xplorer2) http://i.imgur.com/qMzyv.png (If you're a frequenter there you might notice some faces ;) Also note that some of the images are based on existing icons )
I also make one for a fellow here last year...  "NetLaunch" I think.
Not the greatest artwork in the world I know, but folks aren't obligated to use a graphic if it doesn't turn out the way they want.

Find And Run Robot / Pattern scoring Kudos and Questions
« on: December 11, 2011, 11:52 AM »
I've recently discovered the 'Pattern Scoring' capabilities in FARR.  It's made a HUGE difference in the usability of FARR for me.  Extra Kudos, Mouser, for adding the ability to use Modifier Keywords with Pattern Scoring!  I had the problem that there are hundreds of MP3s and Image files all over the place.  Generally, I don't want FARR to find these...  There are tons of them and they clog up the search speed.  So I essentially "turned them off" by making PS rules for score is -99999.  Then made keyword-modified ones to turn them back on.

Very nice!   :Thmbsup:   ;D

Questions though--What is the most efficient way to set up my list of patterns?
(1) Should the most commonly utilized ones be at the top of the list (in the same way that directories should be)?  Does it even matter with pattern scoring?  Should I have all the keyword-modified rules AFTER the non-modified ones?
(2) I have image files essentially turned off with score is -99999, but I have a keyword "+pic" that makes them +99999.  I couldn't see how to combine these (e.g. Pattern is *.jpg, *.bmp, *.png, *.gif; Score is -99999), instead I had to make separate rules for each file type--all using the same keyword.  Is this the best way to do it?  Or is there a way to combine multiple file types on one rule?

Many thanks!   :)

Find And Run Robot / Plug-ins not showing...
« on: November 06, 2011, 11:13 AM »
It's probably just an id10t error...   But,  shouldn't these plugins (see pic) show up here (see pic again)?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Kudos on the new version...
« on: November 05, 2011, 12:33 PM »
Just wanted to say kudos, Mouser.
I hadn't tinkered with CHS for a couple years.  The latest version is very cool.  Feature-packed without a lot of bloat.

Google Boomerang / Odd characters ...
« on: May 26, 2010, 04:26 PM »
Is it possible to point TransBoomer to a Spanish dictionary?  I actually use it to communicate with Spanish-speaking parents at my school...  I use it in two ways:  First is to translate English text to Espanish, but also to (at the same time) unsure that it's going to be comprehensible...

The problem is that I get lots of junk characters like

Presumably this is caused by TrannyBoomer substituting characters (??) Is this a dictionary issue?  or a font issue maybe?  Ideas?  Thanks.
PS "TrannyBoomer" was a typo but I left it because it was funny :)

The Form Letter Machine / Feature request: "toggle variables"
« on: May 29, 2009, 05:34 PM »
Hi, tried to post on the "official feature request" thread, but didn't see how.  :huh:

What I'd like to be able to do is have a series of variables that can be set as a group to "A" or "B."
Example Content:
==============================
Dear parent,
This is to notify you that your [son|daughter] will be graduating soon.  [He|she] will need [his|her] cap and gown fitted for [him|her] prior to graduation.
==============================

Then I could choose between [A|B] in one location and the choice would be propagated through the entire document.  Does that make sense?
I'm not sure how this would work...  I guess there would need to be a special kind of radio group such as
=========
Gender
()male
()female
=========
There would have to be a way for TFLM to know what group each of the toggle variables corresponded to... ... ...
Maybe this:

Tree group:
=========
Gender
()male
()female
=========

Text body:
==============================
Dear parent,
This is to notify you that your [Gender:son|daughter] will be graduating soon.  [Gender:He|she] will need [Gender:his|her] cap and gown fitted for [Gender:him|her] prior to graduation.
==============================

Did that even make sense?  This is rather cumbersome... Do other people have ideas?
Thanks for considering this  ;D  -steve

Please consider more control over what is shown in the Quick Access Popup List...
Personally, I'd like to have "Virtual Folders" as a level one menu (rather than a Formatting Preset sub-menu) and have the entire rest of the list dedicated to "New" clips.  Of course other people will have other preferences...  Thanks for considering this  :-[   -steve

Clipboard Help+Spell / Just fyi: incompatible with ObjectDock.
« on: May 23, 2009, 09:42 PM »
Just fyi:  If ObjectDock (OSX-style launcher) is running, CH+S will freeze if you access the prefs.  The pref GUI will show, but will be unclickable (buttons, toolbars, etc).
It doesn't realy matter to me though....  I've adopted FARR as my launcher in place of OD...    :D    -steve
