I am a student and English is kind of my secondary language. While writing my research thesis I find it quite difficult to use the right words at the right place. I have a lot of research papers in my collection. I am only imagining that if I give a tool those research papers, some technical articles found on web and some other well written stuff. A tool like that will help me choosing the right words and sentences in my thesis.

There is http://www.hemingwayapp.com/ which highlights long sentences, suggest simpler words etc.
Another is http://writefullapp.com/ which looks almost perfect for technical writing and does almost the same thing as I am looking for. But it is not free and it looks on internet for similar sentences to suggest the right sentence.

Well, recognizing that since you haven't said what subject your thesis is on, I could get wildly out of my depth, but try this -

I'm fairly strong on the linguistic - liberal arts front, so toss me a draft of something by email and I'll throw you "the intelligent layman's questions". Then I can work with you to show you some types of questions a person can ask that can never be fixed just by the types of tools you are looking for.

I have some passing layman's interests in AI, so this would be a fun project! (And these days trying to get my health better, I need a couple of fun things to rebuild my concentration on!)

(P.s. Holler when you've sent something, because I am doing a few hobbies today and need to know when to look. I don't have those "you've got mail" auto-links to email like a lot of people have, for various reasons.)

My thesis is about Multi-Agents and Scientific Workflow Systems. Thank you very much for sharing email to help. But you have probably took that too far of what I am asking by saying "some types of questions a person can ask that can never be fixed just by the types of tools you are looking for". No I am not looking for a tool which will write for me, I only need it to suggest me better words or phrases if possible.

I made a simple word generator once, than converted it to a simple sentence generator which used markov chains. That sentence generator, I found later, worked almost the same way as spam email and spam fake article generators work. They make sentence which look like a real readable sentences but in fact are stupidly connected long sentences. But they do the job of fooling search engines very well.

I am expecting the samething from a word prediction tool, give it some sample text, start typing, looking at what you have typed it should suggest next words which it learnt from sample text (research papers and other technical writings in my case)

There are keyboards available for Android which suggest user the next word as he is typing. Once installed some of them learn users previous conversations and suggest for next.

Is there anything similar for windows PC? I am writing a technical article and my English is not very good. I feel a great lack of words and vocabulary to describe something.

Won't that be a great idea if I give a tool a few related technical articles (or research papers) and when I start typing it suggest me words or sentences (like android keyboards). And in result I'll have a very good looking article with a very good vocabulary?

You will probably be better off getting yourself a language partner. Yours is one of the classic cases where pseudo-AI typing assistants crash terribly! It does sound like English is your second or third language ... but you can't fudge it just with a typing tool! My phone is older, but you wouldn't believe the disastrous attempts it makes trying to "auto-suggest" words! I have to make a smile and tell it "no... I am typing Collinear, not colander (like the kitchen tool to take the water out of pasta!) Stop that!"

And unlike random text, in a technical article, every sentence counts!

What is your native language? And what are the papers on?

There is a Typing Assistant http://www.sumitsoft.com/ I can not find a way to give it some text from where it can learn. It has instead an Auto-Learn feature which learns as user types.

Another is eType http://www.etype.com/ but I am unable to download it even with a proxy.

CoWriter 7 looks something like that. http://donjohnston.com/cowriter-7/ but it is not free and it has its own topic dictionaries from which it suggest words.

digiNotes crashes a lot.

Used PNotes years ago in windows xp. Gave it another try. Removed extra stuff from notes, now I can create notes on a double click. Right click is still noisy.

I want them to be visible on desktop. I just don't want that extra load of features and options. I want simple notes that stick, not MS Office.

ATNotes is light on desktop but gives list of things like alarm, layout, folder and other stuff. It is tangled.

Windows built in sticky notes application is minimal but it likes to keep itself on task bar. I keep my desktop literally clean so there is nothing but beautiful wallpaper. There are a lot of sticky notes applications out there but they offer bulk of functions, when you right click it pops up a huge list of options.
Even if it offers font styling etc it should keep those options hidden from the view, keyboard shortcuts are there for that.


Is there any simple sticky notes application with which I stick notes on desktop with just a click and does NOT have that huge bulk of options? Simple stuff just works.

Piky Basket is a great idea.

1. Unlike simple copy paste tools, you get an always on top basket or the context menu basket.

2. You drop all the items, that you want to manage. e.g. Select all books and folders of books and drop in the basket, which makes a collection of books in basket. You put all songs and softwares in the basket too. put more books, songs etc.

3. You go to the books directory and drop all books from basket in it. Which starts move/paste operation.

Is there any free tool like that?

DropIt moves the files on defined rules, which is not like Piky Basket.

Is there any free alternative to CopyWhiz 4 which was free in 2008 as Piky Basket 2.0. This is a great tool, it allows you to pick and put files/folders in a basket and drop them where you want. It makes its a lot intuitive and easier to manage files.

Is there any free alternative? I searched all the internet but could not find Piky Basket 2.0 (even torrents and other download sites). They all link to original website which is not offering the old free version any more.

Is there anything like Run where I simply press e.g. win+r right a simple small note, or paste it and it goes out of my sight? On Run I can save only one thing at a time momentarily, and with a small keyboard mistake I can lose that note.

I am imagining something like run, press a shortcut, write anything in the simple popup text box, press enter, it disappears and text is saved in a plain line be line list. press another shortcut and a simple popup display that collection of text. Is there anything like that already? I googled a lot, all todo and note taking tools are bulky with many features.

I used Mac a few days and loved two finger scroll. I use PC so I don't have a track pad. It would be great to do the same with mouse only. There is a utility https://code.google....p/two-finger-scroll/ for trackpads. There should be something for mouse too.

Bad english perhaps. I mean that anything that I write in that text box is saved with each key press in a text file. Also the workflowy webview above can be used to keep important notes synced.

I have found this www.codeproject.com/Articles/3728/C-does-Shell-Part-3 and modified it. Added an always saved text area and browser (to keep open workflowy). Now it is always on right of my screen and allows me to add any thoughts instantly. I am a rainmeter user and it can not do this.

There should be a simple sidebar which is always visible (like Vista Sidebar where maximized windows dont overlap it) and it should have editable text area to note down anything. For 1080p screen an always visible sidebar is great.

I love games, still trying to get external graphics card. But the integrated graphics of my mother board are enough to run any game. Any one can note a clear difference between perforemance of high graphic games on XP and Vista on integrated graphics.

I dont like to 'runas' the applications. Thats why my user has full privilages (admin). When i downloaded that file i scanned it first with Dr. Web. And my fault that i trusted on it blindly, another fault was that Dr. Web Cure It was not updated from 14 days. But the file i have downloaded was very old. I dont even tried to update it and scanned that file with Dr. Web Cure It.

Ok!, Than i should consider my idea as 'unsuitable'. But i m still sure if there is will be any it will be very beneficial. I am searching for rootkits now. Better next time.

Scan completed with Sophos Anti rootkit - No rootkit found.

No, i am pretty sure that my system is clear now, i do use process explorer, process monitor and file and reg monitor to check when i find something suspicious. I used vista a few weeks but it is only good to eyes, not to taste. And i am again on XP. Vista runs slow on 1g ram, and 2ghz dual core. All my games gives better performance on xp than vista.

Can i really use olly debugger for this purpose? i have used it but i dont know that provides enough information to understand that the software is trying to edit registry and files or not.

If so than it means that i can check any sucpicious file with it?

f0dder got my point exactly. This is what i am inspired from kaspersky, actullay what happened was that a few days ago i have downloaded a small executeable accidently. And when i executed it, nothing appeared, and i caught it red handed. I moved to msconfig and there i found that it made 22kb exe copies in severel directories named as svchost.exe and userint.exe and moreover it added each copy two times in system startup.

I removed those files by searching them with instant file search utility "everything" and to confirm removal of those suspicious 22kb files i used "indexyourfiles" to search for 22kb files but there was no one left.
My pc saved from a big problem. I m not using any antivirus and dont want to load my system with it, but i am a fan of kaspersky. As it tells the detail of each suspicious activity.

Then i thought that if i have executed it with a program that i have suggested, i get notification of each step and may have blocked all those steps.

I wish there code be a software by which when i exute a program it ask me each and every step to allow or not. For example when i run a process it asks me when it wants to change registry, it ask when it is copying a file, it ask when it is genereating a file and all other steps.
