Thanks wraith, that looks really good but a little bit expensive ...

So I'm looking for the best solution to stock and organize code snippets - I have Cintanotes and EtherVane Echo and other odd and ends but they are not exactly what I'm looking for, though of course they are excellent in what they do.

It has to be something where I can just click on a snippet and it's copied to the system clipboard and where the snippets can be moved around between folders and so on ...

Any suggestions please ?

tomos : take a look at TagKeys. I use it all the time to store and enter logins, unimportant passwords, snippets etc. There are lots of built-in macros and it might just do the job.

It also slides out  :D

On the downside it doesn't seem to be under development any more.

It just seems weird to stick your password into some strange input box. :P

Yes, that's what I thought - well, nearly ...  ;D

But on the other hand ... if this service is trustworthy then it's really useful.

More opinions ?

Has anyone tried (I have and it works) using mail2web ... ? It looks really useful BUT would you give your email password to someone you don't know ?

Waking up an old thread with a new find for Renegade : Dictation Pro (free..?) - it only works with Vista and Win 7 ... >:(

Thanks for your detailed reply tranglos - things are clearer now ... ! And I do understand the way you wish to go.

About clickable urls : how about urls in the URLs View being clickable - just another idea ?

And the name : reminds me of EthervaneRadio ... ;D

Still enjoying testing Ethervane Echo - two ideas, remarks or requests, but which may go beyond the scope of the app :

  • have you thought about drag-and-drop or Move to ... ? The possibility of moving a clip from one Quick view to another (and in particular to a custom view, e.g. Archives) either by drag-and-drop or an option in the context menu to Move to ... As things are the Quick views can only contain filtered clips.

  • and what about clickable urls ?

BTW the way, unless I missed it somewhere, could you comment on the name : is it Ethervane like weathervane ?

I use one called Yadis Backup. Simple backup program, not too many configuration options, but works for me.

I much prefer Bvckup  ;D

oblivion : about the junctions, I found this thread on the Bvckup forum, I don't know if it will be of any help to you.

BTW, if you're still trying Bvckup, how are you getting on with the filters ? I'm having problems including some files from a folder and excluding all others ...

Testing now - looking very good indeed - thanks tranglos  :beerchug:

It's not this one either (no rtf) but it's neat and rapid.

Renegade, another one you might like to look at here (look for PROBLEM ORIENTED RECORDS installer), there's a full description at Softpedia here.
I know it talks about medical records and so on but it contains a speech recognition word processor.

You never know ...  :P

Uranium Backup
The payware versions are moderately to seriously pricey.  Do you use one of them, or the free one?

The free one ...  ;D

241
And a little-known but excellent prog (which I have recommended before) is : Uranium Backup - many features and versions.

243
Was it this : mfNotePad

(Note: the author's site has disappeared.)

Thanks for this.

Some details : as stated in the article the supernova can be found in the Pinwheel galaxy near Ursa major (Great Bear, Big Dipper, the Plough etc), the Pinwheel galaxy is NGC 5457 or M 101.

To find the galaxy look at the first two stars (Alkaid and Mizar) (on the "left") of the "handle" of the "plough" and then look "upwards" from them to a central point forming the apex of a near-equilateral triangle with those two stars forming the other two corners and the baseline. The Pinwheel galaxy is at that point.

Happy hunting !

You could also checkout MultiCommander which is very configurable including custom scripts and much more. It is a two-pane explorer with tabs but you can switch to one pane and back. I've been testing MC and playing around with it for a few months now and I'm getting to like it.

As april says, it wouldn't be that surprising if we used Drupal.  I definitely have a love/hate relationship with Drupal, but i have used it now in several projects and i have quite a bit of experience with it.

I find it completely unintuitive and unpleasant, but there are still good reasons to use it as a CMS, and it would be at the top of the list of contenders for DC.

mouser : putting aside Drupal for a moment (I have the same sort of relationship with it as you do though I am running a site with it since 5 years) maybe you could check this : dbqwiksite, I can't say if it is really what you're looking for but maybe it is ... ?  :-\

No luck. The Cool C ReadWrite wouldn't run without a license, and the company is out of business it looks like. (Web site gone.)

@joiwind - The first link was a 404. Which did you mean there?

Sorry Ren, try this and look for AARON and AIB. But I'm not at all sure that you can use WAVs, just a micro.

...the thin veneer of civilisation is still just that - a thin veneer. Tear it off, and it's not a very pretty sight.

Can't remember where I heard or saw this (maybe on DC ?) but one day someone asked Ghandi what he thought of western civilization and he replied : "I think it would be a good idea".

Two "radical" (if not new) views : back to Keynesian economics and the gold standard ...   :o

A quote from Keynes : "Speculators may do no harm as bubbles on a steady stream of enterprise. But the situation is serious when enterprise becomes the bubble on a whirlpool of speculation.
The introduction of a substantial government transfer tax on all transactions might prove the most serviceable reform available, with a view to mitigating the predominance of speculation over enterprise in the United States."

After all, it's all down to money - isn't it ...?
