With GoodSync if  A is synced with  B and the file has been deleted on A at a later time than the file was originally synced with B originally then the sync will cause the file to be deleted on B.
IE:  file  TOY is on A not B  when synced on 3/01/07. TOY is  now on both A and B.   Then file TOY is deleted from A on 3/05/07  if no sync performed it is still on B.
Then  on 3/09/07 I sync.  Since the deletion is newer than the file TOY on B the file toy is deleted on B and now appears on neither drive.
I hope that explains it

I use http://www.goodsync....googs&frm=frame4

When I do a full copy I use Karen's replicator
Seems to work well for me.

It is probably the most useful program I have.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: application sensitive pop-up notes
« on: November 04, 2006, 12:22 PM »
I like this idea very much.  I am trying out QuickNotes plus. It works fine for static applications.
However I have an application that the title when opened is  XXXXXX-MMDDYY. Thus every day the title is different ( by the  MMDDYY ) and so the Quick Note does not associate with the application.  So the Note application needs to either be set to read only a designated portion of the  application title  or the applicationtitle lneeds to be made  ( in some way )the same every day.

Thanks.  That is a good idea. I will try that.  I also found two Window programs that put the two files side by side >  Beyond Compare and KDiff ( Sourceforge )

So my problem is solved.

Thanks

General Software Discussion / merge two files to one
« on: November 01, 2006, 09:05 AM »
I have two txt files. One is year 2005 customers and sales to date. The other is 2006 customers and sales to date. I would like to create one file  so that I can easily see a sales
comparison one file. The file looks like this for each account,

ACCOUNT:00044   XXXXX  YYYYY XXXXX  LOS ANGELES     CA,
ACCOUNT:00044   TOTAL $:         91.75  INVOICD:     91.75  ,
ACCOUNT:00044   TOTAL UNITS:         4  INVOICD:         4

What software could I use to do this ?   ( XP Pro  SP2 )

And no the DOS propriatery software program we use for invoiceing etc can't do this.

Thanks

Living Room / Re: B drive
« on: August 05, 2006, 08:36 AM »
Ok  That make sense. I remember we bought a computer  a long  time ago and we insisted that they add a 3.5 " drive to go along with the 5.25 floppy. I forgot that it was the B drive.

Thanks

I have an Autohotkey script which I keep on a flash drive.  The script has my secret password. ( send secret password ) When I activate the Autohotkey from the flash drive it resides in my tray. It would then be possible for a malefactor to open ( edit  ) the hotkey and read the secret password.  Is there a way to have the keystrokes read the hotkey directly from the flash drive ( best solution ) or can the hotkey be locked from edit or encrypted so it can not be read.  I tried Axcrypt but when the autohot key goes to the tray it is then in plain text.

Thanks

Living Room / Re: My girlfriend says I am just being paranoid
« on: July 14, 2006, 07:37 PM »
From The New York Times, July 14, 2006

>WASHINGTON, July 13 — After months of resistance, the White House agreed Thursday to allow a secret intelligence court to review the legality of the National Security Agency’s program to conduct wiretaps without warrants on Americans suspected of having ties to terrorists.

Senator Arlen Specter worked with President Bush and White House officials to agree on a plan to review the wiretapping program.

If approved by Congress, the deal would put the court, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, in the unusual position of deciding whether the wiretapping program is a legitimate use of the president’s power to fight terrorism. The aim of the plan, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales told reporters, would be to “test the constitutionality” of the program.

The plan, brokered over the last three weeks in negotiations between Senator Arlen Specter and senior White House officials, including President Bush himself, would apparently leave the secretive intelligence court free to consider the case in closed proceedings, without the kind of briefs and oral arguments that are usually part of federal court consideration of constitutional issues. The court’s ruling in the matter could also remain secret.

So A SECRET court reviews what were secret wiretaps in SECRET proceedings
and will keep their decision a SECRET.

« on: June 14, 2006, 12:08 PM »
Did anyone see hear about this. High school kids are using high pitched ring tones in school ( where they are not supposed to have cell phones ) because the high pitch cannot be heard by older people.

here is the tone   >.http://graphics.nyti...0060610_RINGTONE.mp3

Works too.   I can't hear it but some of the younger folks at work CAN.

It supposedly started in England by shopkeepers to drive away young loiterers and no annoy their older customers.

Judge Makes 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' Ruling

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A federal judge, miffed at the inability of opposing attorneys to agree on even the slightest details of a lawsuit, ordered them to settle their latest dispute with a game of ''rock, paper, scissors.''

The argument was over a location to take the sworn statement of a witness in an insurance lawsuit.

In an order signed Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Gregory Presnell scolded both sides and ordered them to meet at a neutral location at 4 p.m. June 30 to play a round of the hand-gesture game often used to settle childhood disputes. If they can't agree on the neutral location, he said, they'll play on the steps of the federal courthouse.

The winner gets to choose the location for the witness statement.

''We're going to have to do it,'' said David Pettinato, lead attorney for the plaintiff, Avista Management. ''I guess I'd better bone up on 'rock, paper, scissors' rules.''

Last year, officials of the auction houses Christie's and Sotheby's engaged in the game to decide who would get to sell a $17.8 million collection of art offered by a Japanese electronics company. Christie's won.

The first thing to do is to repudiate the charge with your credit card company.

The credit card company will fight on your behalf andthey will probably not push to hard.
