Coding Snacks / Maximize Windows "partially" [finished]
« on: August 19, 2009, 05:38 PM »
Is it possible to make a program using AHK such that when I maximizes a window, it doesn't fill the entire screen, rather it fills it partially.

The gadgets sidebar in Windows Vista is like this; when you maximize, the window maximizes up to the sidebar, and doesn't cover it. Something like that, but a user defined region, is what I'm looking for.

Oh wow! What are the chances of this: We live in the same town, mouser!  ;D

Program finished!   :)

Download azerty converter.exe and run it. (I also included the .ahk file for those interested)

Just select a block of text, and hit ctrl + shift + q, to change text from qwerty to azerty (e.g. "1qw" to "&az"). Hit ctrl+shift+a
to change it the other way.

Note that both hotkeys are active, regardless of the current keyboard layout/mapping.

I should be able to make this in AHK pretty easily. I'll post an updated when I finish.

EDIT: this might take longer than expected, since I have to make an if statement for every key. :(
EDIT2: nvm what I just said in "EDIT:". I must have been brain dead.

Hmm... I might be able to whip something up using AHK. I'll report back after more investigation.

EDIT: Yeah, this definitely seems possible (and maybe even "easy"  :-\). I can make it in a couple of days.

EDIT: Ok! I finished the program, if anyone is still interested.

Open the program, choose "Select Files" and choose the files you want to rename. The edit box will then contain the file names of the files you selected. Make your changes, and hit "save and close" to rename the files, or hit "discard and close" to discard the changes.

Too unskilled to make an icon.  :P

Perhaps the mutt email client?

Is there a possibility of adding a "reset" timeout. So if after 1 sec the hotkey hasn't been pressed, the ring is set back to the initial position?

It indeed fixed the problem! Thanks.  :)

Unfortunately, the same problem still exists. :(

The about screen shows v2.69.01, in case I'm using the wrong version.

Off the top of the head, I can think of paint.NET, and locate32 64bit with the installer version. Locate32 is smaller of the two.

Hi, I encountered a bug while using FARR on a 64bit Windows 7 PC.

It seems that whenever I try to launch a 64bit application (e.g. Zune, Photoshop, VirtualBox), the launching fails. Also the program icon also doesn't show up.

If I right click on the item and select "Copy Target Path (Ctrl+C)", and paste it somewhere, the path is incorrect; it leads to C:\Program Files (x86)\, when it really should be C:\Program Files.

See screenshots, in case I'm not being clear.
