Living Room / 2G Quad Band in a 3G/4G World
« on: September 02, 2012, 10:08 AM »
Obviously not every country has 3G, but how far are we on the way toward a 3G/4G equivalent of 2G quad band? Are we there yet?

I've noticed that T-Mobile USA's 3G bands (UMTS (W-CDMA)/HSPA) operate using both 1700 and 2100 Mhz frequencies (at the same time) and India also uses 2100 Mhz for its 3G, so that seems to be a happy coincidence for those who travel between both countries.

Other countries also use the UMTS 2100 band, I see. So it may be a matter of picking your countries from the start and not aiming for universal 3G.

Otherwise I am not seeing much of a movement toward a universal 3G/4G phone, but maybe I am misunderstanding things and will appreciate any insights.

I am back to regular Firefox again for now. I've had a lot of issues where the cursor goes into swirly mode when I try to switch tabs or scroll down, and been going back and forth between Firefox and Waterfox to try and remediate. (I suppose these would be CPU spikes, but I haven't really been checking Task Manager when it happens.) So I will give this new version a try in the Firefox main build.

I also agree with JavaJones above that having the option of white borders (margins) between the images would be a plus.  Maybe a standard number, say, 30 pixels.  Or perhaps allow user to choose the actual margin width.

Thanks!

I third it, and I would also like to see an option to fill in space created by non-equally-sized images (which work fine even though this is meant for equally sized images) with "transparent" instead of black.

And it is super useful.

Even worse, i think opting out from installing the "adware/toolbar" i was unable to even run the browser.  :(
I've got Windows 7 Home Ed. 64 bit at present time so it should work just the same no?

Yes, I was able to opt out and then the new version of Waterfox installed fine. Try it again!

Something ugly about the Waterfox variant of version 15. By default it wanted to install an antivirus program (AVG) including a toolbar that it said only works in 32-bit browsers (Waterfox is 64-bit), I hate bundleware, and not expecting to see it in something downloaded from Sourceforge. All versions of Firefox freeze like crazy these days to me, I hope this is better.
