Thanks for that... I'm checking it out... but I think I'm all in. :)

Oh yeah, I'm ALL IN with the non-refundable $1000.  Now for the hard part, waiting for it to come off the assembly-line.....   :D

Living Room / Re: TSA Accepts Money For Hands-Off Screening

Maybe I should have put a smiley there, sorry.
Probably no amount of idiocy from the TSA would be particularly surprising to most people, given the TSA's past performance.

No smiley necessary, I knew where you were coming from.   8)  Perhaps I should have put a smiley in there myself.   ;D

It's all just to get you to spend more money on "upgrades".  They do it with every piece of hardware on the market.  They'll sell you a piece of hardware that they claim is the fastest, and then 8 months later will come out with something that's 10 times faster that they've had in the making even while selling the older hardware.  Rinse, repeat = more money.
I'm one of those folks that won't upgrade as soon as something comes to market.  I'll patiently wait a while for either the price to come down to a reasonable amount, fixes to the hardware/drivers or the "New" upgrade hits the market.  Saved a butt-load of money that way.....

Living Room / Internet Speed Test
« on: August 02, 2013, 02:56 PM »

I just got my internet upgraded less than an hour ago.  So far I'm quite impressed, this Hughes HT1100 Generation 4 modem is quite impressive.  I ran it through several bandwidth speed test from 4 different websites and I'm getting the equivalent of a T2 connection!!!.....

Average speed 13.4 Mbps download and 631 Kbps upload
Max speed 24.9 Mbps download and 7.9 Mbps upload

This is a big jump from my old 1 Mbps system, so I'm a happy puppy at this time....     Now for some much needed surfing....   8)

Living Room / Slower Planes And Charging For Bathrooms
« on: August 01, 2013, 08:13 PM »

Forget the flying slower part, the biggest story is considering charging to use the bathroom and standing-only tickets.  Perhaps they will revisit this idea when people start using the complimentary barf bags for urinals.... Standing-only tickets will NEVER HAPPEN with current FAA rules.

Ryanair's latest money-saving scheme: slower planes
Ryanair bets you won't mind spending two extra minutes on their planes.
