Living Room / Re: GPS and Google earth
« on: December 30, 2008, 08:37 PM »
Let me explain this a little better.

1. I would like to record my route for example I am going to Shaoguan Over New Years I would like to record my route to Shaoguan, any locations I like in Shaoguan like shops, parks etc, etc.

2. I would like to go to Japan and Thailand, I would like a GPS where I can load these maps into the GPS when I go to these places. Some GPS I have looked at only have maps for say the USA or just the UE and not Asia.

3. I would like to load the routes and locations onto Google earth with any photos I have taken.

The following I would like but not really needed.

1. I would like to mark a location of where I would like to go on the downloaded and the GPS tell me if I need to go North, South, East or west etc,etc More details would help but not needed.

I've used a garmin emap gps receiver often in the past and imported routes into google earth. Worked easily and well. Have used it to log path of a plane too, and had a 3d route in google earth.

Hi tsaint

What is the model number?

David,

There are DOZENS of ahk scripts on skrommel's page, both in their native ahk form and in the compiled exe form that tends to set off the antivirus alarms, a perfect page of downloads to test against:
https://www.donation...m/Software/Skrommel/

I have run some of the scripts on skrommels page and non of them got flagged by our Antivirus Software as viruses, I do welcome you or anyone else to try for yourself and let me know if you find anything, you can download the software from http://www.kingsoftr...ch.com/download.aspx . I am also still doing some testing on other scripts on that page.

Living Room / GPS and Google earth
« on: December 30, 2008, 01:08 AM »
I would like to get my hands on a GPS that can record where I have been, save it and then I can put my route on Google earth but I think Google earth uses one kind of format. I would also like this GPS to have maps I can load into it so I can plot my traveling and find myself if (when) I get lost, I perfer Google maps but any kind would do as long as the maps cover areas like China, Japan and other areas and not only the USA.

Can anyone tell me a GPS that would do this, the name and model number.

Living Room / Re: What the? - the case of the undeletable file...
« on: December 29, 2008, 08:16 PM »
it seems logical (to me) though to assume that any reg entries (or equivalent) that pointed to a non-existent file would have no effect

You are right but it also seems logical that the file must be hiding some where for it to be rewritten, the cache seems a logical place but if you have cleaned the cache and searched the computers it much be

1, Some where else.
2, Renamed.

Have you removed it from the server where you where distributing it, if uses have installed it from the server then it will not be on their computers and it will reinstall from the server.

Often when I download something I will rename to give it a more meaning full name to me, if this has been done the name you give it would not turn up in a search, The uses may not think about telling you they have renamed it.

Try deleting the files again remove the computer from the network (by unplugging the cable) and restarting the computer then check it the file has returned, if it has it is on the local computer if not then it is on the network. (You can do this if you do not have domain logins and everything is local)

If you have domain logins you may have to create a local login and make sure it is happening with the local login before doing the above. (copy everything from  C:\Documents and Settings\%username% to the local user name and and test first you may (or may not) need to change the network settings and password for the new local user name).

This may work and it may not I am not to sure but if it does you will know if the file is local or not.

Edit: PS clean the cache after removing the computer from the network and before restarting.

This may seem silly but is there anyway you have missed a file on the drive, network drives or in a shared files on the users computers and other computers and it is being run at startup. Try checking your startup locations in the reg, ini files and config files and any other location.

« on: December 22, 2008, 03:42 AM »

A lot of clubs and charities just do not take them any more, Your best better would be a recycling place. An other Option would be a second store or a church second hand store where you just give them your old stuff, they may take the 19" CRT monitors.

Good list, I'll probably draw a (complex but bad) family portrait or something :P

Wreckedcarzz

I was thinking along the same lines, a family photo would always go down well with grandparents and  the family, its cheap and can be done on the computer.

Deozaan please get your facts right, They do not kill the child they fine the parents 10,000 RMB, Killing a child in China is call murder and anyone doing it goes to jail.

Well, I have to admit that I haven't witnessed it firsthand, but I have heard secondhand that it has indeed happened. I also am left wondering whether or not you truly know for sure, since the Chinese government won't even let its citizens know what happened at Tiananmen Square 20 years ago.

Deozaan I really think you need to stop getting second hand information, This may have happen in the past but does not happen now, and if you want to judge a country on what has happen in the past does that mean the USA can still be judge about slavery. Lets look it something closer today say Iraq and the number of people killed over there, After all we all know the USA only when to Iraq for the Oil.

For your information do not believe everything you see on CNN

David, you live in China, a country where they actually do enforce a one-child policy--to the extent of killing any child unfortunate enough to come after the first.

That's called genocide.

There is no overpopulation problem. There is a lot of room for all of us.

Deozaan please get your facts right, They do not kill the child they fine the parents 10,000 RMB, Killing a child in China is call murder and anyone doing it goes to jail.

Living Room / Re: How will the Earth end?

Yes that is what they show - but if you look at the first graph the population growth rates are (approximately):

11% in the first 50 years
29% in the next 50 years
31%
44%
139%

So in the last 50 years the population has increased by more than 139%

If the curve continues (and there is no reason to assume that it won't) how many people are going to be on the planet in 2050, 2100, 2150 ?

Currently deforestation is on a massive scale because people in the rainforest regions need to fight poverty by growing crops and there is a shortage of land able to support crops.

The rainforests supply a huge proportion of oxygen into the atmosphere and clean out CO2 - what is going to do that when all the trees have gone?

If population continues to grow and the desertification continues in the way it is at the moment where is the food growing to be grown. It is all very well saying that the world's population could fit into Utah - but if they all moved there what would they eat and drink - I hope they like cactus stew!

If the would is not over populated now it will be soon and at the rate we are cutting down  rainforests to make farming land, and turning Farming land into housing this is not a good thing. On top of this we are putting more cars on the roads. Right Now over Europe, Asia and the USA there are large clouds of poison from cars, Power Planets and other factories WE are the ones that are going to kill ourselves and the earth.

To solve the over population problem countries need to start bring in one child policies

Why go Integrated with the graphics I think it is a bad idea, By not Integrating them you can get a better graphics card and update when needed.
