One question: I think this doesn't fully support Unicode. Is this right?

but why do you say "still no good"? looks pretty good to my eyes.
The rounded corners are still missing...check out my previous screenshot taken with winsnap.

Doesn't seem right to me...

Win7x64 and SC v2.79.01

Using WinSnap, it looks like this:

Any specific settings I might have overlooked?

That was indeed a bad example!
I just grabbed the file that was in front of me. Sorry about that!

The usefulness of such functionality resides in the ability to add different arguments to an .exe file (for example MiniCap or other command line tool, or adding /portable parameter to ImgBurn etc.).
So I was thinking of .exe files...

Hmm...I was hoping to get this

instead of this

when a file is selected.

Also a custom hotkey combination would be nice (to avoid conflicts).

Thanks!

Find And Run Robot / Re: Cannot get FARR to search as expected
« on: March 26, 2010, 04:32 AM »
Yeah, something is definitely wrong with the environment variables.

If I check only %PROGRAMFILES%, then FARR searches only in "C:\Program Files (x86)".
If I check only "C:\Program Files", then FARR searches the correct folder.

( I can make a video demo if it helps; in my example I searched for "iexplore")

I hope it's just my case.

Edit: Maybe FARR is redirected to "Program Files (x86)" when trying to access "Program Files" because it is a 32bit app running on a 64bit OS?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Cannot get FARR to search as expected

Still the same thing.

BUT: I found out that it has something to do with %PROGRAMFILES(X86)% and %PROGRAMFILES%.
When %PROGRAMFILES% is checked, the search is not complete (it happens as I've described before).
When it is unchecked, both Opera executables are found.

Similar issue with iexplore.exe. FARR does not find both of them (only the 32bit version is found).

I think it is something wrong with my FARR setup, not a general 64bit issue.
I'll try with a fresh installation (the portable way) of FARR and no plugins.

Forgot to say I'm always admin on my machine, don't use UAC and FARR (portable) is launched from a non-system partition.

63
That can happen if you've configured Circle Dock to be the top-most application. It's not the mouse-click that is stolen but rather the application focus. Try setting the Z-Order to "Normal".
Mark
Yes, that was it!
Thank you!

64
The middle button toggle works, but CD still "steals" it from other apps (Opera for example - no page scroll, no tab close on middle click) - with or without that new option checked.

I encountered an issue that somehow matches this topic title:

I'm searching for "opera" to find "opera.exe" so I can launch my browser.
I have an installed version in "%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%" and a portable version in "%APPDRIVE%\Portables".

If I search for "opera" FARR finds only the portable executable (although I see in the status bar that FARR searches "ProgramFiles(x86)" folder.

If I search for "opera.exe" or "opera +sall", both executables are found (both have big scores).

Any ideas why this happens?

Win7x64 ----- FARR v2.86.01

Thank you for this test version!

It works fine for me ... but something strange happened! I reverted to the original .exe and guess what?! That one works fine now, to!  :huh:

How is this possible? Could this issue be related to something in the settings that your new .exe corrected (or something stayed in memory longer - I'll try later with a system restart in between the switch)?
I'm puzzled!  :)

The two executables work OK for me now.

I am absolutely in love with PowerPro!  :-*

I used it on WinXPProx86 without any problems and I'm now using it on Win7x64 (only things I'm having trouble with are PPro context menu and getsystemperformancedata plugin - crashes once in a wile). It should be run as admin tho, but I don't use UAC so no problem there. The context menu problem (note that there is a 64bit version in the installation kit) I have solved it by moving all my shortcuts w/o parameters and batch files in win7's SendTo menu.

What I'm using it for:
- sidebar with buttons that show system info (time, date, weekday, cpu usage, hdd partitions usage, battery info, free ram, uptime etc.) and execute some actions (on right/middle/left mouse clicks);
- snippets;
- clipboard monitoring;
- windows management (resize to specific values; send to left, right, top, bottom half sides of the screen etc.);
- notes and sticky notes;
- scheduler;
- quick menu pop-up for most common used programs organized in submenus;
- view calendar and calculate dates;
- auto web searches (google, imdb, subtitles, dictionary etc.) based on current clipboard content;
- arb script (not so easy to setup, but very useful) - like a simpler FARR;
- favorites folders browsing (with optional files filtering);
- control panel tools faster access;
- 2 virtual desktops;
- hotkeys - many, many, many hotkeys :) ;
- few simple macros;
- tray support;
- probably something else too, but can't remember right now...

My main bar looks like this:

Cheers!

Strange stuff!
I have same issue with Logitech G5 on Windows7x64 and CircleDock v1.5.5.16 64bit.

It doesn't bother me, though! :)

General Software Discussion / Re: virtual display utility
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:10 PM »
I found out that PowerPro can resize ”non resizable” windows, as well as move them partially off the screen using only the keyboard. Not a pretty solution though, but gets the job done.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Make web search in current opened browser
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:14 PM »
Oh, no. I know about that option.

Let's say my default browser is Opera and I specified Firefox in that option field you mentioned.
But I work in this moment in Chrome. This is the only opened/started browser. How can I send searches to this opened/started browser (not Opera, not Firefox). Because this is already started and the search will take place quickly. As it is now (in this example), I'll have to wait for Firefox to open (and it takes a very long time since I need a lot of plugins).

Could this be possible? Use the already opened/started browser (no matter what that is, even IE) for searches instead of system's default browser or the one specified in Custom Browser field?

I guess it's not that easy to explain with my current English knowledge. :(

71
I use Opera as my main browser, but I also need Firefox and Chrome. They all have their strong and week points.

I make, for example, a Google search using "g query" syntax.

Here comes my question: how can I make my web search in the current opened browser and not in the default one?
And if I have all 3 (or only 2) browsers opened, could I specify a preferred order of them?

Maybe this could be doable already, but I have no idea how.
It is annoying to work in Firefox and hitting "g whatever" makes me wait until Opera launches etc...

Thanks!

Edit: the answer was offered by lanux128 in the form of Farr_Browser_Launcher.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Runtime Error!
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:55 AM »
I have no idea what I did wrong, but some time ago the error reappeared for me.
I was playing with the latest TimeZone builds and the error was driving me nuts again.
Good thing I remembered this topic!

I had to reapply the
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msscript.ocx
command and everything went back to normal.

I hope I'm mistaking, but the error appeared after I updated FARR the last time.

Thanks again!

Later edit: I do remember I installed Silverlight some time ago...maybe the installer did something to my machine...don't know.

Take a look at Sikuli then. It can be used in conjunction with the Task Scheduler.

PowerPro is not that easy to master, but it is very powerful!
