General Software Discussion / Drive Splitter

I've heard of a program called drive magic made by norton. It costs about £50 (sorry, I can only speak in UK English (eg. trousers zebra with the e pronounced as in bed etc) but I think that's about $80). Just out of intrest, I'm not asking anyone to write one, how easy would it be to make? is it worth £50?

Going back to what I said about cookies, maybe you could make a program which quite simply backs up your cookies every week or so on to a CD or DVD or even just somewhere else more findable on the HDD.

Unfinished Requests / Re: Ad Clicker
« on: December 28, 2005, 02:57 PM »
in the old days of ads, people got rich off such stuff.
now sites like google aggressively punish such behavior.  not only will you lose money instead of making it but google has been banning sites for this, and people are using these ad clickers now to attack each other and get each other banned ! crazy world.
Damn! What about the other idea?

P.s. Damn! I knew someone had already taken my idea. (I always think of these things 10 years too late.)

This is quite possibly the greatest idea I've efer had - a program which continuously fools google into thinking that you are clicking on their ads by constantly clicking on the link over and over again. (I'm assuming that you get money when people click on your google ads)

Another slightly more evil idea - a program which constantly refreshes and refreshes a web page of your choice. Excellent for using up all of someone's bandwidth...

I randomly translated the last bit of Carol Haynes' post (you could put this on the packet for Advanced Language Translation Demonstration Tool for Educators):

Original: I think it is a great application which is a really good illustration of how well computers acn cope with real day to day language.

How about writing a further application that does the job properly producing good, grammatically correct French, Spanish and German (not to mention identical English when it is translated back). Surely it must be a trivial, 10 minute, task to produce such a useful Babel fish.

Double Chain All'ed: The enterprise, this is a large use, of which, it is a really good illustration, when acn, which is good computers, it regarded the applicable day with the language of this newspaper.  As in additionally letter a use, this to be French to repair it work, well, to produce grammar, to stop repair German here for Spanish to interior and nonspecific (English, if it to have even to be translate, identically excessively then).  Therefore safe most important necessity little, relati 10 the minute with you, too much company produces with the useful disturbance of the fish.

Unfinished Requests / Monitor Switcher
« on: December 24, 2005, 04:51 PM »
I've got two monitors plugged into my computer but whenever I open a window it always comes up on the monitor to my left. Maybe you could write something which will make one window open on one monitor then the next window on the other monitor then back to the first one then to the second one etc. But I'm guessing that this could be quite impossible as it would mean tampering with my GPU driver (I think)...

Post New Requests Here / GIF animator

A program which allows you to make animated GIF images from several different still images would be very useful. Maybe even an SWF and SCR (screensaver) maker which work in a simmilar way. I don't know anything about programming but I'm guessing that it would be quite an easy program to make.

But don't most websites store your username and password on your computer as a cookie?

Maybe even using a wmv, avi, mov etc as a video desktop background. Or maybe even swf.

« on: December 24, 2005, 03:06 PM »
On MSN messenger, you aren't allowed to send .EXE, .URL, .CFG etc files. Maybe you could write an addon for messenger which adds a few charecters on the end of it eg. application.EXEabc or link.URLabc etc. And when it receives a file with abc at the end of the extention it removes the abc when the file has been received. (Of course, the sender and recipient of the file would both need the program.)

Sometimes with pen drives, I find that the drive letter changes each time you plug it in. Maybe if you programmed someting which could find the right drive by searching its contents rather than going to a specific drive letter... (rest left to your imagination...)

Google Boomerang / Post Results Here
« on: December 24, 2005, 02:30 PM »
If you get any particuarly funny results from Translator Boomerang, post them here remember to specify what you put in, what language you chose and what came out.

I'll start it off with this (it was my mum's idea):
In: Have a merry christmas and don't eat too much turkey.
Language: Double Chain all
Out: NATO does not have the lucky person and it eats not Perù too much.

As you can see i found some very strange unicode charecters...

Messenger.png is the real dialog box that I'm imitating. Messenger.zip is my one. I felt like attaching it as a RAR aswell (Messenger.rar)
