FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: New plugin: FARR Remember The Milk 0.0.3
« on: September 29, 2008, 05:08 AM »
Just tried 0.0.3 but after loging in to rtm and saying "Yes" the website tells me:

"Uh oh... something went wrong. Don't worry though; it's not your fault. The application you're using to interact with Remember The Milk made an error. It might be worthwhile contacting the author of the application and telling them you encountered this page.

Alternatively, you might like to wait a little while and then try again."

Any ideas, what might be wrong?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Please Help! Alias disappears
« on: August 14, 2008, 01:55 AM »
Thanks for your advice herojoker. But the problem is solved for me now. Still the semantics of having "Stop search on regex alias match" disabled doesn't correspond to the behavior of the program, or so it seems to me. I don't want it to stop after matching regex alias and go on showing other results. It works like this most of the time, but not in this case. Thus I believe its a point mouser might want to look into.

Thanks for your help. I solved my problem by adding "^" to the tt-Alias. But it still seems a bug to me ...

Alias looks like this:
Group Alias Name: wetter_muc
Results: Wetter in München | http://www.wetteronl.../Bayern/Muenchen.htm

No Regular Expressions etc.

The three other results are from an alias I made that looked for regular Expression tt.
I just don't know why wetter_muc is hidden. I only reappears  when search text is "wetter_muc".

Search Behavior: Neither Stop on exact match or regular expression are checked nor Score Non-Contiguous matches.

I am somehow confused. Maybe somebody can help me.
Look at the two screenshots. Why is my wetter_muc-alias gone in the second screenshot (after typing another t)? Why do three totally unrelated objects appear? Doesn't make sense to me.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Search and Alias history

drop-down list vs. result list:
though I originally thought it more logical to include search history items in the result list I now also think an additional autocompletion drop-down makes sense, because otherwise history entries interfere with results from the alias. Especially wiht aliases like Table Data Search that use html result panel. I use it to display telefon numbers. I type "tds someverylengthyname" and hit enter (to add it to the history!). Next time I type "tds s" I would like to be offered "tds someverylengthyname" as autocompletion. But the resultlist is not available! And even where it is available it might be a hard decision which score to asign to history items.
Furthermore I think automcompletion should work from the first letter on: I type "t" and it offers "tds" (last alias starting with t) and "tds someverylengthyname" (last search string entered starting with t).

I would try the debug version, too.

I know, but the history is just used when hitting CTRL-UP. It is not included in the search. Furthermore the limit of 20 entries is userful only for the current purpose. A searchable history should be much larger.

As I already mentioned in some other thread I am a strong supporter of this feature (though I don't fully understand s.newaves proposal how /HISTORY-Keyword should work). The key to me seems a larger and separate history file that can optionally be included in search. That would be easy to implement, easy to turn off and very effective.

Hi,
i don't know if this is related, but i recently also have a problem with Farr being unresponsive. it says "Searching Alias ..." and hangs up (well: i can type something, but it doesn't respond to it at all). Task Manager shows processor usage of well above 70% for farr-process. It might have something to do with table search plugin, but i can't really pinpoint the problem, because its working most of the time. Error still occurs quite often.

Great. Thanks for your fast reply!

Hi,
just discovered FARR and it's great and replaced SlickRun, which despite its simplicity was better for me then all other competitors I tried. But one thing I am missing in FARR: an option to make the search string history larger and to include it in the search. When is that usefull? If using Farr to go to webpages or starting google searches, it would be nice to go to that same webpage/websearch again by starting to type it and selecting the search history string. Might also be usefull for other plugins and aliase that use parameters that are then easily reusable.
