Try downloading Custom Desktop Logo 2.1 to see if that fixes the crashing issue: http://customdesktop...wikidot.com/download

Hide the settings window by minimizing it.

None of the mouse buttons work? I'm going to remove the new Orbit.Hook.dll file from the update.

Circle Dock / Re: password

I don't think I will be adding a password into Circle Dock because you could just circumvent it by editing the settings files manually. However, you make be interested in the Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8 Kiosk Version: http://circledock.wi...ircleDockKioskA8.zip

This is simple CircleDock.exe file except that it can't edit anything. You have to use the regular version of Circle Dock to edit the settings, then replace the CircleDock.exe file with this special one. This way, the user won't have an easy way to change the settings.

Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8.2 is Released
« on: October 14, 2008, 12:29 AM »
I've made Polish translation.

Few notes about it:
  • "lockDockAtCurrentPosition" should by available in RMB menu for center dock - instead of options only,
  • "browse" (from File -> Icon Associations group) is not used anywhere - there are buttons with 5 dots instead,
  • "ShowLabelsOnMouseoverOnly" (from Labels group) is not shown - "ShowLabels" duplicated instead,
  • ""LocationWord" is used twice (General group and Location group).
-fenixproductions (October 13, 2008, 09:44 AM)

Thanks for the translation. Yes, there are a few translations not currently used but I intend to use them in the future. Also, there are some repeats because I'm moving more towards separating different sections of the language files for different parts of the program. ie: context menu language for the context menu, settings menu language for the settings menu, etc. This makes it easier if I need to take out a section or replace it.

As the lock the dock option in the right-click menu of the centre orb, would it be more handy there? Is there actually a need to lock and unlock the position of the dock that often?

Circle Dock / Re: Start with Vista startup
« on: October 14, 2008, 12:24 AM »
I made a Circle Dock installer for personal use yesterday, I can upload it if you would like...

Sure! That would be useful. I could make a version with an installer to make it easier to upgrade.

Circle Dock / Re: Start with Vista startup

Circle Dock will remember all your settings and changes. It stores them in the .ini files in the Circle Dock folder under System -> Settings. Since it is alpha-level in terms of development, it is best that there is no installer so that you can easily test new versions by just opening up a folder instead of going through an install and uninstall process.

You can try placing a shortcut to the Circle Dock.exe file in your Windows startup folder. I didn't want to touch anything in the registry. However, you may encounter a bug where the background separates from the rest of the dock on startup. This is something that needs to be fixed.

Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8.2 is Released
« on: October 13, 2008, 08:38 AM »
I haven't changed the code for the CircleDock.exe from the last version in this minor release so the behavior should be the same. The settings form may lag for a second or two when minimize or closing but it should unfreeze afterwards. I know this can be annoying and this will like be fixed once I have things multi-threaded so the GUI doesn't have to wait for calculations in the background.

Glad it works now.  :)

I think you may have posted the wrong image of the Cat because the one you attached doesn't have a transparent background. I'm seeing white.

Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8.2 is Released
« on: October 13, 2008, 08:25 AM »
I am having issues with the XButton 1/2 fix. While I did previously have the bug mentioned (lack of differentiation), I am now unable to use either button to call CD. Is anyone else having this issue?

And btw, those planet icons are awesome.

As a work around right now, I recommend you use http://www.highrez.c...useButtonControl.htm to remap your mouse buttons to a hotkey to toggle Circle Dock.

And I agree, those planet icons look really good! Nelson did a great job!

I've cross out the message about the mouse button problem being fixed on the Circle Dock download page and posted a message to use Alpha 8.1 if you have problems with the new version. This mouse button thing is really bugging me. I thought I had it fixed.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Sigh  :(

Guess, I should pull that message about the mouse buttons being fixed.

You can copy the original Orbit.Hook.dll file from your previous Circle Dock installation into the new Circle Dock folder to reverse the mouse button upgrade.

Alright, I've reuploaded Custom Desktop Logo V2.0 to the website: http://customdesktop...wikidot.com/download

I've tested it on XP & Vista and looks to be running fine now. For some reason Visual Studio Pro is compiling the program differently than with Express so I compiled this as a release edition. Tell me if there is any other problems getting it to start up.

It is definitely something funky with Visual Studio 2008 Pro. Still figuring this one out.

As for the settings panel, click the minimize button to make it go away instead of the X button, which will close the program.

Hmm, I don't think it should matter where it's placed. I have taken down version 2.0 while I try to find out what's wrong since I know version 1.0 works fine on XP and Vista. I've recently switched over to Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Pro from Express and I think it mucked up some of the compilation settings.

I just tested on XP & Vista. Seems for some reason it runs on Vista but not XP. I'll try debugging it.

Circle Dock / Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8.2 is Released
« on: October 13, 2008, 06:42 AM »
Download at https://sourceforge.....php?group_id=237160

A minor release that includes an important bug fix, some new language files, and a set of new icons.
(1) The bug of Circle Dock not taking focus sometimes when toggled by the mouse buttons is fixed with this release. Circle Dock is also now able to properly differentiate between X1 and X2 mouse buttons. This was fixed by rewriting a portion of the Orbit.Hook.dll file responsible for the mouse hooking. This new dll file is smaller (43kb) compared to the older Orbit.Hook.dll file (430 kb). I spoke too soon. This fix isn't working for some people. I thought it was working pretty well on my machine.
(2) New language files are included (ie: Spanish, German).
(3) A new set of "Planet" icons are included with the release, created by Nelson Muñoz. They look really good and are very realistic.

Other features are the same. Still working on Alpha 9. I have been busy with other things and university.

This release (Alpha 8.2) isn't posted on the Circle Dock website yet but I will do it soon. I just want to update the credits page on the website along with posting the link on it.

The file size for the download is at about 12 megs so I have to use my SourceForge account instead of Wikidot to upload the file to. This also means that people in China can download it without being blocked by the government firewalls. I wanted to keep it under 10 megs for easy of download but the graphics are taking up most of the space and they don't compress. Any suggestions to get it under 10 megs for download?

I will take a more thorough look through the code when I have a larger chunk of time to dedicate to it since I'm interested in how the FTP code works.

http://customdesktoplogo.wikidot.com/

This seems like it could be an extension of Custom Desktop Logo so I added in drop folder capability into Custom Desktop Logo V2.0. Screenshots below:

Copy_To.jpg4

With the drop folder option enabled in the tray icon or the settings panel, you can move the logos around as well as still have them animated or static. Custom Desktop Logo uses PNG images so it does alpha blending on the graphics to make them look smooth when displayed on the desktop. Multi-monitor support should also work.

Hold down CTRL while drag and dropping to copy instead of moving. Change the paths of the target folders in the "Drop Folder" tab of the settings panel. You can specify an alternate name for the folders or leave the name field blank to tell Custom Desktop Logo to display the folder path. Click on the logo itself to get a list of your target folders that you can simply open. All the file copying and moving operations are done in a multi-threaded fashion so you can perform multiple copy/move operations at the same time.

There are a couple of limitations with the drop folder capability right now. (1) I hard coded the program to limit it to 20 drop folders in the list. (2) I would like to have a copy/move status indicator for large operations.

Download Custom Desktop Logo 2.0 at http://customdesktoplogo.wikidot.com/. Source code is included on the source code download page (written in C#). Requires .Net 2.0 Framework or later to run it.

I don't have 64-bit Windows installed, but I can get it from MSDN. That would take me quite while to get everything up and running.

Also, I can't seem to download the source code from the CVS for qliner for some reason. It keeps saying the repository has been relocated temporarily. However, I took a browse through the online version of the code and it appears to be straightforward C# for the most part coupled with a Win32 C++ hook. Also, the C# .csproj files show that the executables weren't compiled to be 32-bit specific so it is highly like that qliner is having the same problem that Circle Dock has and you simple just have to add in the instruction to build as x86 into the .csproj files.

97
Want to me to debug it? It's C# so I should be able to get it working or see what's wrong.

Circle Dock / Re: Some suggestions
« on: October 11, 2008, 06:10 PM »
- hide the dock when you click out of the circle.
This should be doable but it may be a little difficult for me to do it right now with the state of the code.

- add the possibility to not show the dock when it is launch. I launch it at Windows's start and it's not necessary to show it.
This is doable. I'll add in an option for it.

- add differents actions for the central button (launch a program for example).
This is doable and I will incoporate it for the next major release.

- hide the icon in the systay
This is a possibility. I just have to make it so that either the settings panel or the dock itself shows up if you try starting the program again. I was just afraid that some people might hide their dock and not know how to call it back up.

- add the possiblity to make a shortcut with shift, control or/and alt AND a mouse button (for example, Shift + Right Click) to show the dock.
Edit : I just noticed sometime the dock doesn't get the focus when it is shown, so we can't use the wheel to turn it.
I was just doing some development on Circle Dock yesterday and for Video In Picture and I will be adding in more mouse combinations to toggle Circle Dock with in the next major release. I have fixed the X1/X2 mouse button distinction, added in the ability to use left-right mouse click combo to toggle the dock, and I will added in the shift+click, ctrl+click options. As a result of the changes I've made to the toggling code, I also believed I have solved the issue of the dock not getting focus sometimes when you use the mouse buttons to toggle it. Essentially, the Orbit.Hook.dll code that was responsible for calling the dock up when you used a mouse button was using PostMessage(...) instead of SendMessage(...). The former command doesn't wait for the dock to execute it's code while the latter does.

I've just tried OSD Mute on my Vista 32-bit laptop and the mute status doesn't get displayed on my screen. Is OSD Mute Vista compatible?

I was one of those in the closed betas and got to try Camspace out. It does work like what you see in the videos and is well implemented but you really need to have lots of lighting in the room and the object you choose should not be similar to the colors in your background or the program can track off course. I still don't think it's a threat for conventional gaming or the Wii because it's pretty hard to use it to replace hardware controllers, especially if you want to push a button or you have lots of intricate commands for the game. I've seen people try to use it to replace a mouse but it doesn't work very well because you can't emulate all the buttons and mouse movements easily and naturally. Perhaps if you build an operating system around Camspace it would work out better.
