yep, its super easy, takes a minute of time.

for example, here would be instructions if you got your domain name from godaddy.com, but all accounts are very similar:

1. Login and navigate to managing your domain.

2. Click on the + next to "Nameservers Summary" if it is not already expanded. Then "Click here to see details or to modify."

3. Enter ns1.donationcoder.com and ns2.donationcoder.com as your nameservers and save

4. Wait for the new nameservers to propagate.  Godaddy says it can take up to 48 hours for these changes to take effect but it usually only takes a few hours.

You make it sound easy, but I'm lost. See my post here:

Living Room / Domain names and how they are set up
« on: October 20, 2005, 10:55 PM »
I saw another discussion of this ...

I have a domain http://clifnotes.net pointing to my host at http://clifnotes.mybesthost.com. I have cpanel access. I notice that as soon as you get to mybesthost, I lose the clifnotes.net name.

I this a setting I can fix somewhere? I got the domain through Yahoo Domains, not my host.

I'd like to see all of my site using the clifnotes.net address. Is it possible?

LOL, I like it! I think it might be interesting to write the author.

I use a personal "start" page in all my browsers that I made myself. One of the prominent links is the the Google Advanced seach. http://www.google.co...dvanced_search?hl=en

Great job using it there Sword.

Living Room / Re: Web Blog Usability
« on: October 18, 2005, 10:11 PM »
Very cool.
I like the WYGIWYS concept. (What you get, is what you see)
Templates you can tweak are the key to it all.

Blogs are a good example of that. You start out with a choice of "skins" and tweak it to make it yours if you are allowed to. Xanga.com is a good place for that sort of blog.

Web editors? I've seen a few people use the templates in NVu to get up and running quickly. I have also recently discovered a web based editor called ezHTMLarea which is based on an open source project. They only have about a dozen templates in it, but they can be endlessly tweaked just like any other HTML doc.

Thanks for the links Mouser

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Complex HTML Tag Assembler
« on: October 18, 2005, 09:57 PM »
i like this idea a lot.. i'm going to think about it a little
it's a bit like the app on this site called "the form letter machine" but with fields and stuff.

stefan i don't understand what you are showing us.. a way to do this already in pspad?

Mouser, you are right, your FormLetterMachine could be easily adapted to do this.

If  you can move that forum here, by all means do so. The popups are not only annoying, but also dangerous to newbies.

Here's the first one that greeted me.

This one is dangerous to your PC's health. It leads to SpywareStormer.
See http://www.spywarewa...gue_anti-spyware.htm and do a in-page search for it.

A popup very similar to this one drew my attention once and I wrote a review of it.

I think it might be nice for them to say that on the front page of the wiki. I actually looked for a few minutes there trying to figure out just what they were up to.

I should have just googled the name.  (duh!)

BrotherS will get right on that one I bet, LOL

the pictures in your first post - they are gone.  guess they were linked to the original site and the original site took the pictures away?

He can link to the photo in my copy of his review. I uploaded them as Lanux does.

I won't tell in here, but if you are curious enough you'll find out over time :D

PS: It's kinda cool when you see that a page that you added reaches 100000 page views in a few weeks only :)

It was easy enough to find at least one. What the heck in Azureus? The site doesn't have an "About" page.

Thanks guys, I've been using Printkey 2000. I'll give SC a go.
Any ready to roll reviews of it anywhere?

Good find Jibz

Technical question: How did you fuzz out some of the screenshot areas?

143
Hi Nighted,

I generally steer my readers away from file sharing, but I like the look of E-Mule. Can you give us a mini-review of it and some do's and don'ts?

We should start a new thread, if you do, put the link here so I can find it.

Living Room / Re: Partitioning hard drive - any point?
« on: October 16, 2005, 12:44 PM »
I'll read that page later, seems to be interesting. Since I spent lots of time thinking about that here's what I think now:

You should use at least 3 partitions:
  • one for your OS and programs (some prefer to split up even those, I don't feel the need)
  • second for your data
  • third for the swap file - this increases the performance, though will not be needed anymore as soon as Gigabyte's i-RAM (Affordable Solid State Storage) version 2 comes out! :)

#1 reason to use a seperate partition for your data is that when you have severe problems a rescue program might help to recover most of your data - but not, if Windows just wrote randomly over appearingly empty blocks...

#2 reason is that indexing programs (for example the great Google Sidebar, which also lets you view the DonationCoder.com RSS feeds perfectly) just don't need to care about your OS partition at all.

#3-10 reasons may follow later ;)

I don't recall how I arrived at this scheme, but I use EXACTLY the same partitions on mine.

Welcome to Clif Notes Newsletter
October 16, 2005

Hi everyone.

The web is going to become a real working place for us in the future. I found three good web applications I tried for this newsletter. I think you'll be amazed at some of the free resources that you can use. Microsoft has been worried about this for a long time. Why would you pay hundreds of dollars for MS Office if you can do the same thing online for free?

Here are the headlines from this week's letter.

Hi all,

Oh, man! I'm going to write Fred to tell him about this.  Carol, that was an amazing report you gave us.

Like many of you, I've used many reg cleaners in the past. I did indeed have problems from RegSeeker once, but the program has since improved. I've been using EasyCleaner for years now with very few problems. I agree with Fred, it's the best.

To be honest though, I rarely run it.

This is a great forum. I can always find something new and the people posting here really know software. Thanks to all of you!
