BitsduJour is offering the latest and brand-new PhraseExpress Professional Edition v10 at 50% discount:

http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/phraseexpress-professional-edition/in=todays-deals-home

PhraseExpress eliminates repetitive typing and is a must for everybody using a keyboard with a Windows PC.

PhraseExpress autocompletes text shortcuts in any application, provides quick access to the clipboard history and auto-complete often used phrases.

Text snippets are managed in multi-level categories and can be stored together with bitmaps and RTF, HTML or native Microsoft Word text formatting.

Phrase folders can be pinned on your desktop for instant access to your phrases.

A Quick Search allows you to narrow down the desired phrase with just a few key strokes.

The unique text prediction learns your individual repetitive text patterns and offers to auto-complete such phrases. Smart algorithms analyze and learn your writing patterns, and suggest the most relevant ways to complete phrases and sentences:

The Autotext feature allows assigning a frequently used text such as your address, your signature or a common phrase to a much shorter abbreviation. Whenever you type in the assigned abbreviation PhraseExpress will automatically replace it with the original text. For example, "ty" will be expanded to "thank you very much. Existing MS Office AutoCorrect entries can be imported for use in any Windows program, not just MS Office.

The Clipboard Cache enhances the native Windows clipboard functionality by remembering all items that are copied to the clipboard and storing them for later pasting. Clipboard contents can be pasted with or without text formatting:

Powerful macro functions can add dynamic contents to static phrases such as the current date, counters or additional manual input. Phrases can be linked or nested. Macros can also launch programs or open documents triggered by shortcuts. Entering 'calc' may open the Windows calculator program or striking the hotkey CTRL-F8 may offer a Google search query of a highlighted text on-the-fly.
A feature-rich automation macro language include if-then-else statements, string operations and data comparison.

You can find many programming examples at http://www.text-expander.com

PhraseExpress can be used in client-/server environments including Firebird and Microsoft SQL server support.

PhraseExpress can also run in portable mode from USB thumb drives.

Multiple phrase files can be loaded at the same time and optionally synced via Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive, or a network share.

Check out what's new in v10: http://new.phraseexpress.com

Most mouse and keyboard sharing solutions, we are aware of, use the TCP network data protocol to transmit mouse cursor and keyboard input updates:

TCP is packet-based. TCP packets have a pre-defined static size. TCP transmits packets only if they are fully packed (in the particular application, data updates have to match the defined TCP packet size in order to be dispatched immediately) or after a time-out. If your mouse/keyboard data update packet doesn't fill up a complete packet, TCP waits for the next packet to finish the pending packet or waits for the time-out to dispatch the data -> Laggy cursor.

Possible solutions:

1. Reduce the TCP time-out parameter which will slow down your whole TCP transfer as small unfinished packets with a lot of packet overhead will entertain your wires. Too small values may stall your switch/router/network adapter.

2. Use a dedicated network connection between your computers to isolate mouse and keyboard data from other TCP traffic and experiment hours by tweaking the TCP packet size to matches the mouse/keyboard data update size. I actually don't know but hope for you, that Synergy uses data updates with static size to allow you matching with the TCP packet size. Otherwise you have to deal with a target that moves faster than a bullet.

Good luck.

For people, who have things to get done, other makers invested man-years to develop a custom protocol that is optimized to meet special requirements of mouse and keyboard sharing. Sometimes, pearls do not shine on the surface but under the hood.

I'm sure software such as yours makes it very easy to post this sort of thing rapidly and efficiently

I am glad, that you explore potential uses for our software. But to be honest, I haven't used PhraseExpress for my posting. It was a hand-made text and a boilerplate template manager doesn't help too much. PhraseExpress may just have corrected a few typos or expanded frequently used single words. However, the complete sentences are too specific to be saved as a text snippet.

As you are so passionate about following our communicaton over the whole internets so closely, you may consider to subscribe to our Twitter account. Just in case you want to stay up-to-date.

Dear "Clean",

We are happy, that your experience with our Text Expander "PhraseExpress" convinced you to use our latest software "ShareMouse" as well.

Your continued loyalty over many years is appreciated very much.

Thank you for your compliments about our support offerings. We are getting hundreds of freeware user inquiries, ranging from requests to analyze users sophisticated networking environments, to fix enhanced automation scripts or even to develop those for them free-of-charge. We appreciate your understanding, that we unfortunately do not have the resources to provide unlimited free consulting services for our freeware offerings. Those are provided "as-is" on a complimentary basis.

We actually do provide technical support for our freeware users for issues, which are helpful for the general userbase. The forum is used as a dynamic FAQ in this regard. We are sorry, if your particular requests have not been falling into this category, but again, you are using a complimentary offering and we appreciate, that you to take it as such.

Your choice of alternatives is just fine. There are hammers and there are other hammers. Both are a tool.

You probaby don't need to save text formatted text snippets or use a Mac to realize, that different tools are different (in many more ways). User requirements are different, too.

It's from Bartels, so please see any thread world-wide where some of Bartels' products is treated, Bartels himself quickly intervenes, and in a way you won't believe your eyes.

Thank you, that you recognized our responsiveness and dedication to our software and users.

I tried ShareMouse, got a problem with it, kindly requested their opinion about it, and never got a reply.

We are running a public support forum and I couldn't find any unanswered inquiry.

Could you please provide a link to your posting? I will make sure asap, that your inquiry will be answered.

Furthermore, it's about 30 dollars plus VAT PER COMPUTER

ShareMouse cost USD 24.95 per computer and I am happy to annouce, that GAOTD BdJ will run a $10 promotion very soon. Enjoy!

setting paste method per application

1. Duplicate the phrase(s) which need application-dependent paste methods.

2. Apply the desired paste method via the #pastemethod macro function to one instance of the phrase.

3. Restrict that instance to the desired specific program(s).

4. Exclude the other instance of the same from the desired programs (as defined in 3.).

Voila. This solution is not suitable for a larger number of phrases though.

--

I kindly ask you to post future technical support questions to our support forums as I do not permanently monitor this forum and you will get faster response times when posting directly in our forum. Thank you.

Sure, PhraseExpress supports all known paste methods:

* Key-by-Key (WM_Char, VKPacket, Sendkey)

* Clipboard Pasting

Please learn more at http://manual.phraseexpress.com#pastemethod

You can even define the desired paste method for each phrase separately, if you want: http://manual.phraseexpress.com#pasteoptions

We don't entertain a fixed release schedule. A new version is published when it is mature and suitable for a release.

Anyway, its easy math: This 70% discount plus the 50% upgrade discount for any future v9 still makes it a great opportunity.

13
Please enjoy a 70% discount and get PhraseExpress at a whopping 70% discount.

Please use this link to get the discount. The promotion is valid through 11/06/2011.

14
It will probably more interesting to compare "PhraseExpander" (quite smart name, Andrea) against the upcoming freeware InstaPhrase.de that seem to look almost identical:

15
ShareMouse will not have any trial period that would expire after x days. These x days trial models are stupid as those can be easily hacked.

Instead, you can test ShareMouse for an unlimited "trial" period. The final version will just disconnect after a few minutes of use.

16
Renegade, I believe it would be more efficient to just...

1. Unzip the 1MB ShareMouse Portable files on your desktop

2. Double-Click the ShareMouse runtime .exe

...than writing multiple posts indicating that you consider to try it out. I doubt that you would trust 2nd hand information more than your own.

;-)

17
Current download offers drag & drop between Windows PCs only and remote control between Mac <-> Win.

Next week we will add drag & drop between Mac <-> Win.

18
Drag & Drop files between Mac OSX and Windows - Sneak preview

Download will be available next week.

19
Could someone tell me if any of these programs works with 2 computers on different LANs? (same question as in my previous post)

I'd recommend to use a dedicated shared network connection for a Software KVM solution. ShareMouse (like other solutions) won't be able to hop across separated networks without quirky work-arounds.

There may be good reasons why your network is separated (security?!) and you probably ask for trouble and performance loss if you try to link them.

--

By the way, we are now working on drag & drop of multiple files between Mac and Windows PCs. We will perhaps be able to post a demo video later today.

Can't wait to show it to you guys. Stay tuned.

20
A sort of flow control will be in the next PhraseExpress version.

--

Instaphrase will be based on our core technology but presented in a new user interface which we had in mind for a long time already. Instaphrase will be for those who like many buttons, ribbons and a colorful user interface.

But you are right, that Ribbons are a love&hate issue. This is why we don't build them into PhraseExpress. Many users tell us not to change the user interface for good reasons.

PhraseExpress aims to have the tidiest and cleanest user interface possible (if in Easy mode ) to get the work done. We carefully balance the need of every button and every option before it makes it into the user interface.

So we see little overlap in the userbase.

22
Indeed, our web server is down. I hope our hosting provider 1&1 will sort it out quickly. You can find at Twitter, that many other companies with dedicated servers running at 1&! are affected too. Seems to be a bigger problem.

23
Please post technical issues at the ShareMouse support forums.

> Is there any way to disable the dimming feature?

I gladly confirm that you can disable the dimming feature. There is a setting for this in the settings area. It is labelled "Dim inactive monitors" for your convenience. If you set it to none, then it is disabled. You can also choose any dimming from none to 80%.

24
Yes, it is a shame that the iPad is sealed to that extend. Would be nice if Apple would offer a switch to let users the choice.

We can't overcome the restrictions without such switch.

25
Any chance ShareMouse could be made to work with an iPad.

There is no chance because Apple locked up the iPad and prevents us to run the required mouse & "keyboard" (touchpanel) hook on the iPad. If this changes, we will be first to make an iPad version. We use it, too.

By the way, there is MaxiVista for the iPad, that allows you to use your iPad as a monitor for your Windows PC. No remote control mode though.

Our apologies for the inconvenience.

I kindly ask for your understanding that we are not able to develop for Jailbreakers alone as this would not make sense business-wise.
