Find And Run Robot / Re: dosearch only shows the first line
« on: May 08, 2009, 09:45 AM »
@mouser, i use them daily and i see no problem here

i don't think it is possible to use multiple dosearch in a result lists... i think you can use only one dosearch at a time...

Find And Run Robot / Re: File icons not showing up

same here since last release i believe

i still think the best would be a separate "box" for arguments or modifiers...

Last version is amazing !

i'm having real fun with the new -launch command
and the experimental delay search start seems to make FARR even more responsive

this is a real delight, keep up the good work mouser

i've been pretty sick for last couple of days.. easy request, i'll add in next update.

sorry to hear that, hope you are feeling well soon  :)

Cheers, nitrix-ud

Can I create some alias to search in a particular folder. I've these tv shows and sometimes i want an episode. so when i would type "family guy blue harvest" it would start searching in a specified folder. Is that possible?

sorry i have no time to answer your question...
but here are some hints:

search folders optional keyword modifier (specify your folder there then add a keyword modifier : tvshow)
use dosearch command in an alias :
name of alias : tvshow
regex mask : ^tvshow (.*)
(Search tvshow $$1 | dosearch +tvshow $$1)

any toughts about this request ?

on a side note any news about web addressbar ?

same with delicious plugin

Hi mouser,

i don't think there is a way to get the search box value in an alias, but i think that would be very handy

i have several aliases with regex mask and for some i'd like to be able to get the what's in the search box
so i new variable would be great : %current_searchbox_value%

Find And Run Robot / Re: Slow to open folders
« on: April 01, 2009, 12:29 PM »
this happens to me with firefox (but i would say a few seconds...!!!!)

this is because after some time and some manipulations, firefox is the default browser but not quite ;) (i guess chrome or internet explorer are stealing some settings...)

when i set the default browser to be firefox through the windows xp "set default programs" dialog, then all works again very fast

so in my experience, the use of the custom browser setting in FARR should work, but resetting the explorer could maybe fix something...

+1 for me too ;)

love slenderFARR skin but it is a bit buggy
and it kind of flickers inside the search box when using auto-shrink display

thanks for your answers mouser ;)

and i'm happy to hear a new version is on its way.

my feature request about command-line invocation is to silently change a FARR user variable.

like many, i work on a project basis, and when switching from one project to an other, i'd like to silently modify FARR user variable so that i can reflect that change in FARR

for instance, say i have an alias to add a note to the project i'm currently working on, i could use an up-to-date FARR user variable holding the name of that project to improve result readability
Add note to Project "Project XYZ"

that would be very handy indeed !

and what about MY problem ;) ???

i'm trying to use setuservar from an alias (not a plugin) by the way...

Find And Run Robot / [feature request] request for new variables
« on: March 27, 2009, 03:34 AM »

would be handy ;)

i can't make this work...

setuservar USERVARNAME=VALUE - sets the value of a user variable (e.g. setuservar twitter.username=donationcoder)

this works perfectly : %uservar.SectionName.variablename%

but i can't set a user variable

now i think i have a feature request for you mouser !
Could you add the possibility to set a user variable from outside ?

by command-line for example :
C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\FindAndRunRobot.exe -setuservar twitter.username=donationcoder

that would be great :) to be able to interact with FARR like so

Cheers, keep up the good work and keep giving us frequent releases ! (i'm waiting for the internal browser toolbar !)

Find And Run Robot / beta testing : some comments
« on: March 19, 2009, 05:25 AM »
hi mouser,

i'm trying the new beta version
first congrats !! that's so cool to see new releases...

so now some bugs/comments :

%LASTURL% is always "about:blank" for me
%LASTURLSET% seems to work ok

still some javascript bugs completely crashing FARR (i had to kill it manually)

my advice is to completely ignore javascript bugs, FARR internal browser is not for debugging  :D
it should be as tolerant as possible

i'm happy to make the custom file explorer available as a %variable% so you can pass it on commandline if you like.

good idea ;)

please while you are at it, could you please add the %LASTURL% variable ;)  :P

Find And Run Robot / internal browser toolbar ?
« on: March 18, 2009, 10:45 AM »
any news on the internal browser front ?

from a previous correspondance
you really should try to improve FARR html view usability
by adding a small toolbar (with an adress bar, a button to open the
current page in the default browser, and a button to copy the url into
FARR search input...)
by improving handling of links... say i want to google something using
FARR internal html view then open the result in my full blown
browser... i cannot do that... (there is no way to do it right now)
if internet explorer is the default browser, then you can shift+click
the link, it will open in internet explorer...
unfortunately that does not work for firefox
i'd like to shift-click a result to open the link in my default
browser.... and i'd like FARR to close at the same time...
and we need that lasturl value !! to be able to reopen FARR where it was...

and please please add the %LASTURL% value (to be accessed in aliases like ... %LASTHWND%)
so that we can the internal browser where it was...

I should have an update today available with it and a few other fixes.

great !

mouser, I was thinking about creating a "faf" alias command to edit the list, but it seems as though if I edit the alias file externally, the list doesn't automatically update the next time I type the alias. I could get it to do so if I manually opened up the "edit alias" box and closed it again, but not otherwise. Is there a way to get it to automatically rescan the alias file and refresh the results list? I'd like to add this functionality.

try the #filecontents command ;)

here is my config for the delicious plugin

here is my results list when i type d

i have no idea why "dlc" appear ...
and when right-clicking on it, a contextual menu with a command "visit the alias" appears but when you click on it it's not working

Find And Run Robot / Re: question about search folders options
« on: March 16, 2009, 12:47 PM »
great !  :D

any feature that can help people remove unwanted results is good i think ;)

Find And Run Robot / Re: question about search folders options
« on: March 16, 2009, 12:09 PM »

maybe i did not understand exactly how FARR works about this, but the idea is to remove sub-folders from being "shown" in result list for a particular folder
