mouser,

The thing is that I get this error now matter which program is using or accesing the shell. Lets say I am running a python script that outputs the shell. The first line of the execution is this message than Python prints out the result of the script.

So it is not an isolated application that is refusing to play nice with the windows shell. It looks like my environment variables are intact. I cannot find any trace of "program files" in the environment variables. Searching for c:\program brings hit loads of results in the regedit so that is not a feasible method.

When I hit win+r and type cmd.exe, this is the message I get. When i run cmd.exe from within the Windows directory, this is the message I get. So the cmd.exe has this message embedded somewhere, since many other apps use cmd.exe, they print out the very similar message.

Hi

'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.'

I need some serious insight into this problem since this thing started taking a toll on my system.  I am using Windows 7. Couple months ago I have started getting this message. This message shows up anytime I open a command shell(cmd.exe), or any program that relies on windows shell like Python, some installers etc etc. Sometimes because of this error some apps refuse to work or refuse to install as well. I have been searching for a solution for couple weeks and I cannot find any solution.

Does anyone have any insight about why this might be happening?

thanks

General Software Discussion / Re: Best Python IDE
« on: January 18, 2010, 04:50 PM »
If people don't need a "big IDE", but want something to help them code in python, there is bpython. It features a completion system similar to IntelliSense, which is quite neat. However, I haven't used bpython much myself, so I can't say how stable it is, or if there are annoyances.

I haven't used PIDA lately, because I couldn't get it to start. So for me it's back to vim and its sessions feature, which is all I need for now. I don't do much refactoring or gui stuff (yet)...

Bpython looks good, at the moment I am under windows but will try it under my Ubuntu box.

On the otherhand there is Ipython which is great and wors in all platforms, I believe it is similar to Bpython

Hi

I just saw his blog entry yesterday. I do not know the guy and has no affiliation with him. I have used his image viewer some time ago and it was nice and snappy. It sounds like he needs some support from his users. I know the economy is really bad nowadays, and everyone is affected by it to certain degree including myself. So these times are not so great for donating but I thought I should make a post about it anyways. I have not donated myself yet but I wil do later today.

Here is the app

I have not gotten email from them either. But the thing was that one of the apps installed itself as trial(maybe I have downloaded the trial version accidentally), It was the invoice one. At the end of the trial it would open the webpage with my real email adress put in the contacts section of the upgrade page. And sometimes you know web sites would have urls with the contacts or context name, some kind of php thing, my email adress was in the url bar as well which is something that can be parsed from their web server logs. So it was  not a simple ohh lets open a webpage everytime the app starts. This has happened to me multiple times.  So either it was snooping on the the local email accounts, or it was using the contact information that was put in the software. But in anycase that is a breach of privacy to me. Whatever I put in a local application belongs to me and not meant to be scooped out like that. What they did was a sneaky way of gathering that personal information out of my computer.

You know they have some good free software, but their consistent sneaky practices do not make their intention of letting people use their free apps any better. Here is a my quote from another topic.

"I so hate those guys and their practices so much. They are so sneaky. When you install one app they install all those shortcuts. I am also feeling like they are snooping on people`s Thunderbird or Outlook email accounts. I cannot be sure but I have seen couple situations where I felt like how the hell they got my email adress. Me never puts any of my real email adress, not even on  legitimate purchases."

If you know what they are up to, or have some good examples of bad behaviours from them please write it down here so that people know who they are dealing with.

I use this one

http://lockhunter.co...mp;sm=main_window_64

I personally have no respect for people bundle crapware into their apps whatever their resonings are. If you want to make money, make it shareware. If you want to make it free, make it free then. If you cannot find enough time or resource to improve your app,  then stop developing it. Installing crapware spyware etc is just plain dishonesty.

General Software Discussion / Re: Text editor with filtering of lines
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:15 AM »
Vim has couple scripts for search related filtering. Beside the scrips you can use gnu grep or Vim`s internal grep fro filtering lines in a new buffer. I generally use ":g -search text-" which is the easiest of all. Will show all the lines with the seach text.

hi kartal, sorry for the late reply. I've had a very short supply of time lately.

I don't understand what you mean by relative .info folder. Say that you use filenoter on "C:\folder\file.mp3".
What should then be generated? "C:\folder\.info\file.mp3.txt"?

Hi

Yes that would be it for me.

@Nod5:

How do I create a relative path for the current file? I just want to be able to put all my notes fieles under a relative ".info" folder. I also do not want to create these folders manually. Is it possible?

192
I use Taskcoach, it does ok job. The only issue I have with it is that it does not let you enter manual time span. You can put manual entries between this time and this time but it wont let you enter something like 8 hours on 11-21-2009. You need to enter a starting time and ending time which is awkward sometimes

193
hey thanks for all the replies. I am trying Netscan right now.

Stoic thanks for simplfying it. I was wondering waht the magic packet was :)

Shades, I have seen the mentions about either from Amd or from Intel butnone are available :(

Hi

Does anyone know of any tool that would let me wake up a standby computer on the lan? I changed the bios and network card settings under windows. I tried various modes and none seemed to work. Either computer goes in to standby and comes back in 10 seconds or never wakes up

thanks

Hey you might want to try Poser and Poser libraries. They might be helpful either for posing-final rendering or for making initial poses and then tracing.

Some people just think that people like me  are just causing nonsense buzz here and there. I just want to remind you that some of you people give enormous power and wealth to some of those dishonest companies (by just surfing the web without protection:) for example GOOGLE. I know most people just like GOOOGLE, just cannot goto bed without GOOOGLE because GOOOGLE gives them couple bux every month via adsense or let them track updates about their name or company name searches. Well, this is a story just out of the FAUST story.

In the past we had booogie man to scare kids, well I use GOOOOGIEE man to scare my kid now. try it, it works.

How about linux ? I am also thinking to turn my laptop into a firewall with internet sharing. Would that be a good solution?

Actually one of the things I am really wanting is to see which application is trying to connect outside. I think most of these windows firewalls show that. Is there such thing under linux? I bet there is but something with a decent gui which is what I am interested in.

Lashiec I hope you are not making fun of me by offering WF as asolution, because I said that my budget is tight this year. I see no shame involved with being under funded nowadays.
There's no shame in being under-funded, and there's not much reason to use anything but Windows' built-in firewall.

Except that you do not know what the hell is going on, no  idea about what is comign what is going, who uses what.
