Is it possible to append text to a file without recreating the file? I am just afraid that that would change creation modification dates of the file, and that info is much needed for the file I am working with.

Justice that adds to bottom of the text, is there a way to add to beginning of the text file?

Perry Mowbray

thansk for the script, I will try it today.

One more method I use is through "launchy" . I made launcy command "todo" which uses my default notepad and sends my path\to\mytodo.wiki as argument to notepad. What I do is press "capslock" to activate launcy and type "todo". This will open "mytodo.wiki" in my default notepad and then I will type the stuff, for example todo:read the book. Since "todo:" is a special keyword in wikipad it will show in special view. In wikipad mytodo wiki page will be activated with the new stuff I just have typed. It works great. And you can use this for any wiki page since all are text based

What I am looking for is actually a way to append text to any file via command line. This way I can just pass any text line to any wiki page without opening any text editor via launcy or farr. Probably there is a way but I have not searched for a solution seriously yet.

You could also checkout WinWorkBar at http://vetch.magot.pl/

I am looking for very lightweight task-todo manager

-reminder
-colored text options for tasks and content
-priority
-free
-ability to use "win" key for global shortcut (thou no deal I can probably write an ahk script).
-would be nice to have calendar
-very very small memory usage

ahh, I had a slightly older version that did not have that. I downloaded the new version and it has the date function. Thanks

Thanks, it looks nice but it does not have insert date-time :(

Is there a true unicode international language supporting notepad replacement? I have turkish named files and some notepad replacements cannot open those files while notepad itself can open them.

Also in the latest beta you can copy any topic`s url to clipboard which then you can use it to launch that particular page from farr, launcy or explorer.

Ok let me tip you

I made this simple ahk script. It works great for me. Just modify the capitals for your files. This will activate wikipad if it has been opened if not it will open and activate it for you. It is using "win+w" combination. Make sure that shortcut is not conflicting with other softwares.

Second, I do not use scratch pad at all. I have daily record wikipage I use to put random bits, I use dated headline and type. If the info is more then a line I use a page. In that sense I use ctrl+o shortcut. If there is similar Wikipad will bring it if not it will create a new page. It works blazing fast for me.

Also I use launchy to launch notepad with a file pointing to my wikipad file that would create new file with with a title I give in launchy command window. But that requires to rebuild the database inside Wiki constantly, since it wont detect the file.

#IfWinExist PUT TITLE OF YOUR WIKIPAD FILE
{

#w::WinActivate

}

#IfWinNotExist PUT TITLE OF YOUR WIKIPAD FILE
{
#w::
run "PATH TO WIKIPAD.EXE"
WinActivate
Return
}

Have to say this was a great tip, I'm still using WikidPad to access shared information between work and home via Jungledisk (amazon s3) and it never fails to deliver.

That's good to hear. I generally run mine off a USB between home and work.

One thing that I have not quite figured out is that when something pops into my head that I want to catch WikidPad invariably is not yet running, so starting, finding a spot etc takes a bit too long. I know I should have it running anyway really  :-[

What I think I want is something in the tray that can capture my thought quickly, run the programme if needed and then stick it into the Scratch Pad for later? I'll probably have a fiddle with AutoIT...

Wikipad has grown steadily without comprimising speed and usability. I use it everyday without any drawbacks. It has a lot of neat ideas and functionalities. It has clipboard catcher with image support, multiple database types, speacial views, todos, anchors, icon support. Actually list is too long. It is just a different kind of program that may not fit either in text editor or note taking groups.

Wikipad cannot do that. It is a wiki based system. A tree view in Wikipad is just a represantation of data structure. If you want to move things in your treeview easily I would say go for Keynote. I thought in keynote you can reposition your items.

What I really want, though, is the ability to move things around by using the treeview and options to look at text just in a single node, a set of nodes or the whole document. And neither Wikipad nor

Ultra explorer is such a nicely optimized and organized explorer replacement. It has drop box, history,column view etc that are not available in free other replacements.

Carol thank you so much. For some reason the I cannot see "the promotion code box" where I enter the code. It seems like empty spot there(just blank). SO I did not think that that is where I should put. Maybe My lcd`s contrast is not good enough to show subtle html coloring there if there is anything.

This is weird then because I cannot get the place where you guys put the discount code. It says that discount is not available for me.

An Alternative to keynote would be Wikipad, with strong inter page and document linking, treeview etc

Thanks, but the version in this topic does not do that? Did you put it somewhere else?

:) kartal: I've made a version that shows the taskbar when the windows key is released, it will work better with Win+E and other hotkeys.

nogojoe: I could add a proper pause action. When you pause now, the taskbar is still set to autohide and so it hides completely.

Armando: Try downloading TweakUi from microsoft, I think it has an option to disable button flashing.
