Living Room / Re: Questions about upgrading my Linux distro
« on: May 08, 2008, 02:57 PM »
upgrading xubuntu through the update panel should work fine, but if your system has been acting up then its probably worth doing a full install anyway, to fix the problems.

now seems to be a good time to do that, with 8.04 being an lts release, and should have less bugs than other versions - i certainly havnt had any problems

General Software Discussion / Re: Your fav' audio CD burner?
« on: May 06, 2008, 03:32 PM »
I'd second that, although iv'e only used the free version (media jukebox - google it), for general cd burning (and audio) i would reccomend infra recorder - sorry, i would link, but im using ie8 and its taking like a minute just to display a line of text, and using 50 cpu at the same time.

well to me it would seem to make sense to have it do the opposite, i.e. download to from ftp to a backup folder locally would be useful.

hi, i was wondering if it would be possible to make a small app that would minimize any app to the system trayn when you right click the minimize button

yes i know taskswitch-xp does this, but it also makes alt-tab slower.

also clicking the system tray icon to restore

if your willing to pay however much it is for dreamweaver, then its worth buying it just for its code view, otherwise aptana (http://www.aptana.com) has both free and paying versions(used to be just free! grrr) and supports all those features + direct saving to ftp and many different code highlighting options

The "Expose clone for Windows" category is CROWDED. Defintely a category in which one is spoiled for choice, both free and shareware. yatta, are you by chance the developer of winExpose?

nope, ive just used it, and it is the quickest and lightest of the winExpose clones that i have seen, its also free.

i keep all non-spam emails, i use gmail which makes i easy to keep everything, i might just need it, and i can search for it quickly, and its actually easier than deleting(you have to confirm deleting)

GOE 2007 Challenge Downloads / Re: MyHelp - GOE Challenge 2007 Entry
« on: January 24, 2008, 01:48 PM »
my suggestion, export and import records so you can share with friends, say just one record, or a few at a time, or a whole category, maybe as xml, whole category browse mode, and also online syncronization could be good.

p.s. will it run portably?

p.p.s. ITS GREAT!!! i have tried to do similar with stickes and stuff, but this searches and keeps it all in one place, also a suggestion from a friends, a minimode with an always on top function, so that you can add notes quickly, maybe if you dont select a category it goes into unfiled category, so you can add quicker, also less popups confirming when you add a note/help topic.

i see from the rest of thread that you are busy, maybe you could release the source code, or maybe things dont work like that on this site...
