General Software Discussion / Font Control in Outlook 2010
« on: June 08, 2014, 10:13 AM »
As a 92 year old almost blind person I depend upon my PC for contact with the world. I've learned how to enlarge the default font in windows 2010 and in outlook 2010 with the exception of the message text. I would like to have the Outlook 2010 default message text to be Arial, Black 15 point. Can you give me path to making this happen?

Find And Run Robot / Caps Lock
« on: May 27, 2014, 09:26 AM »
As a 912 year old who is almost blind I have been using a program,"SmartCaps". Once downloaded it beeps when one depresses the caps lock key and says, Caps on or caps off. This is an very valuable aid to someone like me who is visually handicapped. Unfortunately the developer is no longer in business and the only place I could fimnd to download this program is CNET. Downloading from CNET is quite a chore because they load up additional unwanted programs atthe same tuime unless you are very careful. But when you do download smartcaps you get a 30 day trial. But is you try to buy it for $15 you find thast link no longer works.
If you know of another similar program please answer.

Hi- I''m a 91 year old retiree with severe vision loss. I depend upon my PC and video reader to keep in touch with the world. In my first career I served as a regular Ar, Signal Corps Officer and when retired I joined the zMartin Marietta Corpopartion  as the Director of c3I programs. Upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65 I again retired only to be hired back as a consultant. After getting my feet on the ground in this world of consulting I started serving other companies than MMC and grew the organization to 12 full time and about 50 part time associates. When my wife's deteriorating health required my full time attention I sold the company to the full time employees and retired again.ife passed 3 years ago and I now live alone with daily health aides helping me

When I switched to IE( and windows 7) I found that a program I used constantly would not work. Numerous e-mails which generated prompt replies from the source failed to get the program restored. I've given up and am now looking for a free program to use instead. I know such a program exists but I cannot name it.

Living Room / Re: 64 Bit OS - When to Switch ?
« on: July 19, 2011, 02:56 PM »
The developer of the siftware program, RoboForm  advuises that this program will omnly run under the 32 bit bversion of IE9. So I still need to be able to download and install IE( (32bit)

« on: July 19, 2011, 08:12 AM »
I have a problem involving the 64 bit OS. I have same and it works finer. However I have one program -RoboForm- that I rely on to store web site IDs and passwords that will not run on 64bt browser-requires a 32 bit browser. When I try to download and install the 32 bit I get message saying later version already installed and will not allow me to proceed. Is there a way I can install IE(32 bit and IE9 64 bit??

I'me new at  this game of format conversion. I think what I need is a converter for e-mails and another for video. Or is there one super converter which handles all??

probably not what you want to hear but i'd consider sticking with xp.
and i'm a fan of "nothing but clean OS installs"

with the price of PC's these days, what i always recommend is:
  • keep your old pc and don't try to upgrade it; if it works well enough, leave it alone.
  • when you are ready to move up, buy a new computer, with windows 7 (or whatever) on it.
  • leave both machines in runnable state for a month as you migrate over any data, and take your time leisurely testing, etc.
  • after a month or so when everything runs perfectly on your new pc, and you know all your data is on the new pc and fine, then you can consider putting the old pc in a closet in case you need it one day.

WSin 7 still needs to address open issues. Here's one for someone to work on. If one wants to scan a docuument or image into an e-mail they must have either Outlook or outlook express. In particular HP scanners do not provide this capability if you use Windows Mail. I need this capability for my business so I'm going to dump Windows 7 and go back to Xp-SP3 and outlook express.

Go to Acronis web site. You can down load a free 15 day trial of latest version. This is a super program and the real image of your PC allows you to rerstore after a complete failure very easily.
