FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: SendMessage Plug-in
« on: July 27, 2007, 09:18 AM »
this could definitely be incredibly useful. Thanks Ehtyar!

852
Haven't had too many of these lately, but from time to time. Hopefully I'll never see this stuff again... :)

853
Yes, please share your aliases! I organize my mp3s just like that, too, so it would be very helpful!

854
I understand not sentence of word that displayed of forums on Coder of Donations.

855
Really cool plugin!

Paste to active window would be an excellent enhancement indeed

Won't replace CHS quite yet, but if there's a way to manipulate clips (UPPER/lowercase, etc) then maybe. Predefined clips should be possible through aliases if I'm not mistaken (haven't played with aliases much, but the default and the ones I've downloaded here are awesome!).

sounds cool! Care to provide a downloadable alias (yes, I know how to copy'n'paste...)?

General Software Discussion / Re: GMail Drive in My Computer

having 5 gigs of web space is just enough for a song, well some songs are a bit bigger, but I have been known to post songs in a conversation on a few forums.
Eh? songs bigger than 5 gigs?

858
Selected text IMO also, Allen put it well enough for the both of us i think.

Ehtyar.
What Ehtyar said.

A bit ambitious, but I'm currently exploring the art of brickfilming (making films with LEGO minifigs), and that would certainly be a pretty cool and inexpensive way to shoot this "fight" :D

Requires quite a bit of work, so for FARR v.5... maybe ;)

But the feel of unresponsiveness is not because of the result display but because of the display of the keys as I type them (just that one line). The user should never have any doubt whether her keystrokes have been received... or worse, be in any doubt about what keystrokes she has already typed. When a keystroke is received, top priority should be to update this line.

Mind you, this is really borderline, really close to perfect, just not quite.
Have to agree with this. FARR is such a great app, and some excellent new and improved features, but the slight delay is a bit annoying. Could the behaviour be optional?

861
Great idea! I don't have the time to do it, but it'd be a lauch surely!

Maybe we could come up with some lines here...

I was thinking something like this for the intro part:
"Have YOU ever been in a situation where you need to start a particular computer software application and you can't find that darned mouse? I bet you have! Well, the kind people of DonationCoder.com have come up with the perfect solution! blablabla..."

862
Excellent plugin! Finally an easy way to make passwords through FARR :)

A request: let only specific punctuation be available? the {ALL}{ALL}etc. approach works well, except it seems only the underscore is usually allowed (on password protected sites) from the list of general punctuation, so preferably I'd like only the underscore to be available...

I don't know if that made sense, so bear with me  :-[

When i copy a file on explorer, it is stored in Ditto (not the file, only the link to it). So, i can later want to move that file anywhere and paste it through Ditto.
mouser, are you reading this!? ;) Sounds like an excellent feature!

I could never get Ditto to work, for some reason. I like CHS a lot, so hopefully some of the more advanced clipboard management features of Ditto/ArsClip/ClipX will be incorporated some day  :-[

864
I just installed tag2find, and although I've only been using it for an hour or so, I like what I'm seeing. Can't give a proper review just yet, but it definitely looks a keeper!

New Farr tagline: "FARR: making start menus unuseful since 2005"
:D

I agree that the Start Menu is just messy. I have a shortcut for it in my LiteStep menu, but I use FARR 95% of the time, and LBC or Total Commander for the rest. Before I found FARR, I built my own menu in LiteStep, with my selection of apps, not the start menu stuff (who needs a readme or uninstaller in the start menu? I don't.).

Activation/License/Language Help / Re: High and Low?
« on: June 14, 2007, 04:30 AM »
Welcome to DC and the forums!

While I suppose this is in the wrong place in the forum, I guess I'll try to answer you:

Force High means that Process Tamer will tell a specified app to run in High priority. I don't know much about hardware, CPU, etc. but I think this means that an application will use more of the CPU power which might lead to it responding quicker among other things.

Force Normal can be used if an app has a higher or lower CPU priority than you want it to. I use it for KatMouse utility. It is originally a High priority, but I don't need it to, so it's forced Normal

Force Low: I think you understand this now, but essentially it's the opposite of Force High. Maybe an app uses too much CPU time at the cost of other apps, so you can let Process Tamer automatically force it to use Low CPU.

Hope that made sense!

867
Took advantage of this. Will be very useful!

General Software Discussion / Re: Safari 3 for Windows!

hm, wonder how they got those html-rendering results. Every test I've ever made and pretty much all tests I've read about lists Opera as the fastest...

.. requests for Screenshot Captor.

Okay; I request a junior version which will work as integrated with Windows Image & Fax Viewer!
- and maybe even replace the clipboard!
How about MiniCap? I don't know if it does what you want, but it's a cool little brother to SC.

I've always preferred lowercase characters (a-z,0-9) with underscores as separators. Sometimes uppercase in beginning of words, but usually all lowercase. Don't know why, just a preference :)

Right-click the CHS icon, click 'Options and Preferences' and within the 'Clipboard' tab, there is a section for custom naming of the clips.

DesktopCoral / Re: Er...what am I missing here?
« on: May 31, 2007, 06:35 AM »
DesktopCoral is an unusual program designed to "reserve" some portion of your desktop which is shielded from maximized applications..

Essentially, it acts like an invisible resizeable docking bar, which can be docked to any side of your desktop. This invisible dock acts as a barrier to maximized applications and essentially shields this area of your desktop from other applications.

Within this shielded area you might put certain application windows that you want to be always visible, or you might put one of the many desktop tools like a calendar or system information component.
-Description of DesktopCoral

In short, it's not a dock per se, it is just able to "block" a part of your desktop area from maximised applications, which is similar to what your average docking app does.

If you want a dock in the "toolbar sense", i.e. for shortcuts, I suggest LaunchBarCommander, also by mouser.
