N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Re: NANY 2010 RELEASE: FARR Plugin ProcessInfo
« on: December 16, 2009, 02:16 PM »
Nice, this will come in handy!

A couple of initial remarks: Am I supposed to press Space after 'pinfo'? I would've thought that just typing 'pinfo' would be enough... (I suppose this might be possible if I change an alias setting in FARR, though)
And +sall modifier doesn't work, so I only get a short list and need to know what I'm looking for. support for +sall or an option to display full list of processes would be very nice.

Great stuff!

Really looking forward to this one, looks incredibly useful!

Absolutely, and even if you can't always take that approach, its often good to write something you want just for the fun of it. Even if others have already done it better than you can hope to.
Ah, so that's why there are approximately 674346536 IRC clients out there...

N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Re: NANY 2010 - Mini NANY Submissions
« on: December 13, 2009, 05:41 AM »
I like the idea of Mini NANY! I've got a FARR alias pack that I've been working on that might fall into this category. Makes me feel like I participate in NANY 2010 :-[

General Software Discussion / Re: What's your preferred File Manager
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:31 PM »
I used it a lot back when it was still being developed
So did I. Turbo Navigator was my first non-Explorer file manager, and I used it until I discovered the wonders of Windows Commander (as Total Commander was known back then).

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: CZB pack
« on: November 26, 2009, 07:06 AM »
thanks, czb. Removing the GT part in the user variables section AND restarting FARR did the trick. I guess I'll have to let you know if it happens again ;)

Thanks :)

General Software Discussion / Re: Search
« on: November 26, 2009, 06:01 AM »
Locate32 and Everything both builds databases to search from, which are pretty instant. And of course there's DonationCoder.com's Find And Run Robot that searches windows very fast and has a bunch of useful options and plugins.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: CZB pack
« on: November 26, 2009, 05:45 AM »
I get the same error as skwire...

The error happens from typing the space after 'gt' and to the space after first language, i.e. 'gt en ' but after that there's no error, and GT translates as expected. This only happened recently, after I tried to translate a longer text from dutch to norwegian, by pasting directly into FARR's search field and pressing enter.

After I did that, the error occurs whenever I try to use gt.

Apart from that, I guess I don't have much useful info to provide... and no install of mentioned products  :(

Is there anything useful I can do to either find the bug or at least a workaround? GT is one of my most used FARR plugins

A great Office suite gets even better

I'll wait for the academic price, though, which hopefully lets me combine upgrade fee for both Windows and Linux version.

187
Considering I'm finally done with my education in time for the WC, I guess I can celebrate by putting in some cash ;)

188
Awww.. and I thought I'd caught one of mouser's famous errors.. ;)

Anyway, great job on the newsletter! The good thing about the letters not coming twice a month, is that there's more to read when it eventually arrives!

189
Great newsletter, mouser and Darwin

I guess I spotted some errors that you obviously put in on purpose:

There are strange things going on in the section in bold here (taken from the third paragraph):
The main thing I want to say is that we to hear from more of you about projects that you are working on

I would certainly be very picky about the software I'd buy/upgrade...

General Software Discussion / Re: Software to create crosswords?
« on: November 03, 2009, 08:31 AM »
I jumped in and got the BDJ deal. More than I had initially planned on using for this kind of software, I guess, but I'm working in education and I'm sure I'll have plenty of use for it in the future. Also, Wordweb Pro thrown in isn't too bad either ;)

I'm no tech-savvy person, and I download torrents and my router seems happy enough. It's a Linksys router with the Tomato firmware, by the way.

193
In what way is µTorrent supposed to cheat? I'm very happy with it as my torrent client, and it's a client that's recommended on certain torrent sites as well. Not that I know much about this sort of technology except µTorrent works for me :-[

[BugFix] Sometimes CHS would not paste into last active window. (...)

Notable in this release is a fix of long-time bug that caused CHS to sometimes fail to paste into the active application (...)
 Thanks, mouser.

I also think that Gvim`s color syntax customization is superior to anything out there if you put your time into it. There is not any limit to it really.
Isn't VIM's highlighting scheme based on regular expressions, rather than proper lexing?
Which, btw, is the case with EditPadPro's highlighting scheme.

Living Room / Re: What books are you reading?
« on: October 18, 2009, 12:32 PM »
Currently "Battle Royale" and a few books on childhood in relation to my studies.

I've got a huge list of books (fiction) that I want to get through, too... looking forward to next summer when my studies will be over  8)

197
Me too!! I was too new to DC back then to use it, but I'd do it now :)

I'm getting a license for HippoEdit. Already own a license for EditPadPro, but I really like some of HippoEdit's features and $15 is definitely affordable :)

Amazing application! Thanks for the recommendation, y0himba! I've always been sceptical of wallpaper changers, just didn't see any need for them, but this one blew me away. Problem now is I might not get any work done, just want to sit and watch the next change of wallpaper... I prefer the postcard mode! :-*
