Living Room / HDMI vs Football
« on: August 15, 2014, 09:40 AM »
I had planned to spend the weekend researching HDMI cables, trying to clear up questions remaining in my mind, but Google comes up with over 7 million hits. A little much for one session so I checked the TV schedule to see how I might break up the study session.

Apparently we're coming up on the "football season" and since I don't know anything about football I turned to Google again for some answers. I found this explanation which seems to sum up the game and it only takes 5 or 6 minutes to understand it.
I don't mean to interrupt your research time but if you need a break this video may answer any questions you have about football.

I'm guessing it's computed on number of words times pay per word equals value.

The value to the reader is inversely proportionate to the value to the writer  :D

(layman's terms... we don't pretend to practice, or understand? law!)

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2455471/how-to-kill-unwanted-processes-and-applications-that-slow-down-windows.html#tk.nl_pcwbest

Bobby Ekwere asked "Is there any free software that allows me to see and disable unwanted programs running in the background?"

I studied this article carefully

When I finished, I looked down in the lower right corner of the screen and knew immediately.... it's Friday!  :D

YMMV  ;D

On the Web
Monoprice: Most of the cables I use -- and most of the cables CNET uses -- come from Monoprice. They're exceptionally cheap, they ship quickly, and I've never had one fail despite a significant amount of plugging and unplugging.

For an evening of entertainment Google hdmi cables........... :D

and the venders haven't done much to solve this absurdity!
Check the prices and price ranges........... it's worth a chuckle ;D

Living Room / Re: Laptop Battery Record!

If you have run it at room temperature, and are going to try freezing...you should also try putting it in the oven...for comparable test data

That's a good idea.... an opportunity to add another column or two to the chart would undoubtedly mean more grant money,
I'm sure the size of the picture is one criteria considered, (maybe the only one?) in determining the amount of the grant money.
The question is: what are we simulating by baking a battery at 500 degrees?
I can't imagine a field condition arising that would even come close to a temperature that high. I can imagine sitting at the bus stop waiting for your ride (I've seen that!)
Did a tour in Africa where it got to 130F one day. So the gov't should buy that temp as being reasonable.  :)
BUT! 500F or even 300F is hard to rationalize.  :-\
Maybe you have an idea???
Animated gifs might help too? An Excel chart with an animated gif in any vacant slot would impress me!
(Does anybody have any idea how long you have to wait for a yea or nay on grant applications?  :D
I'm excited! :P
