N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 Pledge: Apply checked out files
« on: December 31, 2011, 11:05 AM »
Alright everyone. I'm so sorry but I'm going to have to declare failure this year. Everything was going fine this morning, but I just hit an unexpected snag in the problem space that I can't surmount today. If I work around it the application will be useless to anyone who uses dbprojects to manager their stuff, which is the majority of my target.

Please don't hate me too much! I'll try and tackle the problem in the new year!

Hey, Sorry for the Delay. -- I'm going to be running right up to the wire on this one. A significantly busier than anticipated work schedule has caused me to scale back a bit, but I have hope that things will be good to go before the deadline!!

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / [CANCELED] Apply checked out files
« on: December 06, 2011, 09:39 AM »
mousers email convinced me!

I work in TFS a lot, and I also do a lot of SQL. It's a pain in the ass redeploying a whole db when I've only changed a few procedures. It's equally a pain when several people are working on the same test db.

This simple utility will connect to a TFS Collection, a SQL Server, and execute all the .sql files you have checked out. There will be some credential storage as well as some options such as "Only apply files in this directory, only apply .proc.sql files, etc."

I hope to have a beta up by the 15th

scrod! I'll take a look at this today.

Thanks,

This is fixed. You should be able to log in with the username and password you set up. The registration was successful, the error happened after redirecting back to the home page.

Saving profile changes throws a duplicate primary key error.

Thanks Perry. This is fixed now.

I noticed that when I was fixing the above bug. It's changing in the database fine. The profile loader is having trouble setting the combo box value. I'll fix this tomorrow. :)

Perry, Added a bit of verification for dates and stuff. Didn't get much testing done. Let me know if you run into any more issues.

You need to validate the date of birth field on Profile Update (doesn't like UK|Aust date form)

Thanks Perry. I'm hoping to get a very big update out tonight. I'll try and include that.

This Entry has some interesting commonality with mouser's idea for a Purchase LockBox  :)

Nice catch. I like that idea too, it's kind of nifty. Might be something to implement later.

that would be cool! :) it's on my list, but I don't think it will happen soon. Go easy on me, I'm just starting to get my feet wet in web-programming.

Description
So I've heard about people who have been homeless, or had nothing to start with. And they've gone from having nothing to getting their lives in order in 6 or 12 months. Well, I'm bad with money, always have been, but I've realized that I don't want to be homeless. So instead of letting myself hit rock bottom, I'm trying to not be so stupid now.

So I'm making a little website that will let me track how much money I spend every day (not details at this point), on unessential items. When I eat out for lunch, or buy things that I don't need during the day etc. I'll also add goal-setting and targets in short time, as well as savings goals etc. For fun, I'll add some minor social features, like a user-ranking (logic to be determined).
