UrlSnooper / Re: Hulu links?
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:00 PM »
I realized that so after installing UrlSnooper, copy/pasted links found into my download manager but found that none were of the actual .flv video.  They were mostly only the ads which my adblocker eliminates.

So I guess the answer is that the links found with UrlSnooper on Hulu are of every multimedia file on the site except the video itself.

Thanks for responding.

UrlSnooper / Hulu links?

Can this be used to download Hulu videos?

Outstanding newsletter, Mouser.  Have never clicked on so many links or participated as often in discussion topics before.  May even warrant a second read.

Print mostly to .pdfs but still make hard copies for convenience.  Nice not to have to turn systems on just to view information.  Paper copies also still necessary for online coupons used in brick and mortar stores and to print job applications.

Come to think of it, still multiple uses for hard copies.

General Software Discussion / Re: Do you touch-type or hunt-and-peck?

Fortunately, the high school I attended way back in the early 1970's was good enough to offer a typing class.  Have never looked back since.

Interesting how some skills never become outdated.

AnyDVD, like DVD Shrink, cracks DVD encryption.  DVD Shrink goes one step further in that it also "shrinks" DVD files down (from around 8.5GB to around 4.5GB) so one can burn the resultant .iso file onto one DVD with burner software like CopyToDVD or ImgBurn.

AnyDVD files ripped are usually around 8.5GB so are too large for one DVD.

DVD Shrink has not been updated since 8/04 and fails to backup most recent titles. You can load AnyDVD and DVD Shrink will work again. Also try DVD43.

I use DVD Shrink along with CopyToDVD often.  On the very few newer DVDs that DVD Shrink can't decrypt, I use AnyDVD to decrypt DVD content, and then use DVD Shrink to "shrink" the file into a 4.5GB .iso file and then burn that .iso onto a DVD+R disk via CopyToDVD.

All three programs are well-written so coasters are rare.

PageDefrag doesn't function in Vista.  After trying it on Vista SP1 a few times and finding that it didn't work, searched web for explanation and found forums stating so.  Also apparently no developer plans for future functionality.  Works fine on XP SP3, however.

Regarding Sysinternal utilities as a whole, there is a suite and a nice manager available that I'd recommend.

Have been using OO since 1.14 and biggest drawback is still that user has to download full file even for minor version update.  Not as big an issue since broadband but FF finally got it right so why can't OO?

Also, installation of 3.0 over 2.X corrupted some components of my Vista SP1 laptop.  Luckily, had TI 11 image and restored.

And what's up with OO's funky real-time spell check function?  Still haven't figured out how it works.

Installed 2.43.01 on Vista SP1 and has worked fine so far.

Thanks for not changing tray icon and for coding optional MyJunk folder.

Found SC on FileForum and gave thumb's up rating.

Screenshot Captor / Re: new icon for Screenshot Captor?
« on: September 12, 2008, 05:45 PM »
A lot of icons appear in my system tray but no other icon looks like SC's so I'd prefer that you don't change it.  If you do, at least make it unique so it's easily discernible.

Would rather that you code elimination of the "MyJunk" folder.

USBDiskEjector.  A lot of users in forums I've participated in complain about problems with Windows' native USB drive removal app.  Either it doesn't work consistently or at all, or its icon doesn't appear in the system tray as it's supposed to.

Although it isn't necessary for powered external USB hard drives, USB Disk Ejector has always worked on my XP and Vista systems in safely removing USB thumb drives, and its free.  Only drawback is that Win98 isn't supported (per author).

It's a little gem.

i should probably make it an option

Please do.  It's nice not to have to close that little startup window any longer and it would be even nicer not to have to keep track of another folder.

You're right.

Noticed under Preferences>Move To Folder List, there's an auto-creation option but no option to delete this folder.  Can't I?  See no use for it.

Did Screen Capture create this folder on my Vista desktop in setup?  I've been trying to delete it but it keeps coming back.  Thanks.

Always look forward to this newsletter.  It's as friendly as the forum is.

So far, so good.  Installed, rebooted, SSC loaded and appeared briefly on task bar before disappearing.  Version reads 2.40.03.

It's going to be nice not having to close that little box anymore.

Interesting thing is, I also used DCupdater hoping to catch latest version to solve original issue since I was running SSC v. 2.37.03.  But DCupdater showed 2.37.01!  Now it correctly shows I'm running 2.40.03.

Anyway, thanks for the fix and I'll post further results on this thread should this same issue develop.

To date, still unresolved.  Update soon?

Hey, no problem.  Thanks.

Program in general is a lot more stable than it used to be (pretty impressive considering its use on Vista) and this is just a minor annoyance.

This still happens on my Vista box more often than it doesn't.

Has anyone found the solution or is the issue dead?

Truncated Title bar at Startup only occurs under Vista ... yes.  Will verify if it occurs with every Vista startup on my laptop.

Please see my other recent post for more details on Auto-Capture Window On Change/Update ... thanks. Will be happy to upload example of Window I would like to auto-capture on change/update, perhaps on that other thread ... don't want to hi-jack this one.

Just so we're on the same page, this happens only on Vista, not XP Home.

I'd be a tester too but this doesn't happen after every startup.

Sometimes at startup, the following Screenshot Captor title bar appears on my desktop:

I always close it but where in preferences can I prevent this from appearing?  I already have "Start Minimized" checked.

Thanks.

Way to go.

After a shutdown, still found my name and stuff in about box.

Can't imagine what would wipe out registration now.  But Vista is still in beta, after all.  ;D

Used dcupdater to install 2.36.03.  Re-entered license key and found my name and stuff in about box.

Rebooted and still found my name and stuff in about box.  Will cold boot eventually so will post results.

Regarding dcupdater, what is the temp directory path where install files of downloaded programs are saved?  I ask because after  installing programs, I move them to a backup drive.  Noticed "Download Options" tab and changed it to desktop AFTER downloading 2.36.03.

Thanks.
