the way I see it, google get 2 benefits..
1 is the googleupdater.exe that loads at startup in which they focus on unique I.P. hits as their marketing tool, and
2 is their convenience in using web browser

If you want a database friendly application, or something for business, I would to recommend Power Builder (C++).. I dunno what people thinks about PB.. but I would be glad to hear it.

The best one I've seen! Thank you so much  ;)

"To Do OR Die" is one of the best software ive seem so far..

59
Hi! Thats a very good start button  Thank You!

yes, a version where it is integrated into win explorer when in is viewed in "icons". with the same double-click operations to open application.

its like, the folder itself is also the application when the script is enabled. as we can change folder's icon, it would look great just as the Mac Apps. the easiness of applications installing and removal.

General Software Discussion / Re: What's the current 'killer app'?
« on: March 30, 2008, 07:33 AM »
hello!

my current killer app is "process explorer" by sysinternals.. they are my 1st steps in virus elimination.

outside the box.. i am wishing to extradesktops.com to be free from evaluation.. that would be very useful to me. i can call it a killer apps.  :)

" A folder when opened in "icon view" will run the application in it (can be disabled also in system tray) "

the idea is just like in Mac Apps. just run the icon'ed folder to run. it is to simply a portable application's location folder/apps. ofcourse, the folder should only contain 1 application. this is not taken from the other post here(create shortcut to exe inside the folder), actually its old but i wanted my other post(self-contained archive/profile desktop) to be implemented 1st so i shouldn't be that burden. i'll just post this here ok. please help, if its ok for someone to make a .ahk script to work like that. thank you so much.

btw as of experience:
* please NO "hot headed" and "limited brain" answers *  it means that if you're saying negative, make it in technical details. not to judge it w/o knowing the actual effect (prejudice) ;)  this is just a request anyways, if you can't (in which i never yet get any 1 of my posts resolved) then dont. It's ok btw, atlease we all know. as the idea is all compiled here. "programmers" are all over the world, but "ideas" are not..  :)  why not help each other

Ubisoft didn't yet released the official Assassin's Creed for PC. what I mean is the "hijacked" version of assassin's creed for PC(aka assassin's creed RELOADED PC in google).

about the "Bootable game OS". what i mean here is if somebody to provide a 3D game engine for it. not some games exist in windows nor linux. the idea i wanna put is not limited for gaming OS only.. much more, on functionality of interaction and simplification with custom application restricted only on what you desired to only operate.  I know that you can disable explorer.exe in windows startup and only load the specific application you want(e.g: ERP system) - that is to simplify it. but having it a custom application, if the IDE is available to play with, why not?!. i mean, it is more on "hobby" to spend some time and not making money/business out of it. it is not about competing to other game console but to open the possibilities for it in PC.

Very impressive. I'm hoping to see more of this procedural stuff in commercial games so we don't keep having to get bigger harddrives ;)

yeah, the requirements are getting insane by the game, not only for hard-drive space but memory too.. has anyone seen the minimum requirement for the PC version of Assassin's Creed? it's listed as requiring 3GB of RAM! :o

I had installed the warez version of it(asassin's creed that crashes in jerusalem) with a 2gb RAM and HD2600 XT 512mb DDR3 and it has no lag. DX9 and DX10 version has no graphical difference accept that it has a faster loading time in DX10

Its a good game. but whenever someone in the world make a bootable PC OS Game Console, that would probably insane  :)

"just wanna bring up a good topic.."
+ with the direct link.
is there something I should know? I feel like I am restricted to post good comments.. I have nothing to prove dude.
96kb is right. the uncompressed version + the text file concluded the 104kb when you check it's folder's size.

I have seen a locking program like that, the program installer came from the USB Drive's package. but it can be bypass.. so its no use. somehow, you need a program that autoruns to halt or temporary disable the window's functions to access that usb drive and enables when prompted with password.. the encryption part, i dont think its good. and the program will act like a virus coz it changes some explorer security. maybe fodder is right. but is possible

a registry program here.. a portable apps which is useful when hunting some virus and any such (the real site's links is dead)

how it will help? the file attached, when activated, is used to delete the autorun.inf when it is detected, it also watches the wscript issues(its not mine btw). it doesn't delete the main virus or the script but it will prevent the execution of the USB virus. it is attention to common USB virus solution, not an all-around file antivirus.

intentionally, i want to provide an idea. it is better if we look forward to "solutions" rather on something else. if it is not clear yet, i just want to ask a question: is it worth doing this or not? so we can close this topic and proceed to better ones out there  :(

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Scrollable Desktop Like a Folder
« on: January 16, 2008, 03:32 AM »
I found out about Ave's Extra Desktops before, but for some reason, it does not work on my PC. I can't even see the 'configure desktops...' options upon right clicking the desktop.

you have to install the "visual C++ 2005" first then "restart" before installing "Ave's Extra Desktop" (uninstall Extra desktop first if you haven't install Visual C++ 2005 dependencies yet or it will not work in that sequence.)

right clicking the desktop will show "configure extra desktop" and it can only handle 2 commands for now (e.g: Ctr+1), still bad and lots of bugs, but its the lightest application solution as of now.

72
I understand that (autorun.ini / autorun.inf) when you inserted a USB, it will ask for confirmation.. just cancel it so theres no problem.. but, "this is not for me"... this apps is for those "non-computer literate" specially for grand parents whose still in touch via I.M. communication. I can disable it in my computer.. but how about those non-computer literate people located in other country.

I can simply use this program(attached) to avoid it & preventing the spread of viruses..

but its ok if it is hard to implement.. if theres no solution for this, I'll just follow your post to just disable autorun via autoit..

E.g., on my MX Revolution wireless mouse you cannot use the middle button in Firefox to open a new tab.

select "autoscroll" as your middle mouse button. for firefox to open in new tab, you have to double-click the middle mouse button.

I understand that point.. (disabling the autoplay)

there's a program called "new folder.exe" or similar, it looks like a folder but actually an exe.
an explorer app for usb removable would looks good..

the purpose is for those non-techie people(to just email this apps) to avoid usb viruses/worms which is the source of spreading

but in such away, if this is hard to implement, lets just come up with simple or practical solution
