Word of advice - don't install the new version. Its incredibly buggy. You are much better off using the previous version they put out.

I agree. Why shouldn't we post comments here if we want to? Are GemX going to try to close this forum down as well? Are we not allowed to criticise a piece of software if we want to and post our opinions? This was a totally ridiculous comment to make doublewitt... The only reason people are expressing their opinions here is because there is no other place to do this.

Was just wondering how people have coped with the DO problems. For me I am still using its diary and notes functions but am gradually moving away from it. Have a look at Yagoon Time calendar - it is visually very good and works very well - much better then DO calendar. Have also started to use Microsoft Money for financial transactions (attempted to use the DO finance section but that was pointless). And never used DO for email.

I think you may have a point Beth although I wouldnt go as far as calling it a "rejection". But I agree that its more the fact that you spent a lot of time transferring your personal information into the product and replacing other software with it - and you spent a lot of time getting used to the product. So it becomes a part of your daily life because so much of your personal information has been transferred. And you wouldn't have done that if you didn't feel you could rely on the stability and long-livity of the product and integrity of the developers. Then things happen and you find otherwise. Of course you are going to be pissed off... I think if any of the developers of any of the more well known PIMs just dissapeared without an explanation for months their users would be just as angry. Dont think is a do-Organizer specific situation.

They brought this upon themselves. Noone is denoying that the product is good and unique (at the moment) despite the bugs. But if you treat your customers with disrespect then you cant complain about negative posts and act like the victim. By using their product people are depending on them and that carries a responsibility. People have placed their trust in your product. Noone wanted to post negative posts - people were pissed off. To the extent they they went to the trouble, aggrevation and time to get a refund back. And to actively search the internet and find this forum and try to find out what's going on. People have better things to do than waste time on things like that.

In the 2-3 months they dissapeared, they must have received 200-300 messages from their clients. Not taking into account all the posts on this forum. And they didnt reply to a single one. It would have taken 30 seconds of their time to post a reply and give an explanation. This is unbelievably disrepectful and unprofessional. And this includes people who have dedicated time to beta testing their program and you Tiptop who spent so much time maintaining the forum. Which by the way I find the most bizzare - that you guys were as much in the dark as the rest of us. I think maybe you are too understanding Tiptop considering the way they treated you and the only reason you are siding with them is because you find the product so usefull. I think your previous posts here were more truthfull. Have you become their spokesman? Are they unable to explain what happened themselves (and need to hide behind pre-prepared statements on their website). Do you let people in real life treat you like that?

They need to be honest and respectful to their customers and not shroud the product in secrecy. I am using their product at the moment but am actively looking for an alternative. Sadly I doubt that much will change with the company. What leads me to believe that is that they didn't even have the decency, common courtesy and respect to post a reply to this forum (and give an honest explanation of what happened). How sad is that?

Me2. Would welcome an alternative do Do-Organizer. As mentioned before I tried your 7.3 version yesterday - and it does have the same look and feel. If its aim is to become a fully fledged PIM, perhaps changing the name to something more PIM-friendly would make sense.

Its all a joke and I don't consider them as a serious company any more. To leave customers in the dark for 2 months and dissapear. To  not even give any info on what is going on to their Beta Testers or Tiptop who managed the forum. HELLOOO - THEY JUST DISSAPEARED.

To take the forum down because they can't spare 5-10 minutes a day answering queries (everyone who has used the forum knows there weren't more than 3-4 posts per day - MAX). A joke. I couldn't care less about the forum - its the fact that even with the forum they ignored their customers and kept them in the dark. Its going to get even worse now and the evasiveness, ignoring and secretiveness will become much easier for them to pursue. I can see there are people here that are willing to forgive them and forget - I'm not one of them. They showed total disrespect for their customers - and have obviously done this before - take a look at the history of releases - the huge gaps between new updates. THESE GUYS HAVE A HABIT OF DISSAPEARING.

And on top of that keeping that message about changing servers on their website as the reason the forum was down. What's that about? They have obviously admitted now that this was a lie and that the reason was "lack of resources". So why not post that instead of keeping the message about changing servers for two months. Why lie to us??? Where do these guys live - Mars?

A TOTAL JOKE for a serious company to do this. And shows no character.

Actually think the Helpmaker tool has potential to do what Do-organizer does because it looks very similar. If they already completed the calendar and planner tools for version 8, the rest hopefully shouldn't take too long. It would be good for there to be another similar product on the market. Makes you realise that Do-organizer is not that unique after all...

From that email they they sent its clear to me that GemX don't understand what the problem is. They think the problem is that we are upset because they are taking the forum down. The problem is not that there is no forum.

THE PROBLEM IS IN THEIR ATTITUDE AND DISRESPECTFULL WAY IN WHICH THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS (IGNORING THEM, LYING TO THEM, KEEPING THEM IN THE DARK...)

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND THIS????????

Read my post from the other day. I was sure they would be back and I wasn't wrong.

Its not surprising - they can't take the criticism so have decided to hide and take the forum down. Its pretty pathetic if you ask me. That message is dishonest and doesn't show any character or real respect of their customers. Or as tiptop says - it shows no class. And that bit about there not being enough people to reply to the messages.. What's that about? Sometimes days would go buy without them even posting one reply. How long does it take to post a reply - 20 seconds? I guess they are too busy to spend a couple of minutes a day posting replies. They must be working day and night on the software...

But I guess we should be happy that development will continue because their software is good. Its a shame that they themselves can't live up to the quality of their software. Be men guys - don't hide behind emails and your non-existant "support system"... You have nothing to hide from. Criticism can be taken in a constructive way if you choose. After all, you want your product to be the best it can be - and so do we. We are on the same page. Be men not little boys... In the end you will lose out because people will be posting negative reviews on software download sites.

And yes, they are definitely reading this forum. Its a shame they don't have the guts to reply.

Agree. And if you want to close down the forum. That's fine - that's their right. But out of common courtesy say - the forum is closed - we are changing our approach and just want feedback from our registered beta software subscribers. If there is something going on with the company - fine - post a message to let people know.

They have treated their customers with no respect in the past and still continue to do so - this will never change. So if you want to use their software prepare yourself for this. And how fair were they to you tiptop - you were the moderator of their forum and they are ignoring you as well after all the work you put in. How rude is that???...

I know - it was evident to me as well that that they were taking everything personally. That is why occasionally I pasted "glowing comments" on their forum. I know that all people enjoy praise - its only human. But you don't exclusively rely on other people for it. Have some healthy self-belief instead.

Lets face it - if you want to run a professional business and charge money for a product - you behave in a professional way because you have taken on a responsibility towards the customers (otherwise you get into a situation where people migrate to another forum to post their frustrations about you and ask for their money back...). Isn't it strange - that do-organizer which is better than other PIMs gets so few downloads compared to them. They are incompetent at everything except programming.

If you are after praise and affirmation - post the software as freeware.

If you are trying to run a profesional company and make money, then grow-up!

You'll see - they will be back and nothing will really change and the dissapearing act will keep on happening. They will keep coming up with new modules without fixing the old ones.

This is why they are keeping their website running and still selling the product. You are not dealing with a real company here but with immature people.

Don't really agree with the comment above that the problem was that people were too negative on the GemX forum. Its not our job to massage their ego's. But I do agree that they took the criticism personally. When they set up the forum, I think they were expecting for it to be a constant source of affirmation, but it wasn't - people were posting the problems they were having when using the software and they took the criticism personally.

They are selling a product and charging money for it. They are supposed to be mature adults running a profesional company that has responsiblities towards their customers, not children looking for praise.

My opinion is that the GemX team or whoever is behind the software is good at programming but has a lot of issues to deal with in the real world. Their behaviour on the forums was always strange - in a sense we were baby-sitting them, making sure they don't get insulted.

Its common courtesy to let people know whats going on - especially people that have paid money to buy a product. If you keep people in limbo, and they have done this so many times, you are basically manipulating them to get attention. How many times have they dissapeared from the forum for days.

My personal opinion is that they will resurface after a few weeks/months (once the attention from their dissapearance starts to lessen and people start to move on) with some more updates, etc.. and an explanation why they dissapeared. They have obviously done this in the past. Its just pure emotional immaturity... They are getting attention now with everyone wondering what's going on. But that's not going to last forever and when it starts to run out - they will resurface as if its normal that they dissapeared leaving everyone to wonder what's going on. You are not dealing with adults here in an emotional sense. Also explains why they never finished what they started and had no real interest in fixing old bugs and instead kept adding new modules noone really asked for. Its not a real company - its a person(s) with a fragile ego that has one talent - programming and an overwhelming need for attention and reassurance.

As the software now seems to be abandonware - maybe someone should post the latest 3.097 version somewhere...
