First - thank you scancode for your speedy reply and fix. I had no way of getting you fix easily to the other computer since most things weren't working. I did eventually try using a memory stick.

That was the weirdest thing that I have ever experienced in many years on a computer. lol

Since every exe file was opening in notepad, even when I opened in safe mode, most things would not work. For example, system restore would try the notepad route which of course was useless.

I finally had the idea to open in safe mode and create a new user. This I did and then using this new login, I was able to do a restore. So things are now back to normal I think.

I am still shaking my head.... lol.... never heard of that happening before.

Thanks again Scancode and for everyone who was thinking of a solution.

Robert

Hello,

Didn't know where to turn for help so here I am!  :tellme: :'(

I was using a new unzip program and wanted to view a ini file in notepad. Somehow, the program also included the .exe file which was in the same zip folder. Now all .exe files are trying to open in notepad.

Can't get to anything.

I am running Vista on my other machine and am only starting to learn it.

Needless to say, I can't just go and change the file extension as I would normally expect to do.

What a pain.... any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Robert

I won the Web Studio from MetaProducts and want to thank everyone at DonationCoder. Looks like it is a great program and something I'll be using regularly.

Always nice to win. Now I'll go an buy a lottery ticket.

Thanks
