GS-Calc is a full featured spreadsheet that can be used for editing huge files and to build complex data models with millions of formulas and GBs of data.
Worksheets and pivot tables can use 12 million rows. No limitations for using cell references to external closed workbooks.
No limitations for the number of hyperlinks. Users can add their own DLL libraries with new functions or functions replacing the default ones, with the same performance, dynamic array ("spilling") functionality and multi-core calculations. Extensive use of regular expressions in the built-in functions (Filter(), Find(), lookups) and Find&Replace functions. Automatic use of binary searching in lookup functions with any number of ranges sorted in the background.

Opening an over 4GB workbook with over 500 million cells with random floating-point numbers and text strings (8 worksheets, ~12 million rows each) should take around 30s on a low-end office pc with 16GB RAM.
Filtering (regex/operators/formulas/duplicates) a few million rows should take a few seconds (and the result can include millions of rows as well).
GS-Calc can be installed on any portable storage device and used without performing any registry modifications.

GS-Base - a database with spreadsheet functions and up to 256 million rows.
Pivot tables (with the same max number of rows), around 300 functions in calculated fields. Filtering (regex), searching for duplicates, for unique values, search-as-you-type, full-text searches, fuzzy searches and so on. GS-Base uses up to 100 processor cores to perform field and pivot table calculations.
Opening an over 0.5GB csv text file with 20 columns and around 3.5 million rows can take several seconds on a low end pc. Loading about 12GB MySql *.sql file with over 10 million records and Long Text (Memo) fields can take around 2 minutes. Filling a field in a 150 million record set with some 1...n sequence will take a few seconds. Same as filtering a field using regular expressions. 150 million records with four text field containing up to several characters each with calculated fields and formulas can use around 15GB of RAM.

Hi,

For what it's worth, my two cents to this discussion:

1. The website and every other docs clearly state that you can log on to the download page to download the latest versions for 12 months for free. And it's clear that the page always displays the latest versions only.
(I do what I can to educate users that the license doesn't "expire".)

2. Almost all old versions are still on the website. For the full versions, it's sufficient to e-mail the support, which (un)surprisingly some users do.
Trial versions dating back I guess 10 years are free downloads all the time.

3. It's ca 2MB. Not 2TB...

4. Hope that the respective modifications to the download page will be implemented rather sooner than later. It was requested by other users and it's surely is going to be helpful.

5. IMHO captcha is easy(?). An easier registration method means verifying (addresses, IPs) 10-20 spambot submissions a day. (Unless this can be done automatically for the phpBB forum.)

Thanks,
Citadel5

Thanks for the discount, took advantage of the offer. I actually had a use for an earlier version a couple years ago, the row limit in Excel was too small for what I needed even though the calculations were fairly simple.

Excel 2013 still has a column advantage (16k over 4k, which is also Libre Office's limit) but Excel and Libre Office are both stuck at 1 million rows.

Thanks.
Rebuilding would be sufficient to increase that limit to 16K (or to 64K max, without changing the code) in GS-Calc, but verifying that there are no performance issues for various functions/actions might take much more time.

Anyway, further increasing these (row and column) limits for both GS-Calc and GS-Base is on the todo list.

(If you would like to, please feel free to e-mail me something more about the type/size of data you're
using. Just curious.)

Best regards
