I've been trying to change the code, could anyone help me do 2 things:

1. Invoke ALT + TAB when at the right edge of the screen
2. Have the program work not on the whole edge, but on a certain part (eg. the middle)

Thanks

Finished Programs / DONE: ALT-TAB edge of the screen (new)
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:05 PM »
Hi,

I was working on an assignment over the weekend and found myself constantly pressing ALT-TAB to switch between two windows, I was wondering if anyone knew of a program or could script a small program to invoke ALT-TAB whn i move my mouse to the edge of the screen - like hot corners except instead of corners - edges of the screen.

Thanks !!!

« on: October 12, 2007, 07:38 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that I could annotate photos, like on flickr with comments - and search the comments to find the images? It would be a great way to sort and find images.

Thanks   :)

Thanks PhilB66 (Phil?) looks pretty good

-EDIT
I tried it out, but there is no way of exporting the typed quotes,
since it's based on Access, I think I'll try to make a similar frontend

Thanks Darwin, I see what you mean - the site was awfully slow...  :(

But your posted screenshot looked good, so I decided to download it anyway (took about 3hrs)

I considered Evernote -> but the program is organised as one long 'note' - only way is to filter it with searches, which I didn't like much  :(

Any other ideas?

Hi,

I am kinda of a collector of quotes -> and was wondering if anyone had any ideas that would help my organise them. I know this kinds of branches into notetaking programs and such but I would like to know which software is good for this purpose.

Preferable I would like to add tags to quotes and preferably search by tag, author, subject, and content

Any ideas?  :)

I leave with a quote:

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew of a hot spot program, so if i move my mouse to a corner of the screen, a specified shortcut or program would be launched - such as 'Show Desktop' or Launch My Documents.

Would be a handy program to have  :) - if anyone could code it, that would be great !!!

Hi,

I want to install foobar (media player) but I would like to keep the icons for all the media types which are configured at the moment by WMP 11. I was wondering if there existed a program that would save all the registry associations of the icons and create a backup, so after installing a program that changes icons, you don't have to manually go through all the media types and change the icons - you could easily restore the registry association of the icons from the backup.

Or maybe an idea for a coding snack...I think it would come in handy - after customizing all the icons, taking a snapshot for backup :)

Thanks for the reply,

Regmon (Now Process Monitor) has thousands of entries for few seconds, but if you notice they are not instances of writing a key to the registry, but of reading, closing the key.

A notifier for writing to the registry would be helpful - but i know it would be extremly difficult to code

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Firewall for registry
« on: August 20, 2007, 03:38 AM »
Hi,

I was looking around in google for a program that monitors programs that access and change registry values. Like a firewall, it would have exception rules for processes that constantly write to the registry - like explorer.exe and services.exe / svchost.exe ect.
It would come in handly for malware detection. It could also provide tracking for actual values written to the registry.

Smilary there could be a process firewall - where processes must first be authenticated to run... :)

Could any one share any coding possibilies for these ideas? Or do these programs already exist?

Thanks

Hi,
I tried searching Google for some info on how to customize the mouse over InfoTip in Windows XP. The main reason is so that I can view file metadata -> such as summary information. This used to appear in the details section in Windows 2000. But I can't see it anywhere in XP.
The setting for the info tip must be in the registry somewhere, WinZip Modifies it for Zip files - could one of the excellent programmers make some simple GUI that can customize info tip for different file extensions  ;D?

P.S Is there any way to edit the details pane in Common files tasks? To show summary information for example

Many Thanks
Philip

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: find folders/files typing in explorer
« on: September 18, 2006, 05:04 PM »
Hi,

My idea isn't too difficult, and I think it would help everyone out.

Basically, in Windows explorer, by typing the first letter of a file/folder - Windows sets focus to the first file/folder that begins with that letter (alphabetically). It would be really helpful if I could type first few letters to jump to the file/folder that begins with it.

For example, I have three folders named Moon, Monkey and Metacognition in the midst of hundreds of files and folders  :) by typing 'mo' in quick sucession Explorer sets focus to the folder begining with 'mo'... namely Moon. There could be a hotkey to toggle between files and folders - it could come in handy when files are sorted by date and you know exactly what it's called. The interface could be hidden, activated only by typing while focus in an explorer window or there could be a box that could appear at a hotkey or triple click ect.

Many Thanks
Philip

Thanks for the quick response, (BTW mouser your're a great programmer)

I found a similar sort of program called PerigeeCopy http://www.xmission.com/~jstanley/pscopy.html it is released with source code... maybe someone could modify it to make it check the file comparision, and move suspect files.

« on: July 28, 2006, 08:17 PM »
Hi,  :D

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program (or could write one) to help me with copying/pasting and moving files:

I get really frustrated when I copy alot of file across the network (GB+) and when I return it asks me 'read only' would you like to move the file? ect, and would you like to replace the existinf folder/file with the same name.

The program's purpose would be to:
  • Overwrite file with the same name, if that file is more recent than the one it is going to replace or if not newer - compare CRC/MD5 hash to determine if file is the same if not then prompt user
  • Overwriting a folder then check if files would be overwritten with same method above
  • Whilst moving read-only file/folders remove the read-only attribute
  • Maybe instead of prompting the file(s) could be move to a new folder in the destination called 'Suspect'

Many thanks!

Hi, :)

I download alot of files (usually executables) and I was wondering if anyone could could program a script / compile a exe to do this...

Basically I would like a utility that would search for a program name on the webpage I am downloading from and rename the downloaded file to that name. For example if If I was downloading a program called 'MP3 Ripper' and the download link is 'mp3rip32' the program will search the webpage for a title and rename the downloaded program to MP3 Ripper.

I know it wouldn't work for all pages, any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks
