Hello,

I have something similar that I wrote.

http://www.easyhr.com.au/software/easy_file_in_use.htm
Checks whether a file is in use.

http://www.easyhr.com.au/software/easy_is-it-there.htm
Checks to see if a directory exists and if it does, runs an EXE with parameters

Both work independantly.

I have written a similar timer some while back.
http://www.easyhr.com.au/software/easy_countdown_timer_pro.htm
Settings, TimerGroups is what we are sort of taling about.
Its not exactly the same, but sort of similar.

Also http://www.easyhr.com.au/software/easy_rest_break.htm
This has a smart timer built into it.
Basically if there is no mouse or keyboard entry for x minutes, the software assumes the person is not there and resets the break timer when hey return.
This also follows the WORK+BREAK Algorythm

You could try the windows command:

Windows.beep(600,50);
lower the first number the lower the beep tone
lower the 2nd number the lower the length of the tone

This would take less time to excute than opeining some a player to play a wav file.

Cheers

I have been using ACTUAL WINDOWS MANAGER from actual tools.
Does exactly what you are asking for and reasonably priced.
