Circle Dock / Custom Shortcut Icons Not Used in CircleDock
« on: March 08, 2010, 11:07 AM »
I have been using CircleDock since LifeHacker first mentioned it a couple of years ago and I really like it. I saw the new version and decided to install it, first removing the previous version. I decided I would start from scratch, just adding only the shortcuts I needed.
With the previous versions of CD, I was able to drag and drop my customized shortcuts onto CD and it accepted them, including the icons I had set up for that shortcut. Now I find that the last few version of CD will not accept my customize icons and the only alternatives I have are PNG files from it's Icons\System folder.
This does not help. For instance, I have a number of Internet Explorer links with different icons, so I can easily distinguish them. When I copy them to CircleDock, all the links just use the default internet Explorer icons - they all look the same.
How can I work around this? How can I get Circle Dock to use icons in ICO or DLL or icon found in \system32\shell32.dll files? By the way, I'm using CD with XP SP3.
Thanks,
Phil
