Yep... so far looks good for me as well.

For me, I mean when I first try to perform a capture using the hot key I have triggering "Grab selected region".  The program, itself, had remained running in the system tray.  The cross-hairs appear, but as soon as I start to select the region, I get the error.

I am still getting the error "Access violation at address 004B418C in module ‘ScreenshotCaptor.exe’. Read of address 00000004." with v3.05.01 of Screenshot Captor.

It seems to occur under the following senario:

1) Start Screenshot Captor while using dual monitors.
2) Put my laptop to sleep by removing from docking station
3) Awake my laptop using only the laptop screen
4) Put it back to sleep
5) Start my laptop again the next morning in its docking station using dual monitors.

At that point, when I first use Screenshot Captor, I get the error.  It seems to clear itself after that.

No problem.  You don't owe me anything.  Thanks for the great software.

Probably should have mentioned in my original post that I switch from a dual monitor environment at work, to using just the laptop screen at home.  Which would be right inline with your comment of "something to do with monitor info changing in sleep mode".

Screenshot Captor / Access violation error every morning

I leave screenshot capture running all the time on my computer.  It seems that every morning (after some combination of the computer going in and out of sleep mode, and logging on and off of our VPN), I get an Access violation error the first time I try using Screenshot Capture.

"Access violation at address 004B32A0 in module 'ScreenshotCapture.exe'.  Read of address 00000004."

I have a Google Apps account that I use for all my email and calendaring.  However, certain Google functionality (such as Google Voice) is only available for the normal Google accounts, so I am forced to keep a free, gmail account active.  I am trying to avoid having to maintain a list of Contacts between the two, and so am wonder if anybody is aware of software that will keep my Google Apps accounts in sync with my Gmail account?

One way I know of would be to use something like gsyncit to use Outlook as an intermediary... however I am looking for a one step solution.  If one exists.

I just tried the "^" character, and the "~" character.  Both are resulting in the same truncation.

In addition to the TAB completion, I also see this when using the FCalc plugin:

I can type ~fc 3+3, and it will show me the answers.  Normally I can just press enter, and it will blank out the 3+3 and let me do another claculation.  Now, however, when I press enter, it reverts to just fc, which, without the prefix, doesn't trigger the plugin.

I have recently configured FARR to required an "Optional prefix which needs to come first on search line in order to match against aliases and plugs" (Options -> Settings -> Keyboard Interface).  I chose to use the forward slash (/).

I want to use the paste alias to paste a date.  I type in "/pas".  At this point paste (paste date, ...) is the only option.  I press the Tab key to complete the word so I can see the alias options.  It does complete the word "paste", but it truncates off the leading '/'.  So FARR no longer looks for the alias, but looking for file matching.

Thanks!  Worked like a charm.

I have been using Tiddly Wiki (alias tiwi) for about three months now.  After the most recent upgrade to FARR, when I try to launch Tiddly Wiki, I get the following error:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
  • You are not connected to the Internet.
  • The website is encountering problems.
  • There might be a typing error in the address

Anybody seen this before?  Or experiencing the same thing?

Thanks.

Should free be a requirement, there's always Vim. Yes, it most certainly is an acquired taste but for just viewing files it should do just fine.

I have always liked VIM, but unless I have things configured wrong, it doesn't really do a very good job of opening large files.  If I open just a 500mb file, it takes about 500mb of memory, and about 2 minutes to open.

General Software Discussion / Large Text File Viewer
« on: July 30, 2008, 10:51 PM »
Anybody know of a good large text file (multi gigabyte) viewer?

I have used UltraEdit.  It is good, but doesn't work well as both a text editor and a large file viewer.  To move around the large file efficiently, you need to turn off line numbers and temp file... you also need to open as "read-only" to make sure you don't accidentally change the file.  And it still doesn't jump from the first line to that last as quick as I would like.

I also used LTFViewer (www.swiftgear.com) which is pretty good... but seems like that last time the author touched the program was 3 years ago.  Would be nice if it also had 'tail -f' type functionality.
