PublicDomainVic / Paradisus Software
« on: March 09, 2024, 10:54 PM »
Thread reserved for my transition into "paradisusvic", with the accompanying new "Paradisus Software" project

In short, the motto is "Software with a Purpose", so the programming focus becomes entirely on creating for community requests, assistive technologies (for people with disabilities and the elderly) and -in general- a human positive purpose.

This means all sort of helpful development that directly improves the human condition for at least one (1) soul.

(More to come :-*)

PublicDomainVic / AddressBooker - Webpage to Address Book
« on: February 23, 2024, 09:48 PM »
This is based on fellow member @sphere's request:

After some brainstorming & discussion, the planned feature set for the program is:

AdressBooker v1 roadmap:

  • Extract contact information, contact photo (see original forum post)  from web page (by monitoring the clipboard) and bulk process saved pages from a folder directory ( https://github.com/gildas-lormeau/SingleFile/wiki )
  • Pull information from  ‘+” link on (ie instagram)
  • User will be presented with a dialog when an URL that contains a website from the template/definitions list is copied.
  • Dialogue box will have:
  • Option to select and/or add group/category,  tags and short note from dialogue box/
  • Option to include webpage title and source url when collecting information.
  • User definable hotkey to pause clipboard monitoring in case user wants to clip address without triggering app.

Additional settings:
  • Ability to edit and create new page templates.

Information will be collected into an Addressbook that will be developed later to group/sort contacts add some notes etc.

This thread is for bringing into reality luvnbeast's brainchild as expressed in this post:

https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=53887.msg453190#msg453190

The program requirements can be extracted as:

an alarm feature instead of a shutdown option instead? By having the computer play m3u's or even a folder of music as an option.

It would turn it into an alarm clock as well and be even more valuable as a minimalistic app especially if you kept the same options to delay the alarm

remake the shut down 8 app into the tiniest timer/alarm/timed shutdown program!

Upon activation of the program, a menu opens with the options to shutdown, restart, hibernate, or timer to shutdown...

in a cascading menu you have 10 minute shutdown, 30 minute shutdown, 1 hour shutdown or a 2 hour shutdown.

Then upon selecting the timed shutdown, a popup window with a counter tells you how long until shutdown... which is changeable with +- buttons next to the timer.

So either TIMP could be bundled and put in the same folder as this alarm program or the alarm program could be separated with TIMP inside of it (most of the core programming). Thus being a small wake up timer.

The GitHub repo is opened for "ShutdownB":

https://github.com/publicdomain/shutdownb

--a very direct wink to the "8" :), as well as intending being another take, or version... a B-side with its own plus

Feel free to brainstorm here as the program becomes ALIVE,

Vic

N.A.N.Y. 2024 / TIMP - Tray Icon Music Player [N.A.N.Y. 2024]

TIMP - Tray Icon Music Player

Quick N.A.N.Y. 2024 program inspired by the requests of fellow member @luvnbeast in the "Play MP3s Randomly?" thread:

> "MP3 players that can randomly play MP3's in a folder"

> "without a GUI really, I mean maybe though a floating desktop icon and a right click to select the file in the folder if desired, but for it to be playing random files"

> "One idea could be while it's playing to mouse over this mini floating bar and or icon and press arrow keys to control the player like pressing the right arrow would play the next song on the randomized list while the left would repeat the song, up might be to increase volume and down would be to decrease it. This way hotkey usage might be minimized as well as easy to remember."

Pushing updates as they are developed

This release also serves to secure a spot in the N.A.N.Y. event!
