Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Random Name Selection
« on: August 19, 2006, 02:43 PM »
Hi All,

Not sure if this has been asked and answered or not, so I'll drop it out there.
I have a list of names that I need to pull randomly from.

EZ so far,BUT...

From the list, I need to select the names, based on a number provided, so for instance from the full list I need 11 randomly picked names,  then I need those names to not be part of the original list for selection again, so it basically shortens the list to those remaining.

Then would allow the names that were selected (say from a textfile) tobe saved to a file, maybe a textfile or a CSV file, something it could be pulled into another program if wanted.

Then, allow for the same number of selections again,  from the remaining names, or allow for a new number to  be input to select from the list remaining.

I hope that all makes sense?

Thanks in advance...

Randy

Post New Requests Here / IDEA?: PDF to DOC/HTML/RTF/TXT

Good  Morning  Everyone!  :D

I've been searching for a FREEWARE utility to help me convert many of my PDF files  I have to any of the extensions mentioned. I can only find one that is resonible  in it's pricing of $9.99. Don't get me wrong, that's a good price, but there is only 1 that was found.

The rest are averaging in the area of $30 or higher, but NO FREEWARE competition at all. I know that if at least one PDF converter existed, and did what was needed, it would be a utility that would get a lot of use.

For myself, I have several PDF's, that I created, and have since lost, deleted, etc, thte original document from which thtey were created, and now I have only the PDF remaining. Impossible to update without the orginal document. Instead, your left with having to create a whole new PDF everytime, unless you're loaded witth money and can afford what  is  out there. The util I found  for cheap, well,  I had to  dig for a while to locate it.

The average internet user will not have the knowledge to dig as deeply, thus they are presented with many other choices that will cost a pretty penny.

If I've overlooked aa util thtat does exist that is FREEWARE, please by all means to let me know?

Thanks,

Randy

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Freeware Windows Installer?
« on: October 03, 2005, 10:45 AM »
This might have been asked and answered already, I apologise if so.

I am looking for one that is fairly EZ to use, and not complicated, sort of a D&D (drag & drop) if it exists. To deploy VB6 companion software. I didn't find anything in the reviews, so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks for the insight.

Finished Programs / DONE: BlowUp or Read?
« on: September 27, 2005, 08:35 AM »
This idea will benefit many that have been effected by retinal degeneration (my mother being one of the victims here).
The idea I have had for this application may not be a one-day item, but well worth it to many, if it can be done.

For those affected by this disease, it has taken there vision, and as of now there is no cure. I have attached an image of what it might appear like to someone affected. The blurred area, is actually the faces/heads of the victim's Grandchildren. As you can see the sides seem to be somewhat visible, however, if it is computer text, it is impossible to read.

What would be nice is an app that would allow the user, not to hi-lite the text, but to simply place the mouse on the line, then prompt to read aloud or to make bigger and easier to view. If it were to require a sighted person to set it up then that is fine as well, the more options the better, then it would be a matter of a sighted person sitting with them, and configuring it for the user to their needs, be it color or black and white, to let them have a degree of independence still.

I know it's a tall order there, and I attempted to break it down the best I could, if more information is needed please ask.

Thanks for trying...
