Here's something I found myself needing many times over the years. (Working on Windows 7 here.)

Sometimes I'll be working on my computer and having many windows open. So I use Alt-Tab to navigate between them. But the annoying thing is that sometimes Windows has windows that don't show up on alt-tab, like small dialogs. For example, try opening a folder in windows, selecting a file and pressing the Del button. Windows shows a dialog to delete the file. Now, say you've already switched to a different window and you have a mess of windows covering that delete dialog. Now say you want to navigate back to it. You try using alt-tab, but that delete dialog doesn't appear in the alt-tab window list!

My idea: A program that listens for win-alt-tab and shows an alt-tab window that scrolls through all those windows that aren't on the original alt-tab list. That way I could get to them without having to use the mouse and search for them visually.

If anyone feels like taking up this challenge, please let me know!

Hi,

I love using my computer with a light-on-dark theme. This is much more pleasant to my eyes than the all-too-common dark-on-light theme found on most programs and websites.

However, some programs don't allow you to define a light-on-dark theme. My main culprit is Chrome, who, while it does allow you to define a dark theme and even make websites dark, does show an annoying white screen for ~5 seconds when a site is loaded, which really hurts my eyes.

I want a program that does the following thing: Whenever I'm using any program, I can invoke a keyboard shortcut to activate it. Then, it'll constantly sample the pixels in the window of the active program. If these pixles go over a certain threshold of average brightness, it puts an inverse filter between the program and the screen, so dark colors appear bright and bright colors appear dark.

When the program starts sending mostly dark pixels again, the filter is removed.

Is it possible to make such a program? The part I'm most worried about is the inverse filter, I don't know whether that's possible.

General Software Discussion / Request: Making Windows XP use a global input language instead of per-applicatio

I work with 2, sometimes 3 different languages on my XP boxes.

Windows XP chooses input language on a per-application basis. That is, when I switch to a different application, Windows sometimes changes the input language because it remembers that I used that language last time I used that app.

I don't like that. I want Windows to maintain one global input language, and change it only when I hit Alt-Shift.

Is it possible to hack Windows to behave like that? Maybe with AutoHotKey?
