Hello DonationCoders,
I have already written a small program in AutoIT and I see that many of you use AutoHotKey. Is there a certain advantage to using AutoHotKey over AutoIT? Is there a feature set that is missing from AutoIT?

Please discuss.

The site 'nirsoft.net' has a lot of small utilities that are updated on a somewhat regular basis. I would like some kind of program that will check the versions that are on the website against what I already have to see if the website ones are newer. If so, it will download them.

Can this be done reasonably in AutoHotKey?

Thanks in advance for the help.

DC Website Help and Extras / Hosting for NANY program
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:05 PM »
I am not sure if this is the proper forum area for this question, but it seemed logical to me.

I want to enter a program into the NANY 2015, but I do not have a place to host my program. How would I allow others to download it? Is there a way that I can get some space within the Donationcoder domain?

Thanks in advance for the help.

N.A.N.Y. 2015 / NANY 2015 Pledge: OEMer
« on: November 06, 2014, 12:09 PM »
I have been writing and improving upon a program that I wrote for the company I work for to enter OEM branding information on a computer. We build desktop computers to spec for customers and I wanted a way for us to put our company and model information/logo image on each computer that we sell.

Right now, I have information specific to our company in the program, so I am going to create a more generic version for NANY and release it very soon.

Right now, the program allows you to:

- enter OEM Information (Manufacturer, Model #, OEM Phone #, OEM Hours, OEM URL, OEM logo)  in an easy to use interface
- select a new OEM logo (BMP file) by clicking on the interface and selecting a new file
- copy any new logo used to your Logo directory for future use
- create a drop-down menu on the interface that contains all models of computer that you normally build. This list can easily be added to and deleted from.

For a future version, I hope to be able to let the user scroll through logos in the LOGO directory, via a pair of front and back buttons, to select a logo.

This is my first utility that I have programmed, and I feel that it has turned out rather well so far. It is written in AutoIT, but I hope to port it to C# some day.

Screenshot Captor / BUG?: Paintbrush Object Settings
« on: May 09, 2014, 02:56 PM »
I am using the portable version of SC, and I want to take an image that I have captured and edit it, adding lines, etc with the paint tool. I perform the following steps:
1. capture the image
2. select 'Save Image and Show' - the image editor pops up with my image.
3. click the paintbrush tool (Paintbrush Object)

If I do not change any of the settings for the paintbrush tool, I am OK.

If I change the settings, my changes will not take effect until I close the paint tool and open it again.

I am guessing that this is not how the tool is supposed to work??

Thank you for such an awesome program :)

Hello,
I have a situation where I have a laptop that has a Windows key (25 character key - 5 groups of 5 characters) that is partially worn away. Some of the characters are very readable, while others are not. For the ones that are not readable, I can take a guess as to what they are.

What I would like is a program where I can enter a base Windows key and all of my guesses for each character. The program would then generate all of the possible key combinations from that information so that I can check them off as I try activating Windows with them. I guess the most ideal version of this program could try each of the combinations by brute force, but that may or may not be do-able.

I reformatted the laptop and now I cannot enter the key because I cannot read all of the characters.

Could anybody help with something like this?

Thanks,

Jim

LaunchBar Commander / Feature Request
« on: January 31, 2014, 06:22 PM »
Thank you so much for such a great program. I love DonationCoder :)

My request is for the ability to be able to move menu items 'left and right' within the tree such that when you move an item left, you make it move up in the hierarchy (e.g if the item you want to move was a child of the item above it, it becomes a sibling to the item above it.) Moving right would make the moved item a child.

Does that make sense?

Thank you!
Jim
