« on: December 07, 2011, 04:00 PM »
NANY 2012 Entry Information

Application NameVisualPerimeter
Short DescriptionVisualPerimeter allows you to develop programs for smaller display resolutions without the need to change your actual display resolution back and forth...
System Requirements.NET 4 (Download from here)

Inspired by the N.A.N.Y. idea posted by kyrathaba.
Here's what it basically does: it displays a frame with a customizable inner width and height. You could use this develop a program for a small resolution display (like 1024x768) on a modern high-res, HD-Ready display.

  • Custom inner width and height [©]
  • Custom outer border thickness [©]
  • Custom border color (solid color/gradient) [©]
  • Maximum inner width and height determined by the resolution of current screen [©]
  • Multi-monitor support [©]
  • Hotspot around the border for moving the frame (optional) [©]
  • Suggestions are welcome...
℗: Planned | ©: Completed

The application was tested on a Windows 7 Enterprise machine, and on a Windows XP SP3 virtual machine.
  • no icon (yet)
  • no close/minimize button (quit with the taskbar button)
  • settings are not saved

Download (Changelog)
VisualPerimeter v0.9.0.0: first release

Just run the VisualPerimeter_*.exe executable. It will generate the default settings file automatically (coming soon!). If a valid configuration file is present in the same directory the application will load the settings from that (!).

Delete the executable and the configuration file.

FinColor was created because I didn't find any application for this sort of feature. First it was a PowerShell script, but now it's a full program. I needed it because I wanted to give my Windows 7 a new theme and because my video card can't handle Areo I had to do it by the hard way.

Searches for the given color in a picture supported by GDI+.

Planned Features
  • Save the results
  • Generate an image which shows where are the matched pixels.

See attachment.

You can either download the installer or download the zipped version of the application. If you've downloaded the installer run it, and follow the onscreen instructions. If you've grabbed the zip file just extract it somewhere and you can use the program right away. Remember that you'll need the .Net 4 Client Profile to be able to run this program.

Using the Application
A brief description of how a user will use the Application. What tips does a user need to get going?

If you used the installer you have to go to the Add/Remove programs dialog in the Control Panel and select 'FindColor'.
If you downloaded the zip file you can simply delete the folder.

Known Issues
Are there any issues that users should know about?
