Living Room / Hosting in the UK
« on: January 26, 2011, 06:59 AM »
Does anyone have any recommendations for a hosting solution in the UK? I run a website for a small group with the need for PHP and MySQL support. I'm not exactly unhappy with my current host, but they seem to have have become a bit "dormant" and it's making me more nervous as I renew each year.

I did find a few threads on the forum but they are from about 2 years ago so I am not sure if any reccomendations would still stand.

Thanks

General Software Discussion / Local backup like "Carbonite"
« on: May 21, 2009, 04:49 AM »
I have been having a look for a local backup solution that works like the online solutions like Carbonite; in other words it waits for idle time and then copies the files to a backup destination on an external drive or a network drive. I have had a look around on the site and I have used a few backup solutions in the past but don't seem to have come across anything.

Does anyone here use something similar or have a recommendation of something that I could try?

Best Dialog Extender / Getting Direct Folders to work with MS Office
« on: December 05, 2005, 06:47 AM »
Is anyone else having trouble with the above? Direct folders always shows the folder name as blank in the "add" section of the recent folders dialog and it doesn't seem to track the folders that I have visited using MS Office.

General Software Discussion / Managing Favourites
« on: August 23, 2005, 11:34 AM »
Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for tools that manage favourite website URLs? I have used Kaylon's Powermarks and Outertech's Linkman in the past, but both now feel to have been abandoned to a greater or lesser extent. Powermarks also doesn't play well with many of the new browsers (I mostly use Maxthon).

If you are familiar with either of the above you will have guessed that I like to collect a lot of bookmarks and then categorize them by keyword. Folder-based structure tend to force you into a single categorisation that I find restrictive.

I guess the ideal would be a marriage of the flexible filing of Powermarks, the monitoring capabilities of Aignes WSW and the past version caching of Copernic Tracker.

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a perfect match out there, but is there something that I've missed?

Regards
Mark
