Finished Programs / SOLVED: when I download files.
« on: July 18, 2011, 08:46 PM »
When I download files, sometimes I want them to go to c:\download, sometimes to F:\in, etc..

Is there a utility that adds some favorites to the save as box, so I can select from one of my top favorite locations to save to?

General Software Discussion / right click to print a file?
« on: April 29, 2011, 04:36 PM »

I'd like a small utility to right click a text file to print it, rather than having to load up an editor each time. I'd like it to remember my preferred font and size..

Anything?

General Software Discussion / copy selected directories
« on: March 29, 2011, 09:07 PM »
I use Syncback and Synctoy, but I'm looking for one like that where I can tick a box of directories and files I want copied to a backup drive, and have it save that list for next time..

I could do with Robocopy and a batch file, naming each one I want copied, but is there an easier (graphical) way?

General Software Discussion / forward email?
« on: September 26, 2010, 09:25 PM »

I am looking for a freeware app that logs in to my pop3 email every few minutes, and with a filter forwards selected mails to a different address.

(I want selected emails to be forwarded to my cell phone thru the SMS gateway.)

General Software Discussion / an app to validate email addresses?
« on: August 02, 2010, 10:59 PM »

I send emails to my opt in mailing list the old fashioned way.

I'm looking for an app to run one time on my list of email addresses that can email each one, and delete any that are no good anymore. If they bounce, I want to delete that address from the list.

It would need to send just maybe 200 messages per hour, so as not to violate my ISP limits.

Anything exist?

General Software Discussion / monitor network usage?
« on: July 15, 2010, 01:11 AM »

I'm looking for a freeware program that will look at each machine on my home network and tell me how much bandwidth each is using right then.

We often have multiple machines online, and I'd like to see who the hog is. :)

Coding Snacks / can a network get a drive letter?
« on: November 04, 2009, 01:21 PM »

Does this exist?

I'm looking for a command utility that just allows me to assign a directory on an ftp site to be a drive letter on my local machine.

That way I can just use Robocopy to make backups from batch file to a directory on my web server.  I do see that some programs can be loaded to do it, but I'd like that drive letter permanently assigned and always available so automated backups can run unattended.

Finished Programs / DONE: Warning that I'm on Battery power
« on: October 19, 2009, 01:57 AM »

I was doing a presentation on Sat, and I guess my power cord wasn't plugged in all the way, so I was on battery power. Died halfway thru the presentation in front of 1000 people, and went in hiberation. Bad!!

I use the laptop for audio so they don't see the screen.

I want a small flashing box on my screen every time I'm on battery power so this never happens again.
Anyone seen such a tiny program?

I basically want to replace Superkey, so I'd like to be able to

hit a key -say ALT B,
then it ask what key to be the playback key later
then it records all my keystrokes until I hit Alt E

That's it.
No need to record mouse.

Anything free out there?

Post New Requests Here / simple timer
« on: September 12, 2008, 02:39 PM »

I'm looking for a timer that starts with a variable that says how long to time for..

In other words.. I could have a link to it saying MYTIMER.EXE 120, and it would time for 120 mins then make a noise.
I might have another icon set up for 'MYTIMER 60' to time for one hour.

All the timers I have found requires you to start them up, then set the time you desire.

The application is to take medication 120 mins after I eat.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: new type of boot manager
« on: May 11, 2008, 04:22 AM »
I have two hardware profiles on my machine. One boots with the regular services. The other boots with a very minimal set of hardware and services.
When I boot the minimal set I also chose a different USER profile that is very minimal as well.

I'd love for the machine to see which *hardware* profile was loaded and load the matching *USER* profile.

Developer's Corner / super simple language?
« on: March 21, 2008, 07:48 PM »

I write tons of batch files to do small chores on my pc.. some of these ask me for input, or send me a message.
These work just fine, but the text boxes just look too old fashioned to have anyone else use these.

Is there basically a very simple language thats not much more than just a a version of batch files, that uses proper windows boxes to send messages and get input?

Autohotkeys kinda does some of this, but...

Post New Requests Here / IDEA? simple startup manager with timer
« on: March 21, 2008, 07:27 PM »
Basically I want to boot up, and have a window to ask if I want to run my IM cleint and a couple of other things that normally load.

If I don't answer in a few seconds, they will load by default.  If I say No, it will complete without these loaded..

{EDIT:} mods, did I post this in the wrong area?

Post New Requests Here / m3u maker
« on: March 14, 2008, 02:44 AM »

I'd like to be able to select a few mp3 files, right click, and have an m3u playlist of them created in the current directory.

Can't seem to find this anywhere!!!
