But, I don't use Powerpoint. I mostly use OneNote. Sometimes, other math software like Geogebra too.
Will it still work?

Post New Requests Here / Freeze projector display
« on: October 01, 2016, 08:53 AM »
Projectors have a "FREEZE" option to freeze the display in spite of any change in the laptop display. But, that is a projector feature and needs to be accessed through the projector remote.
I am a teacher and I go to various colleges and use different projectors for my classes. I need to use the freeze option constantly, but sometimes, in some colleges the remote is not available.
So, I was checking out if the display can be frozen by the laptop system, instead of projector. But it is a tedious workaround.
So, I request for a software which can freeze the projector display, using a button/keyboard shortcut on the laptop.

Thanks!

N.A.N.Y. 2016 / Re: NANY 2016: QuickJump 2016
« on: March 28, 2016, 06:08 PM »
I use MenuApp. It has been there for a long time and is feature rich. But, I am looking for an alternative since it is buggy. Was excited to see QuickJump, but then it does not create sub menus for folders. :(

Stroke It 0.9.6 released... will work with Windows 7 too :)
Best news of this year, for me ;)

i had another cool feature idea: a way to mark and unmark an ahk script as one to be run on windows startup.
This would be very useful... I hope it will be implemented :)

General Software Discussion / App launch and exit Macro
« on: November 11, 2008, 12:34 AM »
Is there a tool which does the following?
1. Monitor specified applications
2. Whenever such an application is run, it executes certain commands, configured for that application
3. Similarly, executes certain configured commands, when it is closed.

I have certain add-ons, which need to be started before the parent program is started.. and closed after the parent program closes ...eg: Tidy Favorites for Firefox
(So, ideally the commands are to be executed, one after another
..i.e. wait for Tidy Favorites to run, and then launch Firefox
..because, some plugins take a long time to start)

Also, some programs add some unwanted files in folders like 'My Documents' each time they are run..
I would like to have a tool which automatically deletes such files when the program exits.

I found this tool called Stock Startup.. which can be used to batch start a set of programs
But, it does not do the waiting thing ..nor does it do anything on exit.

Pls share your views  :)

TC is faster and better for certain tasks.  I've always thought that it had the fastest and most efficient mouse navigation setup...
Could you please elaborate?
I use Dopus, and would like to check out TC

Thanks a lot for eCleaner.. does a great job

will check out the link right away...

Oh yes!  ;D ..changed the title accordingly

Sometime the text copied (usually from webpages) is not properly wordwrapped ..i.e. there is a paragraph break at the end of each line.
I a looking for a tool which converts such text into proper paragraphs.
Does anyone know of such a tool?
Thanks!

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Prevent Screensaver from Stopping
« on: October 31, 2008, 08:48 PM »
Not really; I need it..
> to have access to some global keyboard shortcuts, without disturbing the screensaver
> to disable (partially) keyboard and mouse, temporarily
> to avoid screensaver being stopped inadvertantly.. I use a slideshow screensaver (mentioned here) to show photos to some naughty kids who are very fond of pressing keys and moving the mouse
 ;D
This is possible with the options in Dimsaver
Also, it would be better instead, to be able to configure the exact key combination or mouse action to stop the screensaver.

UPDATE:
I just saw similar options in Dimsaver by Skrommel, under the 'Actions' tab of it's settings.
I am looking for a similar feature for all screensavers..

Cool idea  8)
I love the "Drag & DropZones" concept... would be very useful to have it extended system-wide

« on: October 25, 2008, 07:23 AM »
I would like to prevent a screensaver from stopping, until the 'Esc' key (configurable) is pressed
i.e. no other key press or mouse movement stops the screensaver
I hope this is not difficult  ;)

I was unsure if this request needed a new post, since I saw a similar topic here:

But, finally decided to post afresh

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks a lot, city_zen  :)
That's exactly what I was looking for
When I posted, I thought I had close to 1% chance of actually finding it.. I was just checking out my luck  :P
You made me feel lucky  ;D

For long, I have been looking for a simple tool (for Windows) which shows a slideshow of all images in a specified folder.
Also, it should have the ability to pan the images, smoothly ..i.e. the Ken Burns Effects
(actually, like the one in mac ..i think it is "iphoto")

Things Preferred:
> Option to view images in sub-folders
> Option to choose direction of pan
> Light weigth and fast
> Portable

Things I don't want / care about:
> Export capabilities (I just want a viewer)
> Image cataloging or management features
> Image Editing features
etc.. etc..

Pls share if you know of something like that ;)

General Software Discussion / Tool to edit Font Properties
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:37 AM »
Is there a tool to edit the properties or details of a font? (Like meta-data editors for images)
Actually, I want to change the 'Font Family Name' for a few fonts, but could not figure out a way to do this  ;)

Wow. I've never thought that someone had "alphabet" so similar to mine :) The only difference was the symbols order.
 (see attachment in previous post)
-fenixproductions (October 19, 2008, 07:38 AM)

Ha! Mine just goes through them A-M with no dots, then N-Z with dots. I've now added numbers and most of the symbols.
 (see attachment in previous post)

Cool! It's very exciting... Could you pls upload your font :)

General Software Discussion / Re: Creating a document template..
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:06 AM »
Select all your document content, then right-click, and select "Update Field" and that should update everything in one step. Alternatively, close and open the document.

Works well :)
Many Thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: Creating a document template..
« on: October 03, 2008, 08:29 AM »
In Word 2007 it is under the "Developer" portion of the ribbon -> Controls -> Text. You could also use the legacy version of the text form field under -> Controls -> Legacy Tools -> Text Form Field
-VideoInPicture (October 03, 2008, 04:44 AM)
Oh! Just discovered that the "Developer" tab is not enabled by default... had to enable it through "Word Options > Popular"
Thanks for the help :)
One question though.. After configuring the entire document, is it possible to use the "update field" command for all the fields in the document, at once?

Hello anjan_oleti,
You might also look at TheFormLetterMachine Click Here.
This is software, written by Mouser, specifically written to help with this kind of situation.
-cranioscopical (October 03, 2008, 06:51 AM)
Thanks a lot for pointing it out...
I liked it, but there are few problems with it:
1. It allows a *key* to be used at only ONE PLACE in the document. That doesn't serve my purpose.
2. Less importantly, it works with only plain text... Would be time consuming if the document requires some formatting. Probably, it would be more useful if it were a plugin to Word, blending with other features of Word.

...go insert a "Text Form Field". Where this button is depends on whether you are using Word 2003 or 2007...
-VideoInPicture (October 03, 2008, 03:06 AM)
Thanks for the help!
I use Word 2007... but, am unable to find that button, even after some desperate searching  :-[
Plzzz elaborate... Thanks!

General Software Discussion / Creating a document template..
« on: October 03, 2008, 02:31 AM »
I need to create several long documents.. which are identical, except for certain details which change with every document.
These details are repeated at various places in the document.
For eg. a "name" used, would appear at various places in a document.. and the name would differ for each document

I want to create a template wherein I would enter a new "name" only once.. and it would update that name in all the relevant places in the document.
Like the "name", there would be several other items to be filled at various places.

After all the items which change with every document are entered once, the template would generate a new document complete with new details.

I am looking to do this without much coding-like-stuff involved.
If there is a user-friendly software to do this, it would be great... Any leads??

Thanks!
