Followed instruction but no joy I'm afraid - the printer is simply not recognised by the computer or software - I need that level one uninstaller/scrubber:
Level 1: Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again.
I can contact HP and ask for it for this version.
They do have another suggestion
here (Windows 7, Solution #10 - after reinstalling)
[edit] but I dont see it making a difference [/edit]
Solution ten: Perform a power reset
A power reset drains the power from the product and returns to the same settings after restarting. A power reset is a common troubleshooting step, and you can perform one for conditions like print jobs getting stuck in the queue.
- Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
- With the product turned on , disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 15 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
- If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button ( ) to turn it on.
