BrowserTraySwitch / Re: Browser tray switch & firefox Profiles
« on: December 19, 2009, 09:59 AM »
I dont get what you mean by making each profile to the downloaded firefox as default. Only options i have when i remove "Profile Name" from the pop up profile selection is dont ask at startup, rename & create new profile. I dont see any option to make it default.

But even my going into the browser options & manually making it default without using BrowserTraySwitch, when ive checked the program to see which browser its set to default its set to FIREFOX1 which is my default, not my other 2 profiles are FIREFOX2 & FIREFOX2 & there both loaded into the program also & named as such. When i manually change default browser in one of my firefox's it does change it on the program so it does recognise the change.

Its just i have no idea how to make links open up in the default browser using which is FIREFOX1 & they refuse to open up in FIREFOX2 or 3, they only load up in the first profile i load up regardless to which is default browser.

BrowserTraySwitch / Browser tray switch & firefox Profiles
« on: December 19, 2009, 08:40 AM »
What I've done is install firefox 3 times into different locations & have each one set to load the profile using  -p -no-remote "Profile Name" in my 2nd & 3rd firefox install shortcuts. My main profile i use just  -p Profile Name". Anyways, I'm having problems making the browser tray switch change them to the default browsers & even manually setting them to default browser all my links & programs that have links to go to the makers wabsite still open up in my main firefox or the first profile i open up.

See, i log into a site via a program i load up which has a open in browser option. Now i have 3 accounts so i open up 3 programs & sign in to my 3 accounts. What i want is to load 1 account in my main ff profile, 2nd in my 2nd profile & 3rd in my 3rd profile. But regardless to what i set as default browser they all open up in the same firefox profile & not the specific profiles i have open.

Can anyone help :D

BrowserTraySwitch / Re: Browser Tray Switch & windows 7

I was thinking the same. From my readings if the UAC is to high it will stop any software from changing settings that dosnt follow the usual path IE in browser default switching.

But who on earth gets Ultimate anyways? I went for Win7 Home Premium myself, considered pro but of the software i have dosnt work i wasnt going to bother with the Virtual XP thingymebob :D Rgardless to what MS says it will do, the desktop shortcuts refuse to work for the aps unless you have the window open & active which is just to time consuming. So, ive decided to opt for Duel Boot for both XP & Win7 so i get best of both worlds :D

oh ye i fixed it, i just deleted avent then rebooted & the system corrected itself but i couldnt find a way to fix it other than a reboot. Was weird to, after deleting avent, i was prompted to open url shortcuts with whatever program & even though i selected always use this with this file type, i closed the browser n reloaded & it persisted to ask me to select program..

I think a notice to AVOID using Avant browser is in order :D

Well, i set each of my web browsers as default & the clicked the BTS & it prompted me to save the new snapshot. I did this with all my web browsers & all worked fine. However, i just realised something so i tested again.. I use Desktop Sidebar with urls organized in tabs within it & its only those that stick with avant. I opened up another link on my desktop & it worked fine so, ive no idea really. But avant is a weird browser to start with so i doubt anyone would really be using it as a main browser.

But, if i hadnt of used avant i would of said it worked perfectly.

nah its fine, i didnt really like avant anyways, but i think it might be because i didnt install it, i copied & pasted the installation folder from a previous installation.

But, got it with chrome, IE, ff, netscape (yeye i know but i like it) opera & maxathon if thats how its spelt & it works perfectly dude.. Brava :D :P

Well, ive tested it & works great until i add the Avant browser to the list 8 then my normal shortcuts or bookmarks keep opening with Avant browser, even if i manually change the default browser within the browser settings they still keep opening up in avant :P.. But if i dont include it in the list, works great :D

win9x users should be shot  >:(

My nan & grandad was using win98se 2 yrs ago & they was riddled with virus's & bugs so much, it took up more room than the windows installation.. So winxp for them & so far it works sweet & i dont think theres going to be a better windows that xp for a long time to come..

So, in staid of editing the config file, id have to set each of my browsers as default & then take a snapshot of it so it then can change my default browser from just a click or click, click?

So if i have lets say 5 browsers installed, id make a snapshot of each browser when ive set it as default & then those browsers will then show up in the list in the GUI so i can just click like i did before to change browser defaults?

As i switch quite often between 4 or 5 browsers that all perform better at something than the others..

Oh yeah, i can manually switch my default browser by opening the browser & doing it there & all works fine, but thats to slow for my needs, i need something i can click click & job done without doing it via the browser options.

Edit..

Ive tested it on 3 systems, 2 xp pro & 1 with xp home & all act the same so i know its nothing to do with my system settings as i do like to tweak things a wee bit :D

BrowserTraySwitch / No longer switching default browser..
« on: July 05, 2009, 03:13 PM »
I have downloaded this software & have been trying to get it to work but it dosnt. All it does is change the image in the system tray to the browser i wanted to change my default browser to.  Even clicking the visit homepage link within the program dosnt load into the default browser i intended to switch to.

I have this entered..

Firefox | "H:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
Avent | "H:\Program Files\Avant Browser\avant.exe"

maybe im not adding something critical.. can anyone help?
