Hi mouser. April let me know about this project on FriendFeed because she knows what I'm interested in and that I blog about solutions that benefit small businesses and bloggers. I manage content for half a dozen marketing related blogs with significant followings. When you're ready to launch to a larger audience connect with me and we can talk about publishing posts explaining the service.

The fastest ways to reach me are:
SKYPE: GrowMap
Twitter: @GrowMap

My email address and additional contact information are on the contact tab on my blog at GrowMap.com.

Any members here who could use increased visibility for their projects or causes they believe in are always welcome to reach out to me. I can publish far more frequently than I am currently and welcome quality content. If blogging/writing isn't your thing but you can explain to me the benefits of what you are doing I can write it up for you.

I asked bloggers I collaborate with to consider giving you some more visibility. Connie Foggles wrote a post for NANY called Donation Coder NANY 2010 Challenge For New Apps. She isn't a member here so I am posting this for her.

I just published a post with the deadlines, details, and links to all relevant information including all of the above announcements and blog posts here: GrowMap.com/NANY2019

I'll start promoting it across Social Networks soon. You are all welcome to reblog, comment, link to and share it as well.

I don't know if this is the best place but we (serious bloggers and Social Networking users) REALLY need some tools built. I belong to a private group of really sharp power users who will gladly alpha and beta test them and with my persuasion I have no doubt that we would also be interested in promoting the tools developed to the public.

I know this is donationcoder; however, these tools would be highly marketable and we could set up an affiliate program and get power affiliates to sell them for the developer(s). The founder of our group has an affiliate marketing blog and company that is often ranked number one and some of the others are power affiliates.

We need two things:

1) A way to identify specific blogs we want to interact with consistently and track our comments and links in those blogs. Ideally this tool would include Blog Name, hot-linked URL, PR, DF, CL, KL (PageRank, Dofollow, CommentLuv, KeywordLuv). We could add that data manually or a really slick tool would identify and update PR and toggle DF, CL, KL.

2) Blogging Group tool with these features:
    a) Ability for each member to add and update their site URLs and the most important Keyword Phrases and specific page/post to link to each phrase.
    b) Ability for each member to add and update their Social Networks (ideally where they only have to add their user name and NOT the entire link - the tool should know how to format it)
    c) Section for members to share requests to spread only their most important, most recent content. If that section could allow other members to check off that they chose to share that specific item and where (columns for Tw, SU, Fa, Fr, Di, De, Re where those abbreviations stand for Twitter, StumbleUpon, Facebook, FriendFeed, Digg, Delicious and Reddit) that would make it even more valuable.

What we need is a fast, effective way to be consistently productive. Members need to focus on what is most important and this tool would hone in on that. Every business, corporation, Search Marketer, blogger could really use a tool like this.

Thank you to Paul and April. I'll check out these solutions. April, I replied to your suggestion at FriendFeed. I am not geek enough to figure out how to create additional profiles. I'm hoping you might lend me a hand?

Programmers don't realize how much easier they have it - normal PC users are not adept and command lines or knowing where what is on the hard drive. Oh I wish I had more geek in me so I could do what I need.

I always have lots of ideas and have shared a few here. Mine may be too complex sometimes; however, I would be glad to make suggestions directly if anyone is interested. You can also read what I have posted in the past. The one thing I would most like to have is a way to log-in to sites without doing it manually.

I know this is possible because I saw it happen on the PC of a brilliant Engineer I once knew. Even better would be a way to automatically log in to all accounts associated with a particular persona. That would save so much time! I can explain more thoroughly if anyone is interested.

What we really need is for FireFox to allow us to have totally separate FireFox windows so we could be logged into a different set of Yahoo, Google, Twitter or other accounts in each window. The reason we need this is that some of us log into client accounts at Google or Yahoo and when we do we lose our log-in status at sites like Delicious, Flickr and MyBlogLog and what we have automated stops running and our Avatars don't show up for the activity that is related to our primary persona.

For example, my primary identity online is GrowMap and I want that to stay logged in; however, I log into Google AdWords and Analytics accounts and Yahoo Stores for clients and then Google and Yahoo think I am still them even after I log out and until I manually log back in as GrowMap. I have many other online personas like ExecGifts and NoBogies and each of them needs to be logged in separately, ideally from one PC. I hope this is clear.

I know someone is going to suggest using different browsers. That is not a great solution because many addons that we use regularly only work in FireFox. I have been using Epiphany but Ubuntu recently dropped support for it. I have also tried using Opera. Both of those browsers have behaviors that are truly annoying like refusing to open new tabs instead of new windows. What we really need is many separate FireFox windows with as many tabs open in each as we need.

With or without separate windows, we still need a faster way to get logged in as a particular persona across multiple sites. Perhaps there could be an app that we could configure with the sites for each persona that checks status or logs the current accounts out and then logs the selected persona in. Although it would be great to be able to work in different personas simultaneously, switching between them quickly would be the next best solution.

I have requested that http://www.backlinkreporter.com/ create a version for tracking dofollow blog comments that would be just like their current tool but rename some of the comments for that purpose. If they're not interested would that be the kind of thing someone here might do?

There would be great interest in creating a way to automate time-consuming tasks on specific sites. I realize these would each be individual apps; however, they could be similar to each other and some sites would be willing to promote your app to their members. Here are some examples to convey what I mean:

FriendFeed allows you to follow "friends" from other Social Networking services by going to Friends Search and selecting a service. It finds the users there that also have FriendFeed accounts and allows you to mass add them. Unfortunately they removed the option to subscribe to all those who subscribe to you so now you have to add them ONE at a TIME! Jeesh. (For a while you could select all and subscribe all.) I wonder if that could be automated.

If someone could find a way to sync all your friends/followers/subscribers across Social Networks that would be awesome. I would settle for a way to follow/friend/subscribe everyone at X Social Network who follows me at Y Social Network. And it isn't just Social Networking sites. There are so many communities now on all kinds of sites including blog & RSS directories like Technorati and MyBlogLog, Local Search communities like Yelp and Merchant Circle, and blog communities built at Ning and elsewhere. We have this challenge across them all.

What about an app that finds and follows the blogs and bloggers whose Avatars appear in a MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog or Blogged Widget? Beyond that we need to automate following those who follow us on all those sites. Yes, I know doing it manually is more Social but there are only so many hours in a day and there are hundreds if not thousands of sites that are beneficial to bloggers and online businesses.

Blog directories like Blogged.com allow following individuals and blogs. Instead of manually visiting and following each person who follows you would it possible to write an app that could follow anyone who follows you automatically? Would you need to manually log into the site and run it or could it run without you doing that? Could you also have it follow the blogs of anyone who is following you?

Individual Social Networking acccounts such as my GrowMap StumbleUpon account allow others to subscribe to you. Is it possible to write an app that will subscribe to them for you?

Perhaps even better, when you use su.pr to share posts at Twitter the provide stats for individual posts. If you look at the stats on one of my posts in the lower right corner su.pr shows all the StumbleUpon users who liked that post. It would be great if you could run an app that would subscribe to those who liked your post.

There are simply not enough hours in the day to reciprocate on even the major sites much less all the others. Most don't realize there are over 500 blog directories alone and dozens of Social Networking sites. Anything that speeds up the process would be in demand by at least the power users - and more and more businesses need to learn to BE power users. Feel free to contact me for additional details or to collaborate. FriendFeed is a good place to discuss complex issues.

First I want to say that I am not a programmer but I would like to be a regular here so I welcome input from anyone on what is feasible and what is not. I suspect that many ideas I may have are not really snacks. If any are interested in developing them I am willing to alpha test, provide feedback, and then market their ideas (free or fee) for them.

I'll start with this idea and you can all throw water at me if it is too large a job. For a long time bloggers have been posting lists of Twitter users by niche and sites like Twellow let you search by niche but the TweepML folks have finally provided a great solution (which Twitter has announced they plan to copy).

TweepML allows you to easily save and share lists of Twitter users so others can easily follow them. It scrapes all the Twitter IDs on a particular page for you as explained on their Tweep Gen Generate page. Then you just post or send the list page and someone can add their Twitter info, keep or remove anyone from the list, and follow them.

There would be a huge interest in something similar for other Social Networking sites and for me specifically StumbleUpon and FriendFeed. Feasible? Complicated? Feedback greatly appreciated.

There are so many things I wish I could automate that if anyone wants some ideas for apps they could create and potentially sell I hope they'll contact me through my blog or at Twitter or FriendFeed or StumbleUpon or anywhere else you can find me as GrowMap.

Bummer - it is Windows and Mac only.

I found you through April Russo (@app103 on Twitter) because I am both graphics and programming challenged. Well, I could learn programming but graphics.... hmmm.... I better stick to wordsmithing and driving traffic. Anyway...

I have been using Ubuntu for about a year and am always campaigning for open source and to create a better world by our choices: supporting small businesses instead of corporations.

There are always apps I wish I had that I haven't located so if anyone wants to write some cool tools for power Social Networking users and bloggers let's collaborate. I'll explain what we need, you can code it, I'll test it (if it will run on Ubuntu or in Wine or I can borrow a Windows pc) and then I'll promote it for you. Ideally it would work in any OS.

I am also looking for some logo and graphic design people to recommend. I just published a post about that and it includes some tips about Freelancer Challenges. If you have anything you want promoted or you do work worth recommending look me up. I'm @GrowMap wherever you find me online especially Twitter, FriendFeed and cliKball.
