Here in Fort Worth area we've had 14 consecutive days of 100+ degrees. Good for my line of work (A/C service tech) but makes it hard to work in attics where the indoor units are in alot of houses.

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 22" hooked up via HDMI to my Dell Studio 17" laptop works great. Beats the heck out of the built in display. :D

Thanks for the updated link Mouser. It is from my hometown. It's a shame it had to end this way but in this lawsuit happy time it was a matter of time till it ended. I feel sorry for the guy's family but the lawsuit in my opinion was baseless, the guy knew the risks going in.

The link isn't good but I think this is from my hometown in Longview, Tx. The Nissan dealership here use to have this contest every year up until about 3yrs ago cause some guy after dropping out of the contest went across the street, broke into a Kmart store grabbed a gun and loaded it and shot himself. The family sued the dealership and the contest will not be held again. The lawsuit was just recently settled but the terms weren't disclosed. Here's the story http://tinyurl.com/6jlfls

I use several of their programs, the only paid one is Windowblinds, and SoundPackager and CursorFX free versions and like them all. I also have a subscription to Wincustomize. It would be nice if they will offer a DC discount as I would like to get Icon Packager to add to the mix.

General Software Discussion / Re: monitoring internet usage

Here's one that I use it's freeware and will break down stats by day, month,or year and by program. You can check it out here: http://www.netlimiter.com/

I like Online Armour also but with the free version every time there is an update you have to manually uninstall the old version before installing the new one and reconfigure it. They did this purposely to get you to buy it. While the price isn't bad and worth it, it still rubs me the wrong way so I'll stay with Comodo

A really good edition as always. It is a little on the chatty side but that's a good thing in my opinion. Keep up the good work guys.

I have my installers in a folder that I also sync to a thumb drive. I only put the ones I use regularly in there and all the ones that I pay for. I try to keep it updated with latest versions but sometimes get behind with that. It does save time though if I have to reinstall the OS or restore a backup image.

General Software Discussion / Re: How do you launch stuff?
« on: September 27, 2007, 02:57 PM »
The way I launch things is with a toolbar on my desktop and with a program called Hotkeys. The toolbar is easy to make just make a folder on the desktop and name it whatever you want then drag it to the edge of the screen and drop it. Then put all the desktop shortcuts in this folder and instant launch bar. I have mine set to always be on top and auto hide just move the cursor to the edge of the screen and the bar appears. The program is a keyboard mapper. Its available at http://qliner.com/hotkeys/overview.htm

I use both XP and Vista on my laptop though I use XP most of the time.

I don't use the start menu as much as I use to since I found Hotkeys by Qliner (http://qliner.com/hotkeys/)  did buy the Vista Start Menu program to make it easier to organize. Hotkeys lets me map shortcuts to programs to any key on keyboard. Use the Windows key + "*" key you mapped to run the program. Hitting Win key+Z puts a keyboard on screen to show whats mapped where. You can launch .exe, documents, folders or web sites whatever you map on the keys. You can drag & drop things on the screen keyboard from desktop or explorer or even the Quick launch bar.  It is opensource and free to use and is easy to setup plus saves time looking for stuff. It also works in Vista. It also requires the .Net Framework 2.0.5 or greater.

I use Weather Pulse myself. I tried Weather Watcher too but didn't like it as well. There is a shareware app. called Storm Preditor that I tried that uses near real time NWS radar in the interface that was cool, but was a  little pricey from what I remember. I wish I would of purchased it now it is great for tracking severe storms which are plentiful in Texas.
