Circle Dock / Manually inside Virtual Folder to Circle Dock
« on: May 07, 2009, 08:08 PM »
Manually inside Virtual Folders (My Computer, Control Panel, My Network Places, Network Connection & Recycle Bin) to Circle Dock.

Image Here:
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1307/mycircledock.jpg

1.) Create a Blank Icon on Circle Dock.

2.) Copy this virtual folders address to Circle Dock's Target "textbar".
   I.) My Computer = ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

  II.) Control Panel = ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\::{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

 III.) My Network Places = ::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}

 IV.) Network Connection = ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\::{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}\::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E}

  V.) Recycle Bin = ::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

(Note: Recycle Bin doesn't have "Empty Recycle Bin" while you right click on the Icon, because Eric doesn't finish yet his project and does not have any function using on Circle Dock including cannot change the icon to full rubbish icon when you delete something.)

3.) Type the Name by yourself and find the suitable Icons you liked.

4.) Press close button and test it works or not. (For me is 100% works)

Enjoy!

This was fixed by rewriting a portion of the Orbit.Hook.dll file responsible for the mouse hooking. This new dll file is smaller (43kb) compared to the older Orbit.Hook.dll file (430 kb).

Yes this file is not totally fixed yet, not working on my PC and the "Orbit.Hook.dll" not have any version or information on there.

I wanted to keep it under 10 megs for easy of download but the graphics are taking up most of the space and they don't compress. Any suggestions to get it under 10 megs for download?

How about this open source installer "NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) 2.40" you can try this thing.

NSIS 2.40 Home page

One of the features:
Small overhead size
NSIS is created to be small, fast and efficient. While other installers often add hundreds of kilobytes or several megabytes to your installer data, a full-featured NSIS installer has an overhead of only 34 KB.

Or you just separate two zip files, one is Circle Dock with several backgrounds and icons, one is the another new icons and backgrounds.

Yup, those bugs was still there on the General > Z-level, when starting the Circle Dock is using "Topmost" set to "Normal" or "Topmost" first and than you set again to "Always On Bottom" and this will make your PC at high CPU usage until the Circle Dock restart, this issue only affect on Windows XP, I think Eric will fix this bug at future. Now the Circle Dock Alpha8.1 already has many functions such as directly link to program by using "Add Item" right click on Circle Dock, the drag n drop desktop shortcut icons Eric not fix to auto locates the original path yet. See the Home Page > Change Log.

I've one Circle Dock issue to let you know and must be improve, it is rotation mouse wheel scrolls up n down, every times I must click on the Circle Dock background once time to use mouse wheel to scroll up n down to rotate the icons, when click to show up or start up the Circle Dock. My suggest is when mouse over on Circle Dock and scrolls to rotate the icons, no need to click every times.

Updated:
Now I using (minor Alpha8.1) and not have this problem yet, I don't know why...? But I still remember Alpha 8.0 has this problem...

« on: September 23, 2008, 03:53 AM »
Thanks Eric updated the Circle Dock to Alpha 8.1 and also updated the language files. I know this version is same as the previous Alpha 8.0 and all the language files I just using English, I am a Chinese guy but I only to be used the English interface.

If the Alpha 9 is out, can I just copy n paste the inside "Setting" folder "Config.ini" & "DockItemData.ini" files and not effect the new version?

I try to create another new background for Circle Dock, my target is want create a background is true transparent like the glass(can see through), but I don't know how to do it...

And here is my Circle Dock Background Style:

Gears of War Logo Style
......

Dual Ring Style
.....

So very ordinary.

Wow, those are cool backgrounds! I especially like the Dual Ring version.

Do you want to include those for Alpha 8 tomorrow? I could feature them on the Circle Dock homepage. Just send me an e-mail at [email protected]. Sorry that I can't help you with the glass type effects. I'm not an advanced Photoshop user so I can't create those kind of graphics.

Eric Wong

Hello Eric, this new Dual Ring is already sent to your Gmail account and please to check it.

Yes, take out it on Alpha 8 version first, when you already fixed this problem and put it back to Alpha 9 version.  :)

Set the "Z - Level" to "Topmost or Normal" first, and than set again to "Always on Bottom" the problem will come.

I already try this setting many also be same problem.

I try to testing this version now, and have one problem is in general section, when I set the "Z - Level" to 'Topmost or Normal' first, and than set again to 'Always on Bottom' and the Circle Dock will eat many CPU usage 70% - 95% and doesn't fall down.

I know you released this version early first for translate the language files, but I try all this first and also have another problems.

1.) In the add blank icon, such as add notepad: when I already choose the current icon image, selected target link, type the name and click close to add icon, it won't show the name and my current icon image just is default icon and name, but only way is restart the Circle dock the name and icon will change.

2.) Drag n Drop icon better take the program target link not take desktop shortcut link.
