General Software Discussion / Re: GemX - missing in action

Fair point - maybe Sally could start the new Helpmaker thread and we can contunue to follow the progress there. As for GemX I have yet to receive a reply to my many DSM's none of which have been offensive - quite the opposite. I grieve the situation they are now in having purchased the software because it is quite simply the best total PIM concept and I can't understand why some of the big players in software haven't sought to come up with anything close to what they were trying to do. If they get their act together then I may well continue to use it unless something else captures my imagination - currently using Essentuial PIM and would like to see TreeDBNotes improve their scheduler/calendar function - anyone seen ichronos http://www.ichronos.info/ it looks very smart but at the moment it is a little lacking in functionality - very stylish and could be the surprise new kid on the block??

I'm starting to think that Helpmaker is more a Troublemaker...

Sally, I for one do not feel offended in any way - I'm not quite sure what Doublewitt is refering to by his comment about Troublemaker - I'm hoping that he is making a joke but that is for him to make clear. So, keep up the good work - I am eagerly awaiting the release of Helpmaker v8

I've given up on GemX - such a shame since it seemed to promise much - I'm looking at various other apps - I like the look of TreedbNotes Pro, really powerful and good for my research and writing but what a shame the PIM side to it is slightly lacking. I like the pop up calendar which gives week and month views but why not push it that little bit further and make it a fully functional calendar with a visual grid for appointments trather than a list of tasks? Sorry if this is a bit off topic but i guess those of us who have been stung by do-O are now desperately trying to replace it with something that delivers on functionality.  :(

I've just come across a very interesting contender to do-O - it's called Chaos Intellect and looks very cool - need to test drive it for a while but it seems promising as a PIM and email app but not a lot of functionality for note taking as yet.  http://www.chaossoftware.com/

Armando - had a quick look at SQLnotes - I liked the concept of Ecco without really seriously getting into it - once installed and run SQLnotes generated about 100 weird pop up error boxes each time I tried to access a tab! I'll give it another try maybe when they have sorted out whatever bug causes this!  :D

It's great to find out that I'm not the only one locked out of the GemX thing - but not great to be locked out you understand. I too am a registered user of do-O and the forum. At first I felt that things were working really well, I bought the full product and now I'm a bit naffed to find that it seems to have gone bad. I can only assume the worse since there seems to be NO ATTEMPT from the developers to reassure us as to what the position is. I've emailed regularly and DSM'd with no reply -it's downright rude! I feel cheated, especially since the product seemed to promise so much - there's really nothing I can find to compare, but that doesn't change the fact that I now find myself reluctant to continue investing in it. I am using Essential Pim which seems like a decent application but as yet is nothing like as comprehensive as do-O promised to be. Reading their website it appears that they are open to users suggestions and if they are smart they could capitalise on the apparent demise of GemX - but maybe that's wishful thinking ;0(  I'll keep my eye on this thread in the hope that some positive developments take place - but I'm beginning to think it is unlikely - I mean, face it =- if guys like TipTop and the other regulars are feeling doubtful GemX have a mountain to climb to win back our loyalty.
