AppZip is a freeware utility that lets you compress whole applications
into a single file for storage. When you want to launch the application,
the AppZip Launcher will automatically uncompress it and again recompress
it after the program closes.

Warning: Please READ THIS FILE CAREFULLY before using AppZip. The author
is not responsible for any damage caused to program files through improper
use of the program.

How to use AppZip
-----------------

Make sure the following files are present in your AppZip folder:
1. AppZip.exe
2. azlaunch.exe
3. zip.exe
4. unzip.exe
5. UnAZ.exe
6. readme.txt

The first time you want to compress any application, run AppZip.exe and
follow the on-screen steps to create two files. (one .az and one .az2
file) The application will be compressed into the .az file and the
original program folder WILL BE REMOVED!

When you want to launch the application, double-click on the .az file to
open it. The first time you do this, Windows will pop up an "Open With"
dialog box. Click "Browse...", move to the folder where you have installed
AppZip and choose "azlaunch.exe". From then onwards, .az files will
automatically be opened with the AppZip Launcher.

Note: Once you compress an application, any shortcut on the desktop or
Start Menu will not function. Instead, you must modify the shortcut and
set "Target:" to the .az file and "Start in:" to the folder where you
installed AppZip (not the folder where the .az file resides)

The AppZip Launcher will uncompress the application into its original
folder, execute the specified program, recompress the application and
then remove the program folder. In this process, if the parent folder
of the application doesn't exist, you will get an error. For eg., if
the ABCD application resides in C:\EFGH\ABCD, and the folder C:\EFGH
doesn't exist before launching, you will get an error. In this case,
you will have to first create the C:\EFGH folder.

You can move the compressed application into any folder on any drive,
but make sure that the .az and .az2 files are always present together
in the same folder.

One last note: if you want to uncompress the application permanently,
you can use the supplied UnAZ program to do so. When you run UnAZ.exe,
a dialog box will pop up, letting you select an AppZip file to un-
compress. Just select a file and the application will be restored to
its original folder. The .az and .az2 files will also be left intact,
and you can delete them if you wish.
