Title: Draw Cody competition - win incredible prizes!
Post by: nudone on October 10, 2007, 04:41 PM
Cody fans pay attention! Now is  your chance to win some truly astounding prizes - and all of them involving Cody - yes, it is truly amazing!

All you need do is post a picture of Cody to this thread and in a few weeks time Cody will decide upon the winner and runners up. The picture must be an original piece of work, so either a quick sketch or painting will be fine. If you prefer to use a more technological advanced medium then that is also welcome but Cody will judging the images simply by how amusing they are and not on how well crafted - in other words, a quick mess about with Microsoft Paint will be more than enough.

The competition is open to all but it would be nice to see some children's pictures of Cody. Any DC parents wishing to exploit, er, I mean encourage their child's artistic temperament now have a good reason to do so - how else are you likely to win some fabulous Cody prizes?

What are these mind blowing prizes? Look below and gaze in awe...

1. A DonationCoder Cody Mug (unbelievable!)

2. A signed picture of Cody (beautiful!)

3. A deluxe member kit and certificate of Cody Club Special Member (brain meltingly generous!)

4. A special Cody badge in your forum profile to demonstrate you entered the competition (fair!)

and for the overall winner, a signed genuinely unique limited edition of one single print special poster (absolutely insane!! <- look, 2 exclamation marks)

The competition is now open so feel free to submit your picture. Mouser will perhaps mention when the contest will end.

Oh, and Cody says "good luck to all and he can't wait to put the winning entry up on his wall" - yes, he really did just say that, right next to me, just a moment ago.

i found this ancient Mayan cave drawing of cody:

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

When the drawing was first found back in 1761 there was an ancient stone pot underneath it which was empty except for one gold coin which had apparently been overlooked by looters who had broken into the cave years earlier.  Villagers tell of a legend of a giant fat white bird or duck who protected the village from downtime and demanded gold coins in return for his service.

We need a simple rule: Directly involved members with DC can't take part in this contest. mouser, you're ruled out ;D

The competition is open to all but it would be nice to see some children's pictures of Cody. Any DC parents wishing to exploit, er, I mean encourage their child's artistic temperament now have a good reason to do so - how else are you likely to win some fabulous Cody prizes?

Is OK to exploit children even if you're not their father (for example, your nephews)?. If it's OK, I think I can lure, errr, no, talk with someone to do the dirty work for me (I'll get that signed picture!)

of course young kids and nephews can enter!  that's the whole point!
remember this contest is being judged by Cody himself, and i think he prefers little kid scribbles to pro artist stuff.

This was done by my daughter. Who is -5 years old.

Deozaan: Too cute!  She captured the likeness of Cody perfectly.

Scancode: Yes, that is indeed a gold coin in Cody's beak.  She drew it then erased it -- dunno why.  Before she drew him she asked lots of questions, like why is he carrying money?  I told her he's a friendly bird that delivers coins to clever programmers.  She liked that.

Actually, I'm impressed the scanner picked that up.  It's not visible in the paper drawing.

Just a note: the word "competition" is a bit misleading here..
The object isn't to try hard to draw the best Cody picture.  The object is simply to participate and draw Cody, no matter how crap your skills are.  Then Cody will pick the picture that means the most to him.

I don't think he's confused. He's just the "?" Peg Person in the DonationCoder logo. See how there are three of them, "?" "011110" and "!" at the top of the site?

She says the "little guys" have symbols in the speech-bubbles, one of which is "?".  I believe she is using the site's banner graphic for inspiration.

i've drawn a couple of nightmarish cody things before (search for mr. globe and his disapproval - the other image remains only viewed by mouser - it was a nasty yellow relative of cody) but beakless hovering cody is one of the most terrifying things i've seen.

The sad event came about this way...

Cody drew inspiration from the writings of one of his distant relatives (Mother Goose).
In this case "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers..."

Unfortunately, Cody mistook the noun 'peck' for a verb and acted accordingly!

Not quite, Deozaan :P

the overall winner, as chosen by Cody, is Audrey. congratulations, Cody was overwhelmed by the number and variety of Audrey's drawings. Cody says it was very clever of Audrey to find out about all those things he's done and then put them onto paper.

a special mention is for p3lb0x as Cody really liked the sci-fi themed pictures, especially the Cyborg Cody (the blueprint will come in very handy).

of course, Cody also loved the pictures by hamradio, jandi, scancode, jgpaiva and Deozaan's daughter. i haven't let Cody see the picture submitted by cranioscopical as i think it may be too much for him.

i believe that all those that entered will receive a small prize and Audrey and p3lb0x will receive something extra. winners will be contacted by mouser to discuss what they have won and where it should be sent.

all the pictures will also appear on wtfcody.com where Cody will probably make time to say a little piece about each one as i know they will all be going up on his gallery wall.

Cyborg Cody has a kind of a Mayan feel to it -

could it be based on the "interpretation of [a] sarcophagus lid recovered from the tomb of the Classic-era Maya ruler of Palenque, Pacal. [It was] claimed the design represented a seated bird-astronaut" *

* source Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_astronaut_theory)

EDIT: and maybe the bird on top (http://www.mesoweb.com/palenque/monuments/TI_sarcophagus/099.html) could be an extraterrestrial relative?

There is speculation in the IRC channel that perhaps this is where Cyborg Cody came from.

Or maybe Cody would like a rematch: Cody vs Wormzilla!

As you can see. Cody had a nice trip to Venice!
Hehe, it looks like the coin came out of... you know... and that Cody is slightly embarrassed :P

Just to let everyone know: Audrey was EXTREMELY proud and happy to receive such a high honor.  She's read the announcement out loud at least a dozen times and just giggles with happiness.

Thanks, everyone.  You've made a little girl's Halloween extra special.  :-)

Fortunately, thanks to Aesop, Cody found another distant relative
who seems to have laid this golden egg. (see attachment in previous post (https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=10330.msg82546#msg82546))It seems to be cracked, hmmm
Could be some potential here...

Reminds me of a fortune cookie.  :P

nice animation there Deozaan, but i've no idea what Cody will make of it (reply is here http://wtfcody.com/?page_id=5#comment-238 ).

it's also very good to hear about Audrey's reaction to winning.  ;D

I received my prize in the mail a few days ago. I also requested a DC Membership Kit since I never claimed one before.

What a nice surprise! I love the glossy print of the picture, signed by Cody. The postcards, iron-on-transfer, etc. are all fun too! I was especially glad to see a magnet in there. I'm not sure why, but I like it.

Also, my daughter will love the one made out to her--when she's born in 5 years. :P

The truth about my Daughter

I thought I was being clear when I joked about my "daughter" drawing that terrible picture I made:

This was done by my daughter. Who is -5 years old.

Then when Ralf (and others, apparently) missed the negative sign before the 5, I fessed up:

Deozaan: Too cute!  She captured the likeness of Cody perfectly.

Honestly, I did that drawing. It's like my best drawing ever. I spent three hours shading the upper lip (http://imdb.com/title/tt0374900/).

But apparently it still wasn't clear. So let me make it clear: I don't have any children. Yet!

Thanks mouser and nudone!

I'd like to see the mug from whoever got that, as well as the unique poster!

And a Cody badge would be great in my profile.  :-* :-[

Audrey Maximus got the mug, as well as a cool signed print (like the one above) and YESTERDAY she got a cool extra-high resolution poster.  We're getting it framed in the next few weeks and it'll be in her room.

This weekend I'll gather everyone together (animals included) and take a family picture with her prize goodies for posting here.  Stay tuned...
